Thanks for doing an objective test, rather than the other youtubers who seem to now be just bashing new drivers without any factual evidence just to get views.
krusher74 they are treating their reviews like some sort of exposé and it drives me nuts. Clickbait titles and gotcha journalism. These guys just spit facts and numbers. Love txg
Honestly don't know how you guys don't have 500k subs. I watch a lot of RUclips, and this channel is right up there with the most informative channels I've watched, golf or not. Keep it guys, I reckon you will grow massively this year!
So glad I found this channel, by far the most informative for this kind of stuff. You guys are experts in this field and really show up the driving range pros for what they really are. White matt SZ is in the bag this season :-)
Great video; I think Cobra has a really great streak going on regardless. Thanks for answering my question the other day re descending driver, high spin, low launch.
It seems like now a days there's so little in it while you're in the bay and that you really need to play a bunch of rounds to see the real differences.
Another great comparison gentlemen, I'd really like to see what happens when a 10-18 handicap hits the new one though, Matt has so much control. Also, Matt, you need to use your divot tool on that poor green around the flag....your dart marks are killing me!!!
Fantastic content as always boys! The in depth testing and information is second to none. It’s hard to find people in any industry that aren’t afraid to tell people to maybe save a couple bucks and not buy latest and greatest. Put out the information and let the consumer make the decision. Awesome job Ian and Matt
Love that the Cobra's have those two weights that can be changed. Wish all drivers were that easy to change the head-weight. I would imagine putting up a couple sound absorbing panels on those divider walls would go a long way to improving the sound.
May I suggest a new trend of comparisons? Mishits. Can you compare which drivers mishits go further? Dispersion, spin, club head speed, all of it. Seems maybe it might have more value at this point.
Tried the 9 deg head a few weeks ago, and couldn't get the spin above 1600, did you guys find similar results? Glad to see the 10.5 head isn't draw biased anymore, makes it an option to get that spin rate dialed in without the hook!
could you guys do some videos on the top brands new drivers/irons/woods/ from the new releases comparable to a model similar 5 and or 10 years ago so show how much their technology has improved
Been waiting for this great job guys got the f9 and love it i have never played a better driver but got fitted for the sz last week and found no difference in distance but what i did find was off centre strikes with sz go further with less drop offs. Tried to hold off buying sz but failed badly 🙈 as i also like the look from above of the sz so i was sold on the sz. I never thought the f9 would be removed from my bag but at least I'm sticking loyal to Cobra 😁
Came across a company called SwitchGrips that sells counterweighted grips with 4 interchangeable options (2g, 8g, 14g, and 20g). Not sure if you’ve ever done a video on the effects of counterweighting clubs (driver, mid iron, wedge) but I would love to see one.
Great video. Love the channel. More fittings for high handicappers as well. I'm curious to find out how much a complete bag fitting (driver, irons, woods, wedge, putter, and even a ball fitting) would improve scores for a golfer with a high handicap.
I like the direction these companies are going in with better stability and dispersion, that's way more important that another 5-7 yards. Thumbs up, boys.
Are you going to have any customer/featured fitting videos coming up? I really enjoy those and to be honest those are what’s hooked me on the channel. I really enjoy how Ian breaks down and pieces back together a club and selection and insights during fittings.
Not sure if you all will see this but I have the F9 driver and have just been wondering what do the different weights do. Saw you used a 6g instead of the 2g and was just wondering what difference that ends up making
Great review.....you seem to be getting better results with the speed zone over the F 9 then other testers did...Could be the shaft and weights???? Thanks...The F 9 is still out there and at a reduction in price if that makes a difference....
Excellent test ! How about the other head Extreme ? Really interested in the increased stability this could bring but questionning about the possible increase in spin and loss of distance. Matt is a very high sped player. Would the result be much different with a ‘’more standard ball speed’’ like 150-160 ?
What is the significance of adding the 6G weight to the back port? I have the new Speedzone (Ventus Black 7x) with the 14g weight in the front but only a 2g weight in the rear port. My SS is 117 mph on average. Would changing out the 2g weight give me more stability?
So, I do understand the past years comps and I also love watching them...but, with that being said, and I know this is probably tougher to do, would it be more relevant to test 2 product cycles back? Most people aren’t updating every single season, but after 2yrs people get itchy to change. Is this possible? For reference, I already own Flash SZ so this isn’t relevant to me but I’m sure it would be next year when 2021 products come out. Thanks guys! Love the content!
I have found the sound of the speedzone to be great outside. inside not so much. only club ive ever hit that seems to be dramatically different. to me that means it feels great sounds just ok. sound and feel are connected. outside the sound does not bounce back at you like inside. honestly the f9 outside almost felt dead too muted.
