Talking about “her look and her being lean” shows you how deep problems were in gymnastics back then and still are. Go off of the persons gymnastics not how they look
It still amazes me that Tim Dagett is still an NBC gymnastics commentator after all these years. He's clearly one that should've stayed behind in the 90s.
@@SuAva Yeah we could really use some new voices. I heard Laurie Hernandez commentating on an NCAA meet and she was great! I also really like Sam Peszek’s commentary. They both point out positives and don’t only focus on the errors made, unlike Tim. I also really like that they don’t constantly talk about Simone Biles. Simone absolutely is the GOAT, but that doesn’t mean the airways need to be filled with her praises during everyone else’s routines.
Yikes that Van Leeuwen. Wish they tried something else. She probably could have done this routine for a 6.8 difficulty value at the time, it's cleaner version of the standard "Russian routine" that would soon become common (this format removes the clunky extra Giant 1/2 they are always doing): Toe 1/1 (D) + Komova II (E) + Pak (D) *.4 cv* Inbar 1/1 (E) + Maloney (D) + Inbar 1/2 (D) + Jaeger (D) *.5 cv* Double Layout (D)
Musty Fan ok this is too late to ask but normal girls usually don’t grow that much when they’re 16/17 but how could gymnasts grow that much around this age? Or it’s just her case.
Her coaches excitement when she stuck the landing 💕
I'm gonna miss that double layout... BOSS
Stuck double layouts when she's young and small, and stuck double layouts when she's older and taller. Amazing!

[legs go completely apart on the Van Leeuwen] 1:18
Tim: "litttttle bit of a leg separation" lol ok
Right? And then be all surprised about the E-score later. Like just explain to your viewers how just that one move could be a 0.4 deduction.
Her score please
