- See what the fabled Cajon Pass looked - and sounded like - in the early 1990s when three different railroads still crossed the pass. Filmed by Ken Rattenne. If you like '90s railroading, you'll enjoy this brief look at Cajon Pass in 1992 and 1993.
ATSF, SP, and UP at their finest in the early 90's. GREAT action rockbasso, thanks for sharing!
Great video, miss the day of rail fanning the Santa fe, in southern Cali. Thanks for sharing.
It is so hot outside and nice to go to You tube and watch some good ole trains. Thanks for sharing.
I've watched this video many times and never noticed the quite rare gp40x atsf at 15:19. I may have been distracted, very neat
a thoroughly professionally shot piece of vision Beautiful era material on the the Pass... ive watch this 3 times and enjoyed it ...
Thank you so much
That UP geep leading the SP freight is quite darkly foreshadowing the future...
I'm confused ... there is no UP Geep leading an SP train in this video. There is a UP SD40-2 leading a UP train with SP power if that's what you're referring to. And yes, that was fortelling ... :-)
I could of sworn that was a Geep when i first watched! All the same, though...
Super video. Thanks for posting.
Cornelu A VERY GOOD VIDEO.
Santa Fe!!!! beautiful,,,! need Chico in the mix! outstanding!
Aside from a few misspelled words, good video.
I made this film quite awhile ago and probably should clean it up a bit and re-render. Thanks for the feedback
We want more, we want more!!
Remember the old time billboards on freight cars in the glory days of railroads? The railroads were not there to please Wall Street; they were there to please the public. Southern Pacific touted its boxcar fleet as HydraCushion For Fragile Freight while Santa Fe proudly had Super Shock Control on its boxcar fleet. Real Cold was the slogan for Santa Fe's reefer cars while both SP and UP had Pacific Fruit Express.
Cool, Just cool, thanks...
nice video!
9:15 didnt know Santa fe still had some of the old paint schemes
Santa Fe had those Solid Cold reefers and FP-45's, Red and silver warbonnets and lots of mixed freights. The heralds on those SF boxcars you could see for miles. Lots of action. Today the freights are all alike. Intermodal can be boring.
Nothing says vintage Santa Fe than "Super Shock Control".
The good old days
Sad seeing all those U-boats on the dead-line.
Santa Fe Yellowbonnet not an attractive paint scheme. The "Dress Blues" from the 50's/60's was much more eye catching.
Wish it had train symbols
It appears even railfans are distracted by women ;)
Those aren't railfans those are fan tails.
Turn off that bloody annoying music
You can always turn the sound down
Ken Rattenne when there is 20-645's to be heard? No way haha.