I would be curious what would happen if you dropped the f9 to -1.0 to -1.5 to be more fade biased and drop the launch angel down a bit with less loft??
I had a hard time with the F9 and it never made it into the bag because I just couldn’t get it dialed in. I just hit the speed zone at my local shop and I found it much easier to dial in for my swing.
Great Video guys keep it up, silly question....Do you sell the different colour screws that attach the head to the shaft as I noticed Matt's F9 Driver has a purple screw in it.
I have the F9 in part because I saw results from your channel and added it to the list of drivers I tried in the fitting process. I love my F9. Not sure why you didn't try them both using the 9 degree loft versions. Maybe I missed that in the video.

Helps bring the swingweight up a bit, we were using a counterbalanced shaft so we needed to offset with a bit of head weight. More head weight can help with ball speed/MOI. Also heavier weight forward reduces spin.
@@clubchampionmedia Ok thanks. I've ordered the SZ with Hzrdus Yellow Smoke 60 6.0, which is counterbalanced, so may try this. Will have to find somewhere in UK that sells the extra weights. I will need heavy forward to reduce my spin
This is the best technology will ever get with all the standards in place and with the large R&A/USGA report that came out about distance so future clubs may have more limits put on them. Can you guys do a video on that report and your thoughts on if the governing bodies should do anything?
I’ve had same experience with counterbalanced shafts. I was always in 60s and then went to Fuji pro 2.0 tour spec last year and hit the 7x the best and the 8x in fairway. I suppose you don’t feel the extra weight as much since it’s in your hands??
I'm curious if you set up each driver, not necessarily in just this video, so that they are identical to each other or do you set them up so each driver is perfect for Matt? I'd like to see them set up perfectly for Matt so that he is able to get his max out of each of them. This channel is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else out there, great job guys!
Matty the end of your swing looks quite different, almost heading towards a Palmeresque twirl at the end, are you trying to be more rotational than arm led post impact??
Really envy that swing. I wonder how he got started that way. Growing up watching John Daly I always associated a longer back swing to more power, yet that doesn't seem to be the case with ole Matty boy.
I sat on the F9 last year because my prior driver was a bit easier on me when I didn't strike it well. Saw some improvement to that (and better than my prior driver) with the SZ, so I jumped-in for this season. Good info, guys.
TheOgieone I’m in the same boat. I bought a Fujikura Ventus blue shaft last year, but the standard HZRDUS smoke shaft in my F9 has been awesome. I may just buy the Speedzone Extreme, and put my Ventus shaft in that, so I’ll have 2 great drivers!
I’m all inconsistent at best with my strike and if there is a more than not strike, it’s a high toe. In the last 5 years what would you say the most stable driver would be for a 85 mph amateur swing that is not the longest but straightest? (But not crazy short either) cobra? Ping g max? Cleveland launcher?
Titleist drivers and irons are about the weakest as far as distance goes. I get about 30 yards more out of cobra drivers than any of the new Titleist ones. AP2 and AP3 irons are heavy and don’t hit worth a damn. Love my cobra forged Tec irons ! Getting rid of my Titleist 917D driver
Not sure if I missed it in the couple of SZ videos, but is Matt gaming this over the Ping now? He's hitting it so well, but he plays everything well haha. Great vid!
The difference in Ballspeed is probably due to the fact that Matt couldn‘t really go after the F9, because the F9 is too draw biased for him. Would probably be a lot different if he would be more the slicer kinda guy.
If I understand your data, it seems that distance is mainly the result of a lower launch angle. This means that the results would be probably opposite for an average golfer with a 130mph ball speed. Am I mistaken ?
cwugrad396 they are working just fine. Companies such as Cobra, Titleist, Callaway and TM really do not change appearances from model to model. Set up and visuals from address remain constant from model to model. Drivers performance was maxed several years ago. Now it’s just a new paint job and marketing pitch. I’ve NEVER heard “did not like the Callaway Epic but, man that new Mavrik has sold me” ... that would really be a person who really knows nothing about golf making such a statement ✌️
Shawn Allen the F9 and the SZ are not identical twins ... like I said get your eyes tested if you still think they are the same driver. The only people that complain about how other people spend their money are people that have no money of their own.
cwugrad396 not complaining at all. Just laughing at stupid comments. What’s different there buddy!?! Carbon crown? Same yellow and white colours? Same exact weighting system? Milled face? Same ball speed? Same launch angle? Same spin rates? Btw- people who typically purchase Cobra products are very price conscious...I’ve actually never played with someone who actually uses a Cobra driver...then again I play at a private club. Perhaps I need to get out to some muni courses to see them in action... Have a great 2020 with your new driver that really suits your eye versus last years...👏
Refreshing to not watch the typical: “Don’t Buy this Driver because XYZ company is lying to you” but you should like follow and subscribe because I am honest, I swear. It’s likely why you guys get invited to hq’s and have industry leaders come and visit.
