Not just saying this because I'm a Hammer but I think he's better off staying with us for another season. He's still improving. The prevailing wisdom at the club is that he can add goals and assists to his game but as it stands only United have a first team spot where he would immediately improve them. If he goes to Chelsea or City he would cost them something when replacing who they have. In a year, if he continues growing and adds those goals and assists, he walks into any side. Obviously I'd rather West Ham build a team around him but I fear that's unlikely until 2023 or later, when we are more likely to find new ownership.

Biggest thing I noticed in this, which don't think ive seen from any other footballer, every time he goes to answer a question he pauses and takes a breath. Just seems like he is composing and really thinking about the answer. This then allows him to get it across in a really good way.
Brilliant episode, my favourite by far I think!

What a chilled, relaxed and confident lad Declan comes across as. You can't get mad at him and he's proper likeable. He articulates incredibly well and thats testament to his family, education and life lessons/experiences. Brilliant interview. 👏👏
Unpopular opinion: Would absolutely love him at Utd, he's the type of player, personality we need, but at the same time with the way we are, play and continue to be, I wouldnt want him at us only because we have a very bad habit of ruining young, top quality talents and it'd be an absolute shame to see him decline.

Spot on with what you have said, United need him badly but does he need United, would he better off going back to Chelsea and playing with mount and back to club that rejected him, I think that's what will happen but soooo want him at United. Best English holding midfielder iv ever seen and I am including Carrick who I liked to watch as well.

Great great interview. Declan can and will be a role model to a new generation of footballers looking for inspiration in a time of so much controversy. Gary showing his skills to lead a casual chat is also nice to see. As a west ham fan its painful to see how obvious it is he's gonna leave, but I think it's also obvious he'll always hold us in his heart. I'll keep on hating some of the prems big names, like Chelsea Liverpool and United, but, no matter where he goes, I'll always be a fan of him. Go win it all, Declan ⚒️

I've never really listened to Declan before, but Gary at 18:30 is so spot on. What an honorable and switched-on kid, looking to legit support and believe in his family by making an agency from them, knowing they understand his true wealth. Now the speculation is what it is, but a head like this may just settle a disgruntled Man UTD locker room and put some egos in check

thought Declan Rice came across as a nice switched on young man with no airs and graces, lovely to see and also for him to acknowledge the input of his family. As for Gary I have never been a fan, but I do find my opinion changing as he seems to be (as he matures) reflecting on some old opinions / attitudes and certainly shows insights (as regards football is played today) that his old self never had. He comes across as an honest and genuine man, not all football do.

As with my beloved Hammers, I fear he"ll leave us...life will go on though; he's a winner.
