"She's not like other girls but she's just like you"
Karina deserves a Nobel price for this sentence alone
It's a prize. They don't charge you for it.
JK. I'm just messing with you.
@@ascetic3312 oh ya they charge 20 billion dollars for you just to get nominated alone.
that line is perfect
@Kairo Campbell You beat me to it!
Maybe a YA novel episode? Book covers, or a character each. Protagonist (not like other protagonists), the 2 beautiful boys and the villain, maybe? Or a 3rd boy and break everything.
Broke: Jacob is the bad boy of drawfee
Woke: Jacob is the tired dad and KARINA is the bad boy of drawfee
Jacob = tired dad
Nathan = well-meaning mom
Karina = rebellious teenage boy
Julia = weird but cool neighbor
Caldwell = fun uncle who only visits sometimes
David = beleaguered housekeeper just barely holding everything together
Karina's demeanor changes completely depending on which co-host she's interacting with. She sounds like a bully when she's talking to Jacob, a caring baby sitter when she's talking to Nathan, and a rad college roommate when she's talking to Julia. It's hilarious.
@@alexanderkonczal3908 Oh my god, that's exactly it!
@@IsaacMayerCreativeWorks very good description of David lmao
Karina is a menace to society and I love her
"She's not like other girls, but she is just like you." Is the most realistic description of all YA protagonists
Ikr lol
😂😂😂
This is probably my favorite Karina roast. I come back to this episode sometimes just to watch that clip.
It also made me think of fanfic y/n, which is sort of just the ya protagonist but worse
I dont mind those types of stories tbh. Sometimes you just want a nice fun story. Not everything has to be a classical novel.
My internet died immediately after Julia said 'famously I know how to draw monkeys and gorillas' and I really thought just no-one knew how to reply to that and took a dramatic pause
☠☠
Karina: "What do handsome boys wear?"
Nathan: "I certainly don't know."
Nathan's a mood and a half, but also he should know that he's handsome.
And Jacobs the pretty boy.
Nathan is big handsome sasquatch (halloweensona) and Jacob is pretty and could play the main love interest in one of those high school drama shows. Ya know, where the cast is always whole adults.
The whole friend group is handsome
His jojo sona made me feel things. So yes, handsome boy!
Nathan is a sunshine handsome boy
The “ART” in the title is very aggressive. I can’t help but imagine Jacob writing it in denial whispering “this IS art I SWEAR!”

“Every Drawfee episode Nathan remakes Brave” hits different after the Merobiba incident.
As soon as he said the singer was Brave all I could hear her saying was “I’m Merobiba” 😂
“Merobiba, you’ve done it again. I wished my mom was a frisbee, and now, she’s a frisbee.”
Karina: *talks about how The Mummy traumatized her as a child*
Julia: --so, The Mummy is like my comfort movie.
Ah, so that’s why Julia is my favorite cast member.
Same Julia
Karina: Uh huh
I was also traumatised as a child by the scarabs in The Mummy. Then when I was a bit older I learned they were the same as dung beetles, which definitely made them seem way less scary.
@@genericname8727 So you're telling me that the scarabs that walk inside of you had also possibly been touching dung just before, and that's supposed to make things better???
The fact that I accidentally skipped ahead and then back again right when Nathan was saying "Maybe you missed a bit and you have to go back and watch again" will haunt me
No joke; I scrolled down towards the end of the video while they were talking and Nathan was saying the line right as I was reading your comment. I think we are both cursed now.
For those who wanna know, "magical realism" is a predominantly latin american genre characterized by the narration of mundane but magical events in a way that gives. The reader a sense of wonder and familiarity, like seeing a sunset changing colors, or thousands of butterflies flying in front of you, but like, written
Thanks, I was looking for someone explaining what MR really is. It's a pretty niche genre so not surprising that they didn't know.
It has fantasy elements, but they are never really mentioned in the story.. for example, one of the police officers is a Werewolf, but it's never referenced as something special inside the story. Kinda like the scenes from Last Action Hero, where the police officers get assigned a cartoon animal as a partner.
Wait, isn't it a largely realistic setting/story with some minor supernatural elements that aren't really acknowledged beyond just kinda...being there without necessarily impacting the plot in a major fashion or being extremely out of the ordinary?
