Same with Linda Hamilton in the end fight in the steel mill. She has an identical twin sister too. In fact they used her twin when Sarah was digging the bullets out of the T-800's back. Because of the "mirror" in the room. All practical.

Had no clue about any of the fandom or events or trailers or anything. It was magical. Like someone watching Shaw shank or the sixth sense for the the first time. I honestly thought when Jeremy sinned “hasta la vista, baby” the sin would just be “Jeremy is sinning this scene.”
Also this is why I like the director’s cut, because not only had the T1000 not interacted with Sarah at that point, it was also glitching like crazy so it might not have felt confident enough trying to mimic her.

The only reason any Terminator is able to go back is because they're covered in living human skin, or are able to replicate it.
28: Not to mention police have authority to go where most people can't at any time, and most people don't question it.
40: A lot of people protest in response to Terminator saying to John "He'll live," along the lines of, "What's stopping him from bleeding to death?" To which I've always explained that the Terminator later reveals that he has detailed files on human anatomy. Also, having the T-1000 emerge from a skin-cocoon would kind of kill the misdirect Cameron was trying to pull off, since the audience was supposed to believe Arnie was the killer and that the other guy was the protector, like in the first movie, until the shootout in the mall.
Not that it ended up mattering, since the marketing department spoiled that twist, but Cameron couldn't have known that would happen.

    • @noahvance6160

Also, there's fact that when you know the twist from the get-go, it makes the small moments foreshadowing who's the hero and who's the villain that much more obvious, i.e, the T-1000 impulsively killing a cop in order to steal his clothes, whereas the worst thing the T-800 does in order to get the biker's clothes is beat him up really bad after he lashes out at him in retaliation, as well as how after the T-800 suits up, Bad to the Bone starts playing, conveying how said moment is supposed to be seen as cool as opposed to intimidating. Neither of these moments straight up give away the twist, since we don't get any more hints like these until when the twist finally occurs, but these moments from a framing/establishing-character perspective can make it easier to see from the get-go that the T-800 is supposed to be the one we're rooting for if you go into the movie knowing the twist beforehand.

The Dyson sin can also be interpreted in another way. The time loop occurs after time travel was first invented. so basically in the very first timeline when time travel was first created dyson might have created it all much later than when T2 says it was created, say for example 2010. Time travel was created in say, 2045 and skynet sent the first T800 from the first terminator to kill John Connor and that moment is precisely when the time loop started when the terminator technology was first left back in the timeline of the first movie.🤷‍♂️

YES. Finally, there's a way for me to watch Jeremy's Terminator 2 video without YT telling me "can't do that in the UK". Seriously, f*ck you, RUclips.
Onto the movie thoughts. I LOVED this movie and the previous one. Both those Terminator films are two of the GOAT Sci-Fi Action films out there in the real world, and I trust that they're the only two Terminator films worth watching (also the only two I MYSELF have seen). The inclusion of John Connor here is really cool, and his badassery makes the film itself far more enjoyable, and adds to the factor of it being nice to see Sarah Connor return for round 2 with James Cameron's Terminator Franchise. It was heartbreaking to see Arnold throw in the towel at the end, too.

    • @TheNotverysocial
      @TheNotverysocial 3 года назад +2

@@dtkedtyjrtyj I'd argue it did not need to become a franchise to begin with, as the story was pretty self contained to begin with. In fact, T2 owes its existence to the budget and time constraints that hovered over the first film, or Jim'd made it just one movie. Like Tim Burton, he isn't fond of making franchises out of standalone movies, and piling one sequel on top of another.
However, the argument against T2 being it as John Connor shall not exist is perfectly valid, and T3, which is full of shortcomings was onto something with its inevitability theme. Uplifting as making our own luck is and controlling our own fates, the plain fact is there are always variables beyond our control, and things simply happen. The universe is too far and wide for such miniature specks like us to have total control over it. And given John's existence depends on it, the downer ending is justified.

A couple of things I notice about Terminator 1 and 2 when you put them together as their own thing (as they should be):
    1. Terminators will go after the parents of the target if they can't trace the target itself (T1: Sarah's mom; T2: Foster parents, then Sarah)
    2. If you extend that internal logic to Skynet itself, then within that logic, the first Terminator to be sent back would be the pristine, advanced T-1000 to kill John, followed by the T-800 to kill Sarah. Following this logic, John would send a copy of that same T-800 model first before sending back Reese to blow the whole place.
    3. For an action film series filled with high-concepts, there's great attention to symbolic details. Sunglasses representing the T-800's shift toward humanity and Sarah shift away from it. Kyle Reese appearing like an angel to send Sarah on her mission (falling from the skies in 1 and angel lighting on him in 2). T-1000 and T-800 dying in factories that make the core components of their being, as well as a hellscape for the T-1000.
    4. John Connor is correct in every key decision: Choosing to save Sarah, choosing to save the T-800 from Sarah, choosing to save Dyson from Sarah. The born savior of humanity is showing his instincts as a leader and protector of humanity.
Anyway, just some thoughts that come to mind when re-watching the first two films 40 billion times. Hope you guys might enjoy one of these points.

