Not an FG knot. The FG not alternates loops between two different strands... this knot... like an albright or PR bobbin, has the loops in one direction, in succession, in two different layers. Not the same not. And i dont think this is quite the same as a PR bobbin but as others have commented, they make a tool for that too

I bought this device on eBay. LEO brand. Watched the video about ten times It didn't work for me at all. When I try tightening the "knot" the mono line keeps sliding out. Find it hard to understand how this "knot" could work even in theory because it is essentially multiple twists of braid around the mono that you run down then up. If you think about it logically it comes as little surprise that the mono pulls out from those twists when you try tightening the "knot" ☹️

@@denisboulavine5007 Hello Denis, Sorry, but I'm not sure what LEO brand is... I understand it doesn't *seem like it should work, but done correctly, it surprisingly does. That's what the FG knot is -- alternating braid wraps on leader. It works on the principle like a Chinese Finger Trap. I have found the key to tying it properly is to 'serve' the knot. JP DeRose has a good video showing what he means by 'serving' the knot: ruclips.net/video/OWI1bZUvp_M/видео.html . The first time I used the Knot Assist 2.0 (also my first FG knot), my leader pulled through as well. That's when I found JP's video. After properly serving my knots before finishing, I have never had one fail. Hope this helps 😀

I'm very curious. Is an FG knot stronger than simply connecting your main to leader using a swivel barrel and your knot of choice? I would greatly appreciate your insight🙏

Not an FG knot, it’s basically a PR knot and the word is half hitch, not half inch.
    Cool gadget though.