@@teaartist6455 thats urban fantasy :)
@@lixyororke
No, urban fantasy is when the fantasy elements ARE a part of the plot, not just unusual set-dressing, for lack of a better term, and they can range from full on fantasy world to fantasy in a world close to ours, though it doesn't really need to be present day, anything set a decent bit after the industrial revolution in terms of vibe will do.
Unless we're talking the paranormal romance stuff that's occasionally called urban fantasy but that's different enough to be it's own thing (for starters, the entire focus is a (usually very creepy and unhealthy) romance story).
Basically, if you're working with a vampire and that's just the way it is without it being a major plot point, it's magic realism.
If you're working with a vampire and that is plot relevant in more than "he works the night shift" kinda way, it's (urban) fantasy.
EDIT: BUT there's definitely enough overlap that some can't be neatly fit into either and in the end the general writing style and themes also play a part in what one would end up calling it.
"We have ideas at home!"
"This is the idea at home."
This episode is already off to such a strong start. I love it already. This is NOT a disaster intro.
There are no disaster intros. The worse they think the intro is, the more I love it.
At this point all the Drawfee intros give off the vibe of a tired substitute teacher desperately trying and failing to keep a group of middle schoolers under control
The actual teacher has secretly abandoned their job to vacation in the Bahamas
Except this substitute teacher has been the teacher for about 4 years
It's even better that in any given episode each one of them can be the middle schoolers OR the tired substitute teacher.
And after the 4 years in the Bahamas, they found a following that are into learning their ways
🤣
They have been doing this for years and draw in this exact order each time yet jacob still sounds like he is afraid Karina will just *refuse* to draw.
She almost did on the 'opposite art styles' ep.
You could say he's in dr-awe of her!

I imagined a feral audio engineer throwing a frisbee at a moving train while precariously holding a boom mic to get a cool sound and someone yells at him to stop and he tells them to shut up. It’s very suspenseful.
I love this idea, there's so much energy and motion
I imagined an audio engineer who still lives with his mom playing a very dangerous game of frisbee with someone while blasting music
His mom is telling him he’s about to get really hurt since he’s (why? Idk) and obvi the audio engineer is telling his mom shut up.

Jacob the yogi villain
I love this
34:12 I've never felt more in-tune with another person than Karina in this moment because I too watched the mummy at a very young age and had nightmares about the scarabs for weeks. Specifically the scene where they curse the guy to be the mummy and mummify him alive then dump scarabs into his sarcophagus. It was worst-case death scenario for me at that age
Same here, the specific scene that traumatized me was when the scarab crawls under the guys skin up to his head and eats into his brain and then he runs into a wall and kills himself
For karinas prompt i imagined a super generic YA vampire boy in his prison cell jus surrounded with icecream wrapping and hes still eating another one and he looks confused and asks "what problem?"
For Karina’s scene, I imagined that the ice cream addict was being imprisoned for stealing ice cream, and their friends visit them in jail and say something like “you have a problem” and they’re just yelling angrily “WHAT PROBLEM?”
My IMMEDIATE idea when Jacob described Nathan’s scene was an audio engineer leaning precariously over a ledge, preparing to throw a frisbee at a difficult-to-reach piece of equipment in the distance while shouting at a person behind him.
Mine was that they were filming a frisbee dog toy commercial and the dog was being way too loud cause it was so so excited.
Evryone knows that's how the pros adjust their microphones !!
I was imagining an audio engineer throwing a frisbee at like, a vampire or monster that was about to ruin the take
I thought for sure it would involve the engineer using the frisbee as a recording medium, to the disbelief of the cowards telling him it won't work.
Mine was a very clich'e thriller movie poster (look up the poster for the movie 'A Walk Amongst the Tombstones' for reference) but with the main guy holding a frisbee instead of a gun. I know its missing the audio ingeneer part but I got stuck picturing different movie posters like that
"we have ideas at home"
ideas at home: *room full of vampires*
I get so irrationally giddy every time malicious Jacob shows up.
When Nathan said “Does he get sucked inside the jeans” I laughed so loud I heard it echoe down the hall
That wasn’t an echo.........
The beastly “embrace suck” on his eyebrows is written in arabic letters. I understand why Jacob didn’t see it at first, I didn’t too
Edit: "arabic letters" btw, it doesnt make sense in arabic at all. It's closer to Malaysian 'Jawi'.
