I'm glad they're working on it, but I'll believe it when they actually show something. Things go into preproduction all the time, and they don't always make it out to the public.

I will say Michael Kelly’s description of the JOE Team was at least promising. I like how that was written. But yeah…we’ll all see.
I tell you, the intro to our GIJOE the animated movie, in those 2:58 of time, is far and away better than anything Lorenzo di "NO-BONER"ventura will ever be able to come up with. Take the spirit of the JOE animated movie intro, combined with live action awesomeness of MegaForce, and there....perfrct recipe for just a fun action movie that brings joy!

They need to animate it like the G1 Transformers The Movie! We need G1 Transformers/G.I.Joe with most of the OG cast, that would be a seller!
I don’t disagree with that route. I really enjoyed the TF Netflix series.
This is why we need animated movies. At least DC has kept a standard of cool stuff. A live action crossover is going to be double disappointing with debonaventura at the helm

I think it’s gonna bomb just like Snake Eyes did. If they want a successful one, they need to make it comic accurate or as close as they can.
I absolutely agree with that - use the source material and honor these characters. It’s that easy.
That will leave no room for shoehorned dei and diversity, so Hollywood will not do that.
With this rebooted franchise, the G.I. Joe films will have the same vibe like the Beasts film. New actors that portrays the characters and not big people in short films. Hopefully, this crossover film will make more spin off stories with G.I. Joe, Cobra, M.A.S.K, et al. to join in together. Yo Joe and Roll Out!!

I always try to watch something from my arena of interests once. GI Joe & Transformers are definitely interests, so I am going to watch it. I hope it’s decent, I don’t expect it to be great, if it’s terrible, I hope it is at-least entertaining. If a bad movie is entertaining in some way, it never feels like a full loss to me. So here’s to hope, it’s all we really have at this point with the people currently at the helm of these franchises.
And that’s a great way to look at things! I’m ready to be surprised again!

I wonder if they will tie any of the content to the current Skybound energon Cross-over storyline? Keeping my expectations low. If it's bad I won't have to worry wasting money seeing it like just like the Snake Eyes movie.
Id want to think they’d look at it, but the ‘89s crossover comics were referenced…and since when does DiBonaventura approve scripts based on real comics(?). Never. Dude’s an idiot.
An Action Man (Action Team?) team up could be interesting. Not unlike an Oktober Guard team up/adversarial objective team up. But story would be what makes it good. And Oktober Guard would be just a lot more interesting than Action Man.
I don't think the people in charge will make a good movie here. And I'm not saying a good "G.I.Joe" movie, but just a good movie. There are parts of the Transformers movies that I like but there are so many parts that I don't like that I can't re-watch these movies. I can watch the original Predator at any point, for contrast. Same with the G.I.Joe movies, some good parts, but I can't re-watch Rise of Cobra at all. It's not a "it's not my Marvel comic true to the source" thing for me, either.
It's more like these people don't want to do the work and create something really awesome and original.
They keep dusting off a small part of an old thing and put it through another cycle.
Just like the G.I.Joe toy line since 2002 (to an extent, of course). And the formula works.

As an OG Transformers fan, my feelings toward this are complete ambivalence, zero ****s given, don't care. Out of seven TF films, they've made 1.5 good ones. I haven't liked any of the Joe films. "We made more $$$ than Indiana Jones", talk about faint praise! This smacks of a Sony/Spider-Man situation, let's just keep pumping out crap to keep the film rights and maybe one out of three will make money. I'm hoping this year's animated Transformers movie will be good, but I just don't care about their live action attempts any more.
I wholeheartedly agree with you and it suuuuucks we couldn’t have good films if these great IPs. It seems so easy yet so hard for these people to accomplish

Mam , just give us an 80s period piece. Transformers in their g1 bodies, Joes in 80s kit with a few experimental pieces... no power suits... and terrorists with Bond style lairs and large paramilitary baddies... how hard is this?!
Exactly!! And this crossover will only get us as far back as ‘95 at best with their timelines.
That just sounds fun and entertaining. Many of those '60'/'70's/'80's elements (cold war, etc.) are great.

Somebody in the entertainment division over at Hasbro, (in a decision making capacity,) needs to understand that the common dominator in these lackluster _G.I. JOE_ movies is Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
In the twenty years, (yeah it's been 20 years,) since LdiB has had the rights to _G.I. JOE_ the best he's given us is _G.I. JOE: Retaliation._
_G.I. JOE_ is in the same spot my beloved Warriors were in under Marc Jackson. Management realized that with Marc Jackson as head coach the Dubs were never going to get a ring, so they fired Jackson and hired Steve Kerr.
The same is true with LdiB and _G.I. JOE._ _JOE_ has the pieces in place for _G.I. JOE_ to be a billion dollar film franchise but that's not going to happen with LdiB as executive producer because assemblying the creative talent necessary to make _G.I. JOE_ a billion dollar film franchise is something that's beyond LdiB's talent and skill set.
Proof of this are the _JOE_ films and his latest brick _Madame Web._ It also needs to be noted that when LdiB's does have talented screenwriters working for him he doesn't get their best work. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, (who wrote _Retaliation)_ went on to write _Deadpool._
Hasbro needs to "take the "L," cash di Bonaventura out, get the live action rights back and sell them to somebody who has the vision to turn _G.I. JOE_ in the billion film franchise that it's supposed to be.

