  • Rockford Memorial Hospital’s highest-rated Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides care for premature, critically ill, and injured newborns from throughout the region.
Our 46-bed NICU is staffed by a multidisciplinary care team of physicians, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric therapy services, and consulting physicians. All have extensive training in the care of premature and ill infants. Neonatologists provide 24-hour in-house coverage, and registered nurses must complete a comprehensive 18-week orientation program. We also have dedicated NICU staff provide neonatal transport services for infants requiring transfer.
Please take a moment to watch a virtual tour of our NICU unit.

I love this video. It sounds very warm and welcoming, HOWEVER, you know, there are several babies that were born at 21 and 22 weeks, and yet they SURVIVED. I don't like the cut off range here. I understand 22 and 21 weekers RARELY survive, HOWEVER, I could name you SEVERAL babies born this early, who survived.
