Heyyyyy!! Always good to be here. My travel schedule is a little more intense this summer, so my videos are a little further apart. Not a lot of contiguous time at the farm to be filming and working (plus, without a tractor, I'm a bit limited with what I can do). :-)
Hey David! Thanks for coming back to check on progress. Lots more to come in the next few weeks I hope (fingers crossed). Yeah, the weed growth is just insane how fast it takes over. It is disheartening to look at, but I know it is only a cover of weeks (versus what I started with last summer that required a bulldozer to clear). I can't wait to clear things up again!!
Hello my homesteading friend! :) I would advise you to look at a few videos of how trees are cut, how you are doing it is dangerous and could end up with you getting hurt, and that is something we all wish to not happen :) You need to make a felling cut and a controlled one with a hinge, so that you wont end up with it going the wrong way over you, safety first, always! And I am most happy to see that your shaft to the tractor has been found, youtubers are awesome!
Heyyyy - thanks for coming back and leaving a comment! Yeah, with these trunks I didn't cut them the normal way you would cut a full standing tree because they were 15-ish feet tall trunks that were 6"-10" in diameter - nothing overly large or heavy. I was able to lift them and drag them around in front of the doors of the barn. If you look back to my previous tree-cutting videos, all the other trees I've cut have been cut with the proper technique. These were small and light enough I just wanted to give them an angled cut so that gravity would drop them where I wanted them. :-) Stay tuned though - hopefully progress ramps up in the coming couple weeks!!
Believe it or not, Robert, nobody in my area has a forestry mulcher service for rent. The nearest one was 3 hours away and for the size of the job they wouldn't come. SO, on to plan-B :-)
Yay you got your driveshaft. Now you can fix it and get back to business. I'm glad we could help you out. Just man $600 for a part. I guess it goes with everything else these days. I hope works out for you!
Yes!!! A million thanks - the company had one shaft left and I snagged it. The tractor place should have it done this weekend sometime for pickup so I should hopefully be back in business next week!! Stay tuned 😁
Congrats on the part for the tractor. Sucks that the mini backhoe didn't work out for you. You definitely need to watch a few videos on cutting trees. Can be a dangerous thing if they fall the wrong way or even split when falling. Guess things are a little better on my end. Had a A1C done the other day, it's down to 6.8. the Dr is talking about getting me off insulin within the next 6 months. Sad thing there's several things she wants done also. Who knows what all will come of this mess, I'm not expecting any miracles of any kind. So what's happened with all the plants you had started?
Hi Lonnie!! Well, the mini backhoe has a place on the farm - it just isn't as strong as I had hoped. The backhoe hydraulics seems strong enough, but they are so strong that they drag the tractor across the ground, and even lift it up. If the tractor was heavier it would probably work better. Eh, it's all a learning experience!!! And the trees... people have sent a bunch of comments. I didn't cut them the normal way you would cut a full standing tree because they were 15-ish feet tall trunks that were 6"-10" in diameter - nothing overly large or heavy. Heyyyy Lonnie!!! I’ve been traveling the country for work. Hahaha. The summer months are crazy, and with the tractor being down and the other issues at the farm, not much has been done. HOWEVER, I have a new video coming out this weekend I hope with some cool updates. :-) I hope you’re well!!
@@BuyingTheFarm I've managed to control my blood sugar well enough that I'm able to get away from all insulin. The back issues are still a major pain in the ass, but I'll be living with that the rest of my life.
Eh, livestock isn't an option for me - I travel for work over half the year, and the farm is a bit of a drive from my home - there's nobody there to watch them or maintain them unfortunately.
That dirt at the beginning is beautiful!
Yeah - there's a lot of beauty on this property if you can look past the general state of things. Hahaha. baby-steps!
Welcome back, "NEIGHBOR" 😎

Progress is always good!
It sure is, Wally. It seems a little slower and less dramatic than last year, but things are slowly moving forward!!
G'day the farm is looking good mate
Baby steps. Unfortunately I lost most of the summer to equipment failures. Hopefully 2024 will be much better!
Lovely video well done
Hi Brian - thank you very much! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Hire a bobcat with brush multcher and brush Grapple attachment. Brush multcher will cut everything below 8".an eis will allow temp culvert

Well, one problem licked!! That's a great start!! :-)
Buy two goates and electric fence then sell at fall to arabs for meat
