Yup, that's right. MO is a half Black. Check more of Alamat they have many MV for you guys to react. ALAMAT's concept is more with our Fil culture, arts, and traditions through their style of music. Someday to be recognized internationally, on how Filipino culture is so rich and diverse. Thats why I really support them a lot. Not only that, they are they all talented.
Dayang is in Tausug languange an Indigenous People from Mindanao. You can check also their Dayang R&B and Acoustic audio version available from their official channels.
Tausug here. We're not really considered as an IP. In fact, we're not covered by the Indigenous People's Act which is a law that was created for the IPs back in 1998. Like you would not call a Kapampangan, Ilocano, Cebuano, Negrense or Tagalog as an IP. We're just Tausug of the Sulu Archipelago whose History can be traced as far as 13th Century via the Sulu Sultanate. We've only been officially part of the Philippines after the USA conquered us after a massive bloodshed in the 20th century.
"Alamat" means legend or folktale. also means origin. - the concept of the group is all about Filipino culture, and the members represent and occasionally sing their parts in their respective languages on where they are from, here are the members representation: Tomas: Bicolano R-Ji: Waray Taneo: Ilocano Alas: Bisaya Mo: English and Tagalog Jao: Kapampangan You would notice that prevalently in their debut, that they were singing in 9 different languages in one song. since the concept of the group is all about the Phlippine culture, the title of their songs, the music videos, and choreographies always include any traditional Filipino roots
Another song i recommend checking out from them is their song Maharani. The music video for that song have a member from Bini making a special appearance.
Alamat means legend or folktale, the members came from different parts of the Phillippines, some even belongs or have indigenous roots, Mo is half black. 'Maharani', 'Day and Night' and 'Say you love me' next please those are my favorite songs of them!
This group is known to promote Philippine culture. Play sometimes include Philippine dances in the choreography, use Filipino instruments in their songs, or have Filipino inspired fashion in their music videos
I hope you can check out their other songs like Maharani, Say you love me and Noli. Mo is half Black american. And we have 180 different languages in the Philippines.
ALAMAT means 'Legend' in English, sALAMAT for reacting to Dayang MV! Hope you can check more of their songs, no Skip discography promise!.. And yeah, Dayang has RNB version and Acoustic Version too, check that out too!.. My ALAMAT songs recommendations are; MAHARANI (means Great Queen) Gayuma ( being Enchanted) ASWANG ( Monster in Philippine folklore that can shape-shift) DAGUNDONG ( means to Rumble or making noise, the MV is referred to PH History during Spanish & American Colonization, The Battle of Mactan, Holy Treaty of Paris, KKK, etc.) ILY ILY ( dedicated to the children who's parents that are OFW) Note that always turn on the subtitle because they always incorporate Philippine Languages in a songs not Dialects.. Thank you again! Hoping for more ALAMAT RVs soon!..
A very unique and talented PPOP group, not afraid to try different genres. More Alamat RVs, please. maharani, Aswang, ABKD, and a lot more, a no-skip discography indeed ♥️
This is such a great song. It's actually a sort of sequel to Maharani. Both "Maharani" and "Dayang" are monarchical titles of women in court back in the precolonial era. The dance in the MV is based on Filipino folk dance and martial arts! I have a twitter thread pinned to the top of my page about all the cultural references. Alamat (means Legend) is currently the only PPop group that sings in multiple Filipino languages. Each member comes from a different region and speaks a different language. I recommend Maharani if you liked this song! But they do some HEAVIER stuff, like Dagundong talks about the history of Spanish colonization, and the MV of Kasmala is about when indigenous Filipinos were displayed in USA in human zoos, especially 1904 St Louis World's Fair. They also have ILY ILY which is about families broken up by Filipino migrant workers.
Alamat is my favorite Male P-Pop group. Filipino R&B, Filipino culture, multilingual, just fire! As a Filipino American, their music hits different, straight vibes. Check out more of their music please! Much love and prayers for the success of your channel, from this Filipina in Detroit MI!
As a Tausug, Dayang can have different meanings in context. It could mean Beloved/Darling or Princess/Lady of a Royal Court. "Kalasahan ta kaw" can be straight up "I love you" but less intense.
Highly recommend you guys check out their song Dagundong. It's a very different style to Dayang and has hella powerful lyrics and MV (as well as being a bop).
Please react to the Holy Trinity of Pasulong album MAHARANI GAYUMA ASWANG if you like more hard-hitting songs DAGUNDONG & KASMALA for ballads, SA PANAGINIP NALANG & WALANG HANGGAN for experimental x traditional = ILY ILY
tbh I was kinda stressed you called the instrumental afro beats, we really need true filipino representation because filipinos (some even they live in philippines) dont even know their culture

The city is PASIG. The statue in their background is called "The Victor". It is the tallest lighting projection art installation in the world.