Hey Birdman, I have a question about this movie.
You repeatedly say the first 2 Terminator films are operating in a loop, meaning everything that happens has already happened, rinse and repeat.
I'm not disagreeing, especially if James Cameron's confirmed this but I am confused, I always thought T1 was a closed loop, seeing as the kid takes the same picture of Sarah that Reese was given by John. Everything lines up with Reese's account of John. But in T2, aren't they changing things the moment Sarah goes after Dyson? I thought by destroying Dyson's work,THAT was when timeline's altered, no?

    • @Th3Birdman
      @Th3Birdman  3 года назад +5

No, that's correct: this movie breaks the loop. Once she goes after Dyson, this causes the events of RotM and Genysis in the original timeline, and the events of the Dark Fate timeline. Everything was the same up until the moment Sarah goes after Dyson-- originally, Sarah teaches John how to survive and then she dies sometime later (which also happens in RotM).

On the T1000 not copying Sarah's shape and voice, there is a reason.
Earlier in the movie, the T1000 realises that although it can mimick other people, it cannot copy their personalities. This becomes evident when John Connor realises something is wrong when speaking to the t1000 over the phone. After getting to sarah connor, he probably calculated that John would have a higher probability of coming to help her if SHE was the one to call out to him.
Additional: the T1000 DID suffer damage from being frozen. The scene where his hand sticks to the rail (and colour) is proof of this. He correctly assumed his mimickery would not be perfect: his legs take the colour of the floor when he is face to face with john at the very end.

4:27 An interesting detail about this movie and the tough guys is that in this instance the T-800 was the one that instigated the fight and the other guys were just trying to stop what appeared to be a lunatic wrecking the joint. Later in the movie when John has some fun with two other jocks, he pretends that the T-800 was attacking him and they actually came to help him and after revealing that he was just crying wolf, they weren't going to do anything but curse them out and walk away until the T-800 put the piece to their face. The point I am trying to make is this movie was subverting the "tough guy brawl in the bar" trope and tried to make these thugs a bit more reasonable which I can appreciate. (this has nothing to do with the sin, it's just something I liked about the movie :D)
6:30 I figured the T-1000 just wanted to get the drop on the cop as conveniently as possible and without him wasting ammo that the T-1000 could use complete his mission. Another important detail is this builds the Terminator's character as a strategist who is a cunning and physically powerful. It also helps that his attack was bit cleaner than the T-800's to help build up the twist later.
10:00 Would mildly argue that we didn't need to see the intersection, in the same we don't need to see Luke building a new lightsaber, but it was fun looking at how they shot this scene. The behind the scenes content of this movie is just as great as the movie!
11:17 I love the intensity of those two scenarios. They (Reese and the Terminator) go to a world with no hope of returning and only one thought in mind: complete the mission.
12:12 "A flattened out human" isn't as grim as "everyone piled into the Grand Canyon" so there's a plus :P.
12:33 You know, Cinema Sins COULD write those paragraphs on why this wouldn't work, but felt they didn't need to. Would be nice if they did to add some weight to their sin.
13:09 I don't care what they come up with. Little scenes like this are probably my favorite because they explain why John Connor might be the best underage character. He's not some passive character in a movie about him (looking at you Jupiter Ascending and Rogue One) but is actually making important decisions and moving the plot forward while also having clear established goals and motivations. Had the Transformers movies did this ('cuz I care about that franchise), those movies would be a lot less egregious in terms of story.
14:34 How is that funny? No really, Cinema Sins, what is hilarious about a guy getting his leg shot out from under him? "Intended to be a funny scene"... no it's not! It builds on the previous scene about John explaining to the T-800 not to kill anyone and this was the result: not crunching the dude's skull in.
17:14 And the last little bit of this already too long comment is the scene where John and the T-800 are connecting. This is why Terminator 2: Judgement Day is the greatest action movie. Whereas in other movies there is just action and sometimes plot, this movie has the action and the plot work better together. John Wick, movie is worth its mettle, but the T-800's arc about becoming human or "understanding why you cry" and John finally finding the father he always needed only to have to let him go hits you in the feels more than John Wick gutting several people over a dog he didn't actually care about; remember: "It wasn't about the dog."

Dark Fate made this film irrelevant for killing John in the first few minutes.
    Fuck that movie!
