- Employees at Rockford Health System may know Rolando Maaba as the friendly guy they see emptying their office trash or cleaning bathrooms on the North Rockton Avenue campus. But many more are coming to know him as the talented piano player who often spends his afternoon break entertaining patients, guests and staff in the main hospital lobby.
A native of the Philippines, Rolando moved to Rockford in 1999 and has worked in environmental services at RHS since 2013. You can hear him tell his story in his own words, and hear him play the piano, in a new video series titled Inside Stories where we’ll occasionally feature RHS employees and their unique, untold stories.
This man is a valuable asset to the hospital. Music may not be a medical treatment, but it does boost moral, and when patients have high moral, they heal more effectively. Hey RHS, how about giving Rolando a bonus check at Christmas or New years? He deserves it as much as any doctor or board of executive officers.

Bravo and God bless you Rolando, for sharing your gift of piano music to the hospital staff and patients who have the privilege of enjoying your beautiful music! As a Violin and Piano Teacher, I always tell my Music Students that no matter what careers they choose to do in life, to always remember to keep up the music playing in your life.
When I hear that part of your play, I felt it, it's coming from the inside of you. It says you are a beautiful person..
And you have a wonderful gift.
Bless this man
Beautiful person. Godbless you. ☺ im so proud of you. ☺
God bless you more!
"Bravo!", Rolando. You're an amazing man, (from the Philippines), so good natured, (and such a hard worker!), with such amazing musical talent, (...It's so incredible to hear you play so well, strictly from memory, without any written music!), and you have an amazing life-story! Keep up the Good Work!!! ; D
Thanks po kuya for sharing your talent!God bless you and your family

notra dame no one can get your point because you're pointless..the argument is pointing east while yours is pointing nowhere:P try to apply the same set of common sense. it seems you don't have it :) by saying how i wish he can speak English very well is a blatant truth but unfortunately you are too stupid to realized that. :) come on. .. :P
***** i exactly know that..He is a Filipino with extra ordinary talent working as Janitor and I dont expect him to speak English fluently...that is why i said
"How I wish He can speak English very well"
Is it really hard for you guys to understand my statement? Kindly avoid emotional comments. WT.
