Pete, that is heartbreaking news. We are very sorry the valve spring broke and stopped your MD. But we know you are a great mechanic and will be able to repair/replace parts and have it running again.
Oh Pete, I'm so sorry to see that happen to the tractor you just got done restoring. That's just so tragic. You'll figure it out and get her moving again, I'm sure of it.
We were just up in Ithaca this morning for a swim meet at the college. I wanted to stop by the market to ask about your tractor. I agreed with my wife she said “ don’t bother him because she said I know how I am with something breaks on me” So good luck with your engine. I have learned more about rebuilding from you than anything I have ever worked on.
Boy Pete, that made the pit of my stomach drop hearing that news. Take care and keep moving forward. Maybe that project can wait till winter. Have a great day!
Pete, been watching all your videos. I farmed in the Norfolk Nebraska area for many years. I don’t anymore but miss it and watching you makes me miss it more and more everyday. Love the videos love what you do. Keep up the great work!!!
Pete, Hang in there, I suppose on the positive side you will be bringing us more great content as you dive in and look into the cause deeper and the following repairs. Thanks for fixing and restoring the most interesting tractor in the world and my favorite:)
Sorry to hear about the MD. You did such a beautiful job on the restoration and to have it run so well, this must be extremely frustrating. At least you have the skill set to assess and make the repairs. I always worry every time I run my MD that something like this will happen. Parts are getting harder to find and more expensive. It really is a labor of love to keep these old tractors running.
Pete, That is so frustrating. Praying the damage is minimal. Thanks for always showing the good and the bad. You're teaching folks that a bad day is survivable.
I cant say enough about your attitude. And, it is clear to me that you are very genuine, honest guy and it would be an absolute pleasure and blessing knowing you as a friend or neighbor.
Pete, I really enjoy your channel. You were so happy and proud when you originally finished the MD. I am so sorry for what happened to it now. I know you will eventually get it running again. Peace be with you.
What a tough break. It was nice seeing it up and running for a bit. I am curious about the damage, but I can be patient... to a point. Good thing you collect old tractors.
Oh no! So sorry, Pete. What a heart break. I bet after a grieving period, you'll be able to tear into it, and find that it's not as bad as you think! Anyway, the red stallion is still beautiful!
Oh Pete...life on a farm covers so many things from good to bad...hopefully the damage is minor even though even minor is going to be time consuming to fix. Thanks for the great videos and I have learned so much from you.
I really feel for Pete I know how much love and work you put into that old boy. I just watched a video of a Mopar engine guy in Canada (Nicks garage) who ran into the same issue with a Dodge 440. That spring just cost you many hours and dollars. Keep on smiling.
Sorry to hear about the MD, Thanks for sharing both the up's and down's. Hopefully it won't be a big mess in there when you open it up. make sure you show us what you find and we can all learn from it. Thanks Jim
Pete I am so sorry. MY heart sank in reference to the MD. Even though I did not have anything to do with the restoration I was there through all the videos and feel very invested in it in some way. It kills me that it died.
I'm sorry the beauty broke down. I'm sure you will fix it. On some good news, I can finally stand up for short periods of time after training for 4 weeks. Next step is walking without crutches. Thank you for always bringing me good content and making me look forward to what's next. Got to be baby video next. I love the baby videos!
I'm sorry to hear about your tractor Pete. I know that has to be very frustrating. Like you said, keep your head up and keep pressing foward! Another good video as always.

