Andrew Bridgen stood up in parliament and has said similar things, only for elected MPs to walk out.
The lockdowns were bad enough, the consequences were worse.
MPs don't want to hear the truth because their pockets were lined.

He is telling these people that by their own incompetence, ignorance and in some cases extreme greed they are complicate in mass murder and the destruction of countless millions of other peoples lives. Who is going to admit to that? People like myself on the other hand are happy to hear the truth as we were not incompetent or ignorant and tried our absolute best to warn our fellow human beings so that they would not be deliberately culled, made permanently sick or lose their livelihoods.

I agree with you wrt to your points about the attitudes of the main moves and shakers, but what I find bizzare is the lack of anger, or at least philosophical reflection, about it from the general populace who were the very ones who (needlessly) suffered because of this mass delusion (that lockdowns were effective). One can call up a considerable amount of evidence to support the argument that lockdown was a mistake, and point to the scant/non-existent evidence to suggest they did any good, yet the best response we seem to get from those who supported it is a mumbling response and a desire to swiftly change the topic, or, worse, the "I don't care about your facts, my intuitive beliefs tell me I was right!" types of the response.
I had many blistering arguments about it during the height of the lunacy, but the imperative to do that wore off, I suppose, as some semblance of sanity was restored, and in the aftermath my appetite for more rows about it has declined, too.

@@chiefsittingstill6061 Sadly for you the facts run completely counter to your position.
Comparing the responses of the UK, Sweden and Denmark to COVID-19 using counterfactual modelling
While suppression of the epidemic (a reduction in the time-varying reproduction number to below 1) was achieved in all three countries, mortality varied substantially. Initially, Denmark and Sweden had similar epidemic trajectories, suggesting similar levels of infection seeding in each country. Following the introduction of controls between March 13th and 18th, Denmark’s epidemic flattened more rapidly than Sweden’s, and by August Sweden had a five-fold higher mortality than Denmark. The UK trajectory differed from those Scandinavian countries in its higher early mortality, suggesting earlier or greater infection seeding. Nevertheless, despite its higher infection prevalence prior to the introduction of controls, by August the UK’s cumulative mortality was similar to Sweden’s.
Our key conclusion is that under conditions of high growth and high infection prevalence, small differences in the timing and effectiveness of control strategies have dramatic effects on the resulting numbers of cases and deaths.

@@chiefsittingstill6061 How do we know how angry or not they are? Even if they were what are they expected to do about it? Protest is almost invariably organised and this costs lots of money to be in any way effective. If a few million turned up in Parliament Square all the BBC and the rest would do is largely ignore it and then change the subject ASAP. As a general rule a law or policy only ever got changed because the establishment or some very rich oligarchs wanted to change it and so helped finance and promote the protest or movement. Thus the illusion of democracy is maintained and attention diverted. EVERYTHING comes from the top not even folk music or tank tops comes from the bottom.

I recall being shouted at by friends on social media because I decided to take my one hour's exercise by getting in the car, driving a mile out of town and walking by myself in deserted fields, rather than - as the government had dictated - directly from my doorstep, as this meant walking through more populated streets. The responses to this were quite literally hysterical, I was being irresponsible, but not one single person could explain why taking my exercise where I was more likely to encounter other people was being more responsible. The only reason they gave was that this was simply what the government had told us to do. This irrationality and hysteria were indeed very unsettling.

Some of us have not forgotten. What we need to remember is who continued to promote the thoughtless herd mentality, rather than taking their responsibility as MPs, Civil Servants and most especially the heads of the medical establishment. The question is 'are these people fit for purpose?'.

An amazing speech - fluent, coherent, measured and trenchant. Mr Hannon has done the world a service, though my fear is that all too few people will get to hear it. Those in power may be a lost cause, but there are a handful of enlightened legislators around the world who deserve to hear this speech and who will be fortified by it . . .

Well said. It was mass panic on the part of governments and caused misery and enormous economic harm. May it never happen again though I fear it will. Even now they refuse to do a proper cost benefit analysis.

Lockdown was very sucessul if the measure was wealth transfer from the middle/working class to the 1% and government via an inflation tax. This is a continuation of QE which vastly increased the wealth of the 1% via inflated asset prices. Again it's the middle/working class that paid the price via unaffordable housing.

I thought all along it was disastrous. My children's education suffered because of politicising a virus; people with serious diseases could not be treated; mental health deteriorated; some folks made a ton of money, others partied, and the children whose education was flippantly cast aside will still be paying for this shit show in years to come.

The ONS changed their methodology to reduced excess deaths and silence Bridgen.
So right now, ONS excess deaths are lower than the ‘norm’ … But, actual deaths, and hospital admissions, are currently high for this time of year … and increasing.
    Isn’t that strange !?!
