    Permanent hair dye isn't completely bad, its more bad for super dark colours, the way it works is, it opens the hair cuticles, removes your natural pigment and deposits the new colour. so is incredibly difficult to get it totally removed and it also causes damage to the hair cuticle. with fashion colours it just stains the top of the cuticle instead of opening it, therefore less damage! I hope that makes sense!

      @kaydenk4111 9 месяцев назад +9

      just to add on, permanent colors always require a developer, which gives the color its lifting power. meanwhile semi perm colors dont need developer and are usually conditioner based, making them a lot more gentle

    • @memesolipsist
      @memesolipsist 9 месяцев назад +5

      Well, permanent dyes can be washed out with colour removers, actually removers work ONLY with dyes which are mixed with developer, and fashion colours often cannot be removed even with the bleach, so sometimes it is easier to get rid of brown box dye than blue fashion colour. Also it depends on the formula, on my own experiense, some permanent dyes made my hair healthier and some fashion colours more dry

    • @bobbiemc7875
      @bobbiemc7875 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@memesolipsist well yes because colour removers open the cuticle, which is more damage usually. Depending on your level of damage your colour formula will work differently, if your cuticle is very damaged semi permanent will stain more and permanent will eventually let the colour pigment "fall out" because the cuticle can't close tightly and keep it in. Again it all just depends on the condition of the hair strand itself, results can always vary with each brand, developer, colour choice etc! 🙂

    Lindy, if you can get a hold of it again, USE colour oops!!!!! Its lit a godsend for getting rid of warm toned dyes, whether they're permanent or semi permanent. There's also a dupe called the Scott Cornwall Decolour Permanent Hair Colour Remover that works just as well and makes my hair stronger too. Please don't bleach your roots just yet, use the colour remover first and then it will lift higher and you wont have to do it again. And bleach isn't typically good at getting rid of red/orange non bleach colour removers do a much better job Hope this helps ❤

    Permanent hair dye comes out pretty well with colour remover. And yes it will fade. Usually not as much as it has for you, but as your hair was blond underneath and more damaged towards the ends, it's more porous, so the dye will come out easier. Tbh, some semi-permanent colours turn out just as permanent because they end up staining the hair really badly. If you want to remove the dye as much as possible, spend time in the sun (but remember your sunscreen lol!)

    From my experience with semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent color (including high lift permanent color): It depends a lot.
    On previously bleached hair, especially very light as yours, most demi-permanent and permanent colors fade pretty quickly. But on virgin hair they definitely permanently change the base of your haircolor. Even demi can do that depending on the developer that's supposed to be mixed with it. There are no lift demi-permanent colors and those that do lift your base slightly.
    When it comes to removing color: demi is actually the easiest to remove. Semi permanent colors can permanently stain the cuticle and that stain can't be removed, just covered with a darker color. I personally don't use semi-permanent colors anymore, they interfer too much with other products if I wanna change back to blonde or even if you color it darker, it can really change the outcome (sometimes for the better, but often times for the worse). I remember a friend of mine who only ever used manic panic blues having permanently stained streaks of hair that had faded out pink and blue and even his stylist could not get rid of the color. He had to grow it out of is super long hair. I personally mainly used demi-permanent colors if I wanted mint green or soft pink and they always came out completely and easily. It also doesn't cause as much banding if you have different levels of porosity in your hair. Also for someone like me who also loves to use fashion color for a shadow root: if you then wanna touch up your roots and there is only the slightest bit of pigment from semi permanent color on your hair, you can REALLY mess up your color. On demi, it just easily bleaches out asap.
    Permanent color though: As said on bleached, blonde hair it fades easily and quite fast, can even often times be taken out with just a bleach bath and a permanent color afterwards, but let's say you had your natural hair color (virgin) all over and would then put burgungy permanent color on top of that. It would fade to a warm, maybe even brassy coppery red. Your base would have been lifted to a lighter level than it naturally is and there would be nothing to tone out the warm pigments, so brass would be the end result of the faded color. My cousin has brown hair naturally, when we color her hair with a high lift, bright red and she doesn't touch it up frequently, her hair will fade to a level 8 copper-gold. Which is actually quite pretty on her, but she hates it. So no, permanent color isn't permanent in that it stays the way it is, but it is permanent because it permanently changes the base of your hair color. Your virgin color isn't underneath the added pigment, it is gone.
    High lift color is mainly made to lift your hair up to 4 levels and deposit color at the same time without using bleach. It often times smells quite intense and can sting your scalp. But if works pretty well. You could actually use it to lift your natural color to a nice honey blonde, light ginger or light caramel (but I doubt you would be able to achieve a cool toned blonde with it). Despite what we get told: sometimes high lift permanent color CAN actually lift permanent color a bit. It depends on the color lines that were being used, but it's not impossible.
    For you rn demi-permanent with the lowest volume developer possible might be a nice choice, especially because you love changing your hair color a lot. But you may wanna do your own research on this before you try it out.

    You’re right. The reason oceans fade hair color is the salt, but the sun you get at the beach doesn’t hurt either.

  • @MonicaCorcoles
    @MonicaCorcoles 9 месяцев назад +2

    The fading it's not only dependent on what type of hair dye you used but also the state of the base hair. A few years ago I went from deep purple hair to platinum blonde, bleaching my hair three or four times (frying it on that process). A couple of months after that and having noodle hair and shaving half of my hair because of the damage, I put on red box hair dye and it would last me deep red about two washes and would have to put more on every few weeks. When your hair is so damaged it wont cling to that colour very well, even if it's permanent.