One fact about farming, whether with old equipment or new, you never know when something might go down. It's frustrating, I know very well, but the sun will come up tomorrow and the Son always is shining in your life. As I use to hear a lot from an older farmer when I was a kid, "Well, tomorrow's another day". God bless you and your family❤
When I heard the bad news all I could think about was the old Hee-Haw song "Gloom, despair, and agony on me." Hopefully it will be back rolling through the fields by next spring. Thanks for sharing Pete.
Darn, what bad luck on the MD. Glad you have other workhorses in your stable to get the work done. I am sorry that happened, but that's life, I suppose. Chin up, indeed! As always, thank you for the video, your smile, and your tenacity. Be safe, be well.
I’ve watched your video on the MD rebuild and know how much effort it took to rebuild it and to have that kind of catastrophic break down is really heart breaking! Had something very similar happen with me on my rebuild, so I know what it feels like. Hopefully there isn’t a lot of damage done to the head @ cylinder .
I believe if my memory is correct Pete, you totally restored that tractor. I cost a lot. probably half or more paid for by you. and the remaining funding by us, your viewers. took a long time to do. but you gave us so many videos for a looooong time to document your progress. we loved it and you and the knowledge and the bonus of an extra big helping of wisdom each video. thanks. yeah, life happens I'm sure myself, many others and you would like to see it fixed in 3 - 4 months. Ok, not gonna happen. I look forward to watching you years from now getting back to making the MD factory new again. Thanks Pete
Pete , A fresh rebuild is a wonderful project to see accomplished . Sad to hear of the mechanical failure . As a past diesel / automotive machinist , it is so nice to see the extent of your restoration work , truly beautiful. I hope your repairs are easily accomplished , great video as always .
I’m so sorry about your tractor. Even though it’s a part of farming that doesn’t make it any less heartbreaking. I’m just glad you’re capable of fixing. Good luck
Heartbreaking after all your loving restoration of the MD. I feel for you Pete. You have an amazing attitude to the curve balls life can throw us. Cheers from Sydney Australia.
Very sad to hear about the MD. It makes me want to cry, but I know it's in good hands. On a side note, I am happy the 756 is running good. Little work here and there and she will be good for a long time.
Such a deal! Glad you have backup tractors. Life on the farm I guess. I broke my face shield and have to get another one before I can do some more turning. Working on three small bowls for a friend just now. Looking forward to meeting the new piglets! Thanks Pete.
I am devastated for you after all your hard work. Thanks for your honesty in making this video and I look forward to watching you sorting it all out in the months to come
So sorry to see the MD hurt😭😭😭 and of course with Murphy roaming, always at the time you need it to use. 🙏 with you only minor internal damage. Knowing your dad's knowledge, I'm sure he shut it down immediately if it didn't stop from dropping the valve. Thank you for sharing, this is real life on a farm. Thanks for taking us all along with you, in both ups and downs👍👍👍
Oh Pete ....what a disappointment...we're so sorry ...you will rally again and fix her up ! And we'll all have something to experiencecwith you again...and you will give us all the thorough picture of the repair...hang in there ! You are such a great teacher ! Thanks for always sharing your life on the farm ...God bless and keep on farming!
Heart breaking yes, but you know what to do to fix it Pete, and it runs so well it will be a good story to tell when you get it fixed ! If anyone can get it running again it’s defiantly you sir ! Thanks for the updates.
😭😭😭😭😭😭 I am so so sorry. This only happens to the best of us. Glad you are still holding your chin up. Glad you have backup tractors to jump in the work.
Pete, you are a true talent on RUclips. The MD rebuild was enjoyable to watch and very educational. Equipment failure is discouraging, hang in there and pace yourself. Keep up the good work!
So sorry this happened to you and your Dad. You’ve worked so hard on these machines that my heart goes out to you. It’s a Bummer, Dude. Take care. ♥️🙏🏼♥️
So sorry Pete. I know how discouraging it must feel to have a spring break and undo all your hard work and potentially cause more damage. I hope the damage is slight and that you find the time this year to get the tractor up and running. It sure looks great after all your loving care and attention. Keep the faith; your passion for small farms is inspiring
So sorry, Pete. Loved to see that beauty running after all of your careful work. One of our supposedly conciliatory responses in the USAF following a calamity is "nobody said it would be easy!". And...it certainly isn't easy. Hang in there, trooper.
Sorry to see this happen, Pete. You put a lot of care into this rebuild and having this happen seems unfair. That’s life sometimes though; just gotta keep trudging forward. For what it’s worth, watched the rebuild of this tractor from start to finish, and enjoyed every bit of it. It has inspired me as well: I am in the middle of a 1951 Cockshutt 30 restoration (as well as swapping its engine to a modern turbodiesel) and I’ve learned so much from your videos-they’ve been a great help!
Pete, keep your head up. You did a great job restoring the MD. Life is full of small tests and this is one of them. You will overcome it and be better for it. It’s these experiences that can’t be taught in school or in book and have to be learned by doing. Keep on keeping on my friend!
You got it Pete, it's just a set back on one tractor, the farming still goes on. You built an incredibly strong foundation for your family and farm, this rainy day that slowed down one tractor still has You sitting high and dry. Your videos have taught us this, be methodical and intention to build a strong foundation, so when rainy days come you stay comfortable and dry.

Pete sorry to hear of the break down of the Farmall. That sucks big time. They say the first 100 hours after an overhaul is when things usually break. Now that you've had the break, the rest should be all downhill!!! 😁 Good luck I hope there is no other serious damage.
Awesome video! Sorry about your Farmall MD breaking. praying that you can fix it easily. you know it is spring time on a your farm when you have little ones being born. i love watching your videos. GOD' Bless your whole Family. Amen. :) :)
Oh, that's a bummer Pete, I can just imagine the disappointment. We've got our fingers crossed for minimal damage. I'm going to get myself a JAFAF mug to contribute to the MD re-restoration budget! :)
Sorry about the MD. I have been following your restoration from the beginning and it is really sad that this happened. I hope that your parts are not too badly damaged. God Bless!

Sorry to see the broken MD. At least you have back up tractors.
That's half the fun, diagnosing the issues. You remind me of an old friend of my dad's, he had a tractor for every day of the week.
The struggle bus makes a stop at every farm I've ever been a part of. I hope your ride on this particular one is a short one. Happy haying.
Pete, you are a true talent on RUclips. The MD rebuild was enjoyable to watch and very educational. Equipment failure is discouraging, hang in there and pace yourself. Keep up the good work!

Hello Pete 😀 I'm so happy you cut that jungle back next to the shop door 😂 as for the rest of the 🍋s. I know your gonna make lemonade.
That's a tough situation to be in. Great video content again - especially super T-shirt! I live about 50 miles from the campus. Go bunnies!
I'm sorry about the tractor, you sure did put a lot of work into it. But I sure admire your attitude, as always. God bless.
When dealing with hay time, any and all things can happen. Fortunately, you have enough equipment to make quick adjustments. Great video!
Thanks Pete for sharing farm life the up’s and downs. 😩
That is defiantly a bummer. That is lots of hours and money spent on getting it going. But we know you will get it back in top shape again.
Oh wow…. That’s such a bummer…. But if anyone can fix it, you can do it Pete!
Thanks for the update, sorry to hear.
Stuff happens but I truely feel for you Pete and your gonna have to look at it everyday :-/ God bless and good luck