Even weirder it’s not Arabic for "embrace suck" nor is it transliterated so it would say "embrace suck" if you sounded it out, they just used Arabic letters that vaguely resembles Latin letters
@@obviousalias132 woah
For some reason they chose to separate each letter when they're meant to be connected to form actual words. I speak fluent arabic and I can't even read what they're trying to say
@@sariyordi5835 Same here. I'm not fluent, but I can read it. Some of there letter are butchered to a point where they're unrecognizable. It looks like they're used a mix of the joined and separate writing of the letters, but left them all separate. Also, is the last (or first if you are reading left to right) letter supposed to be a "و" that they mirrored??
Edit: First half could be "لعنى" which looks like it means Cursed? But it looks accidental because I tried figuring out the next one which looked like "قعْهعطسو", and translate gave me "sneeze and sneeze". Oh well
@@sariyordi5835 I tried this through translate, but I'm not sure it's accurate. Can you translate this? "لعنى قعهعظسم"
Really enjoy that all recent comments are Merobiba-related.
I know like a hundred people have already said it but this episode hits different in a post-Merobiba society
9:19
"If you could throw a frisbee, would ya?"
I lost it here
There's something very fitting about Julia's comfort movie traumatizing the other hosts
For Nathan’s drawing, I imagined a Pixar short with the singer doing her thing and dancing while singing, and the sentient frisbee is trying so hard to ruin the recording. She avoids the frisbee every time with different dance moves and the audio engineer is just watching so nervously. The frisbee’s “attacks” always miss, and so he’s hitting walls, instruments etc., and it’s unintentionally adding cool percussion sounds to the song - the song gets wilder and better as the short goes on.
"That's what a spoon looks like...I think." killed me. Then the gem, "Yeah. Up the threat."
I just wanted to clarify that what Karina was thinking of is Urban Fantasy (example: twilight, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson). While magical realism is a much more abstract form of fantasy. It’s often more metaphorical and dream like. A great example would be Pan’s Labyrinth. It’s also usually tied to Latin American culture.
Still a great video. I’m just a huge literature nerd and through I should say something.
As a fellow lit nerd I approve of this message 😃👍
I was imagining a very dedicated audio engineer in a park getting bird noises for a documentary. A kid throws a frisbee and the audio engineers helper try's to warn him but gets told to shut up. The audience doesnt know if the audio engineer is dumb or over confident but can only wait in an anticipation to see if he gets hit in the head by the frisbee.
I picture Sweetums hanging in the sky from a chain motor behind a dozen hanging speakers reaching precariously over the mosh pit of a concert to fix the air gap in a rat's nest of audio cables. Meanwhile the director is screaming in his headset that the house left audio is dead while the sound engineer screams back 'Shut up. We're on it" While a frisbee thrown from the crowd turns on a doomed trajectory towards the back of his head.
This episode has a god damn Merobiba joke in it one year in the past
The manga series "Elf-San Wa Yaserarenai" has an elf in it who literally can't return to the world of the elves because she's addicted to ice cream.
Every challenge video where Jacob doesn't draw increases my anticipation for the one where Jacob does 3 challenges in a row.
"HELL YEAH!".... "Yes boy, ice-cream" got me picturing Kratos in God of War eating ice cream with his son them both going "MMMMMM", then Kratos says "Yes boy, ice cream" when they lock eyes and have a father-son bonding moment. You guys have an awesome dynamic as friends, honestly, I'm a little envious lol. (low key crush on Karina 😋)
I love how for every single one of their takes on the frisbee thing they're all not the obvious thing and they all completely ignored the warning part of the prompt, yet they all talk about how weird Julia's was.
Like the easy answer is just an audio engineer where either his head or equipment is about to be hit a frisbee and someone's warning him that's about to happen but he's yelling at them to shut up. Instead they all went with the wildest shit I've ever heard for their gut reaction and I love them for it
The eyebrows being embrace suck was such a big twist
For Nathan's prompt I imagine an audio engineer doing a live recording of the ambiance of a frisbee field for some kinda project, and he's in the middle of the field to collect the best audio clips, which is stupid, and his assistant is calling out to watch for a frisbee coming towards his head, to which the audio engineer responds with "SHUT UP!" before getting KO'd by a plastic disc.
I cannot believe how spot on my idea for Nathan's drawing was to Julia's idea. The first thing that came to mind was this audio engineer hanging off the edge of a skyscraper holding a boom out into the air trying to capture the sound of a frisbee as it flies by. And of course, them yelling at everyone present to shut up.
