Bird and Taurasi did play Iowa in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2002. And yes, it was the worst shooting performance of the year by Iowa. But that UConn team was unbeatable. Bird, Taurasi, Swin Cash, Tamika Williams... they were a buzzsaw.
It is said that the 2002 team could still be the best team ever assembled from top to bottom, imagine Taurasi coming off the bench. Asjha Jones was the starter over Taurasi who was a sophomore.

Been watching women's college, pro, and international for almost 40 years. No other team has ever approached the 2002 UConn women. Unbelievably good.
