With Kaladin I learned what depression was and that I suffered from it. With Kakadin I understood that depression does not go away, but that you can learn to live with it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this song, for this beautiful tribute to who, to a great extent, taught me to fly again. A hug from Seville, Spain.

It won't be like that for me" Kaladin said. "You told me it would get worse." "It will," Wit said, "but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I've been listening to this on repeat this morning; it really captures the wave, the ebb and flow of "some days I'll be closer to falling, but I'm finding the reasons to stay." You encapsulated Kaladin's emotional arc through Rhythm of War in a single song, and it's lovely. I love the voice of Sylphrena as he's finding his words; the voices are beautiful in perfect harmony. All the instruments you play and mix together to create a single one of these, all the effort; it's just fantastic. Thank you for working hard to make these.

    Dije que viviría
    Estoy cerca de la muerte
    Dije que sería fuerte
    Estoy siendo desgarrado
    Dije que seguiría moviéndome
    llegar al final del viaje
estoy a la deriva en el viento
    Dije que protegería
    Los indefensos y los débiles
pero los ojos se vuelven cenizas
    las flechas encuentran su marca
    en cualquier momento dado
    Los pocos que he salvado
    podría encontrar una tumba temprana
el abismo del honor me llama
    los ecos nunca se desvanecen
cada día estoy más cerca de caer
cada vez es más difícil quedarse
    Dije que protegería
    Incluso aquellos que odio
pero no puedo elegir un lado
    en mi estado roto
    Cantor y soldado
el traidor que no puedo enfrentar
    Estoy congelado en su lugar
el abismo del honor me llama
    los ecos nunca se desvanecen
cada día estoy más cerca de caer
cada vez es más difícil quedarse
    estabas ahí para mí
    en los días más oscuros
pero no corriste y te escondiste
hiciste sentir a los débiles valientes
    necesitabas a tu hermano
    te encontré demasiado tarde
hay palabras que no puedo decir
Sé las palabras que no puedo decir
Hay palabras que no puedo decir
    hay palabras que debes decir
Sé las palabras que no puedo decir
cuales son las palabras que debes decir
    Seguire luchando

Hey, just...thanks. For this. All your music is amazing, but this I think I felt the Spirit in. Which, with the emotion you two sang with and the story you told, makes sense.
I gotta admit, despite dealing with depression myself, I wasn't *super* touched by Kaladin's story in RoW. It took some rereading of the ending before I could even make myself feel much of anything about it on a purely emotional level, to be honest. But music is a different medium, and this...this means things to me.
I'll love your cosmere songs no matter what they are, I think, and I regularly hum or belt out Survive and Bondsmith. This doesn't hit the same way as those - which isn't better or worse, it's just different, and I love it a lot. So thanks to you and the others who have worked on this song for another excellent fan song that I hope to see in eventual movies or shows ;)

If it's all right, I'm gonna plop the lyrics down here - because I am definitely gonna be singing this to myself a lot haha
I said that I would live; I am close to death
I said that I'd be strong; I'm being torn apart
I said that I'd keep moving, reach the journey's end
      I'm drifting on the wind
I said that I'd protect the helpless and the weak
But eyes are turned to ash, arrows find their mark
At any given moment, the few that I have saved could find an early grave
The Honor Chasm calls to me
      Echoes never fade away
Every day I'm closer to falling
It's getting harder and harder to stay
I said that I'd protect even those I hate
But I cannot choose a side in my broken state
      Singer and soldier...the traitor I can't face
      I'm frozen in place
The Honor Chasm calls to me
      Echoes never fade away
Every day I'm closer to falling
      It's getting harder and harder...
You were there for me on the darkest days
But you did not run and hide
You made the weak feel brave
You needed your brother; I found you all too late
There are Words I cannot say
I know the Words that I must say
There are Words I cannot say (there are Words that you must say)
I know the Words that I must say (what are the Words that you must say?)
I'LL KEEP ON FIGHTING, BUT I ACCEPT
that there will be those I cannot protect!
I'll keep on fighting, but I accept
that there will be those I cannot protect
The Honor Chasm called to me
      Echoes slowly fade away
Some days I'll be closer to falling
But I'm finding the reasons -

THEN I read RoW, and I had to spend about 5 minutes crying the first time I read *that* section. I've been listening to this probably about 15 times so far, and I'm amazed at how this song brings all of Kaladin's journey into one short section. Just wanted to share with you guys how much this song has helped me.
Been struggling with depression most of my adult life (29 now) but always was able to hide the dark shroud that threatens me away. However, as you’ve emotionally sang, it’s getting harder and harder to stay. I think of these words often, as i think of Kaladin. the darkness encircling me is ever more present, even when distracted doing something or at work. but I have decided to stop pushing it away, to take back control of my life. I let myself cry for myself today for the first time in many many years while listening to this. And I already feel a little better than I did before.
So I just want you to know how powerful this song is to me and how much it has and will continue to help me. ❤ Thank you again

As someone who relates to Kaladin's struggle with depression, as many of us do, I don't think I've ever found a song that brings me to tears like this. I think we all have our own Honor Chasm that calls to us, but what matters is finding those reasons so stay. Thank you for letting yourself be vulnerable enough to let us share in your own journey through this song, and I hope you have found whatever peace you have striven to find.

Thank you so much for all of your words. Thank you especially for your own openness about your struggle with depression. I am so glad my music met you along your journey in a way that was helpful.
And thank you, we have indeed found peace, even as we often recall the pain of loss. Peace has come in the form of understanding and embracing the bizarre juxtaposition of joy and pain in our lives, and then seeing that we aren’t alone in it. I don’t know that it makes it easier, but it certainly makes it bearable.
Thanks again for taking time to listen and to write!!

I had also just finished rhythm of war a few days before discovering this song and oh boy how hard it was not to sob while reading the dog and the dragon, and then listening to this just made it all come out. Stunning work! Beautiful voice! Enrapturing pacing! I love this so much. Right after, I listened to Bondsmith and the amount of tears that came out of me that day was concerning, but really shows how perfectly you captured the struggle in both Dalinar and Kaladin

Finally finishing up with my junior year of high school and I just want to express how much this song means to me. The backstory relating to this song really hit me hard and made the song that much more meaningful and truly beautiful. The message of moving foward despite the hardships you have to go through is a powerful one and is beautifully expressed in this song. Kaladins journey about being able to accept that there will be those he cannot protect was absolutely incredible to read and this song speaks to me In a way no song has done before. Your song fills me with so much hope for the future and I always find myself coming back to this song whenever I need that motivation and hope that I so previously lacked. I always find myself tearing up beacuse of the lyrics and the amazing vocals by you and your wife. A message to everyone: you will feel warm again and you will be able to push through the hard times and reach that happiness that may seem so far away. Life before death my friends