@@Its.Chad. Thank you. One day I'm going to have to send you the info in regards to how involved Mattel was with _Barbie_ and how they approached the movie.
Case in point. The CEO of Mattel took a flight to London, (mind you the flight from L.A. to London is 10 ½ hours,) to discuss *ONE* scene that he felt was off brand and wasn't respentative of Barbie.
The GI Joe movies trash. The Transformers movies trash. Combine those two with the same people involved and you get a big pile of trash. However, we might get some cool toys out of it in a 1/18 scale 🙏is the only positive I look forward to with this predictable train wreck.
Yeah - movies hurting IPs don’t help toys in the future IMO, too. And combining two mistreated franchises just equals watering down things that never had opportunity for growth in the first place.
Except snake eyes they were good action movies
I would say I'm indifferent about it. Seeing we are living in a time of reboots, I would have preferred to see a Joe reboot that follows the comics through a scope of reality with a hint of sci-fi light.

I enjoyed Rise of the Beasts (Still better than Revenge of the Fallen, that movie is ASS) and I enjoyed it over the Marky Mark Transformer films too. The Noah character seems fine, and maybe, just maybe, DiVonabeBooBoo doesn't act like a dicklord and we can have a cool crossover. I vaguely recall the 80s comics crossover, but I definitely remember the WW2 era crossover from Dreamwave, that one was cool for me.
Again, at the very least, we get cool toys from this crossover... Maybe.
I’d like to see it from that approach as well. The source comics are right there. Or, OR, they could adapt that new Cobra Commander #1 and the other Dark Energon comics out now - those are pretty universally praised.
I just have NO faith in LDB. That dude just suuuuucks.
I have to say I am completely indifferent to this announcement. In fact, I believe this was nothing but a ploy to sell more Hasbro dollies. The Joe story (the REAL Joe story we love from the comics & cartoons ) has yet to be explored. "The Rise" and "Snake Eyes" notwithstanding (both beyond redemption), Hollywood has been unable to capture what Joe is all about from those stories. If Hollywood was serious about making GI Joe a successful franchise in the theatres, they wouldn't dream of these crossover concepts. What's next? Joe hunting spirits with the Ghostbusters? the Scooby Doo gang?
I completely agree with every point you make. I also believe there’s plenty of people who could write/adapt a great GI JOE script - the big hurdle is people like DiBonaventura who “know better” when they don’t know shit…yet they stick around cause Hollywood.

Gold or crap, im just happy they are still making GI Joe media (not that I'll never see Snake Eyes hahaha). What kills me the most about GI Joe movies is how they neglect Hama's Marvel run. It's 155 issues of content they can work with. Baffles me to no end...

Alright so it's no secret that i've never been a huge fan of Transformers and the Joe/Transformers MARVEL comics are some of my least favorite. DiBonaventura must have something over Paramounts CEO because that guy needs to be taken as far away from Hasbro properties as possible. I just really wish we'd get a good standalone Gi Joe anything (movie, tv show, new animated, etc...) before they start trying to do crossovers. With this crossover we'll have no reference to this iteration of Joe, instead it will be tied to the Transformers world rather than having fleshed out its world already, as done with the MARVEL comics.

@@Its.Chad. I mean the whole point of a crossover is the two franchises are "crossing over." Okay so we have the Transformers movie universe and unless they're saying the Joe universe is the same as Snake Eyes you don't really have anything to crossover with currently.

Hard pass. It would be awesome if a RETCON version of Joe movies came out starting with an origin story centered on ARAH #26. Tell the story of Stalker, Snakeyes, and Stormshadow and that LRRS team and then interject other characters later in the same film, or series of films (Trioligy😂) leading up to the official formation of Joe and Cobra in the 70s to 80s.

I may have finally just grown cynical, but I do not have a lot of faith in this being anything good. After the first TF movie the franchise loses me, and the first one was just ok. I couldn't stand ROC and Retaliation was just ok, Snake Eyes was abysmal. I just don't think TF or Joe will get a really good live action adaptation anymore, especially with De Bonaventura at the helm. Could be just me since I'm a hater though, 🤣

Not excited at all. I would like to see a purely GIJoe live action TV series. I think it might work better with the development of characters and multiple story arcs under a grand arc. I’d love to see them try it at least.
I’m with you on the JOE TV series! I’ve always said they need to do a show like The Unit and drop in/drop out members of the team depending on the environments they go to.

This is a disappointing announcement, but to be expected. They go out of their way to sabotage these movies. How many laxatives do you have to take to produce this many turds. They need to clean house and get people who are actual joe fans to write the scripts.

BvS made over $900M. Last Teansformers made less than $450M and last “GI JOE” movie (which it wasn’t) LOST $80M
So they wish they’re gonna make BvS money.

By the way, do you think that later they will add Rom, Micronauts, Visionautas, Mask and the Power Rangers in this cinematic universe? .
That was always their plan under the CEO before Cox to make a shared movie universe.

I am cautiously optimistic. Rise of Cobra I thought was an okay action movie but didn't feel anything like a GI Joe movie. I like to Italian thought it was pretty good for the most part. Snake eyes was yeah. On the transformer side I didn't care for the Michael Bay movies much. But I have really enjoyed bumblebee and rise of the beast. So if they can keep the progress of going towards upwards with the transformers and stop the decline of GI Joe from Snake Eyes. We may have a shot at a good movie.
