  • This is a test of Ronin S with Sony FS5 camera.
    INFO:
    - Lenses used: Sony FE 28mm f2, Sony APSC 10-18 f4, Sammyang 35mm FE f1.4, Helios 422 58mm f2,
    - I focused not on slomotion footages only and rather 25p to check how the setup works
    - it was my first day with this setup so I still was learning (was using Zhiyun Crane for 3 years with Sony A7SII)
    - more footages soon
    Conclusion:
    - FS5 + RoninS is a very heavy combo
    - lenses 10-18 and 28 seem to be the best for this setup (the less wide lense the more bumpy it is)
    Enjoy!

Here is one more test I made 1 week after the first one (I balanced gimbal correctly and proceed with the balance and motor test on Ronin S which in my opinion improved things a lot). Here is the link on Vimeo: vimeo.com/281509561/b1def6205c

It looks like there were some decent jitters at certain points- were the motors struggling with the FS5?
I love the idea of the Ronin S but with my primary shooter being a FS5 realistically I'm thinking its not the right solution but would love to be wrong.

Hey, after this test I put my FS5 on Ronin maybe 3-4 times. I also think it is not a good combo. (exertion is using fs5 with lenses such as 28mm f2 or 10-18 f4 which are very light and fast to balance on Ronin) Otherwise it is a long setup, not very comfortable and not light setup as well for your arm. In realtime situation more often I use my A7s with heavier lenses on my Ronin S.

Thinking about buying a ronin as well, currently running an FS5ii with a 10-18 mostly. Do you notice you need the bigger battery for the weight it will the smaller one work okay?

Wow! I see that you can do rotation shots with the FS5 on Ronin S (03:32) ! Could you confirm this please, or you did it in post production?

Can you make a video on how you managed to balanced it, I've tried with my fs5 but I failed miserably.

Do you think an FS7 could work on the Ronin S?