@@ArmedAccountant it all depends on swing speed and swing angle ie 95mph and downward swing with 11.5 degree loft tried 9.5 , 10, 10.5 - works for me straight and 265 - 70 yds (UK) @ 49 years old with old sports injuries (football, basketball, rugby league / union, cricket, tennis, badminton, etc)😀😀😀
@@craigedga4r yeah I just decided to test moving the weights to have the 2g in the front to see if that helps me. cwugrad396 they are working just fine.
Have a great 2020 with your new driver that really suits your eye versus last years...👏
wasn't there just a video where Matty was hittin 360 + with an F9? confused...
F9 for $249 vs. SV for $449... not even a question.
Ian & Matty, have you replaced the screen yet?
M. Marin no haven’t replaced it in 3 years, however new screens arrive next week.
Ian Fraser I’ve been waiting for Matty’s ball to go through it 😂
Matt must have been happy. No expletives today.
Can you test against a LTD Pro lol... personal request lol
Refreshing to not watch the typical: “Don’t Buy this Driver because XYZ company is lying to you” but you should like follow and subscribe because I am honest, I swear.
It’s likely why you guys get invited to hq’s and have industry leaders come and visit.
You forgot to mention high handicap player's miss hits won't cut the ball like the F 9 did!
I will stick with my F9 with 18g at the back and 14g at the front 💪💪💪👍👍👍
What exactly do the different weights do for you? I have tried looking it up and just can't seem to find an answer on it
@@ArmedAccountant back weight CoG and MoI, front weight less spin 😀😀😀
@@ArmedAccountant it all depends on swing speed and swing angle ie 95mph and downward swing with 11.5 degree loft tried 9.5 , 10, 10.5 - works for me straight and 265 - 70 yds (UK) @ 49 years old with old sports injuries (football, basketball, rugby league / union, cricket, tennis, badminton, etc)😀😀😀
@@craigedga4r yeah I just decided to test moving the weights to have the 2g in the front to see if that helps me. I tend to power fade/slice the ball and am hoping that offers some forgiveness and maybe helps me hit it a little straighter. I have a high swing speed and am just looking to try and straighten my drives out. Biggest downfall golfing for me is finding the fairway with my driver
@@ArmedAccountant mine was the same but at a lower swing speed but with downward force with upper body strength - weights as quoted and a slightly wider more atheltic but 3/4 turn ie injuries and age !!!😀😀😀
Geez, you guys didn't do an apples to apples comparison. One was white and the other was yellow. I expected better. /s Also, not enough "color" commentary in this one. The ping one had more. /s
😆😆😆
lol, I will let you into a secret, Matt is colour blind. Ian, on the other hand, has an aversion to the colour Green (mostly when it's on football shirts). But don't tell anyone I told you 🙄
I find it offensive that Matt would find both of these numbers acceptable.... 307 carry is so so🤮
UGGA and R&A Release Distance Insights Report, The World Handicap System (WHS) came into effect January 2020, will Matty ever make a decision on whats going to go into the bag, for this and other news on how this effects club fitting and building stay tuned to the TXG Channel. I have to ponder today if I'm a stakeholder ... because if you watch a number of social media poll results there appears to be a communication problem, anyway guess I better get back to work apparently the zombies are out vampires are back and stakeholders are to be prepared. Well I'm off to tweet Madonna with the only thing I can think of to say "Sorry Eh". P.S. I owe four loonies #txgswearjar
Whisker, have you been taking the purple tablets again? You know that the Doctor told you that you can only take them whilst wearing your TXG Bucket hat and simultaneously stroking a Unicorn (or was it a eunuch). Damn it, pass me the purple ones!!!!!!
Bandit Baker Purple ... no I thought you recommended the blue ones for distance. My bad, now I have to tweet the UGGA & R&A hell I will just combine them with the Madonna tweet. Maybe if she Subcribed to TXG and Larry she’d feel differently. 😂👍
@@whiskerrub3821 Who's Madonna, does she play on the LPGA tour? 😉😜
Was this hotter off the top of the face?
Nothing to see here kids, just more long sticks getting pounded 330+.
I feel like Matty needs a new challenge. From now ill only be impressed with consistent 180+ ball speed
