    Dang I love these videos! I have a 'few' (cough, cough) boxes of Hornady 147ELDM (and other caliber and weights) bullets in my reloading room for my 6.5C Bergara that shoot 1/2 MOA over H4350 with a Federal match primer. I'm old (only in age...not in spirit). My almost 68 year old eyes are not the hawk eyes (20-10) of my youth but I can still get the job done. Those pesky clay pigeons at 500 meters lazed don't stand a chance. 😀 Thanks for bringing us along Ray! Much appreciated!

    The mototech engineering scarberator or 3 position gas block is a superior option than messing with jets in my opinion. Gives you on the fly adjustment ability and is easy to use and install. Would highly recommend.

    Glad I stumbled upon this video, it enhanced my knowledge and interest in long range sniper style shooting. My rifle is configured very much the same as the one in the video, but my rig is in .308 and only half the $5,000 cost; but I love it and I’m getting great results with my “entry level” setup! I’m also set up in .22 lr for sniper style shooting out to 100 yards. Thanks for inspiring me to engage in this new phase of rifle shooting!

    The one issue with the SCAR 20 is the pricing scheme between the reciprocating charging handle, and the newer NRCH. For buyers who dropped 4K on the rifle just a few years ago, only to see the 6.5CM come out, then learn that barrels are 1700 bucks, the newer bolt is *350 bucks each*, the firing pin is 60 bucks, and the NRCH kit is almost 1k. After doing the math, you're hard pressed just to buy an entirely new SCAR.
    If you're suppressing that baby, she would benefit greatly from the Scarburator from Mototech Engineering. Eddie is a stand up guy and a true innovator. I can't recommend that product highly enough. (I haven't seen the entire video all the way through. So, if you mention it, my apologies!) But, yeah, since FN is so heavily focused on govt contracts with the SCAR, a fully adjustable gas block is an afterthought. Apparently, taking inspiration from the FAL would've been too 20th century for them. Lol

    If you intend to keep the rifle suppressed, I strongly advise you to install a smaller gas jet. I can't say whether it improves your groupings, but it does greatly minimize gas to the face. I got mine from Parker Mountain Machine. Still functions flawlessly on both settings suppressed or unsuppressed as well.

    • @darith27
      @darith27 Год назад +5

      Yes especially if using a baffled suppressor instead of a flow-through suppressor. With a flow-through suppressor, there should be no need to change the gas jet. I was suprised the details of the suppressor make and model was skipped in this video.

    • @user-vv9lr2rw5d
      @user-vv9lr2rw5d Год назад +1

      It’s best to do that with the tuned smaller factory gas jet or one of the new adjustable systems like KNS makes. It makes the rifle a dream to shoot suppressed and really saves on parts wear. SCARs are incredibly durable but can be sensitive to bolt speed. It’s an easy part to switch and in a factory part as well, just takes a little time to make sure you get the right size.

I had to work hard to get the 1/2 inch groups. Added an aftermarket gas regulator, and pow, soft recoil and easy all holes touching @100m. Plan on an after market gas regulator.

    I had the exact setup before they went to the nrch, same scope, same rifle. 1 moa is about the best I could consistently achieve, Larry Vickers had the same result, about 1 moa. I bought the Knights Armament SR25 APC and went to .65 moa consistently. However, the price doubled with the KAC SR25. The Scar 20 was a great rifle though, but in fear of damage to thermals and NV, I decided to sell it.

    • @OFFICIALUND
      @OFFICIALUND Год назад +3

      You bought the first (SR25) and second (Scar H) most overrated rifles in all of history. If you have an SR-15, you’ll have the trifecta. Both the GAP and LaRues will outshoot the SR-25 day in and day out. When they first made the SR-25 (and for some time after) they were using Remington’s REJECT barrels. I have an SR-15 and have time behind the others (have 3 large-frame larues, but mostly dislike mark) so I’m pretty objective.

      @@OFFICIALUND I’m hitting sub moa groups easily, most of the time .75 moa with the SR25. Pretty good for a reject as you call it. However, there’s some pretty highly trained and respected experts that would laugh at what you said. Most of the rifles and equipment I hear people running down are the most respected and most expensive, like Knights Armament, FN Scar, HK, LMT, Nightforce, Schmidt and Bender, etc. I’m glad I don’t have to be the guy in the room who’s running these companies products down!

    • @OFFICIALUND
      @OFFICIALUND Год назад +2

      @@stevedavis1850 1) Fanboys are not experts. 2) I didn’t say they weren’t ok rifles…I said they were overrated. 3) .75MOA? 5 shots? (3 shot groups do t count). Here’s your exercise: grab 25 rounds. Shoot 5x 5 shot groups. Come back and tell us what the average is. I’m guessing it’ll be about 1.25. Contrast with GAP and Larue, which would do about .6-.8 over that regimen. Read Bryan Litz’s articles on dispersions, group size, etc. very few “sub MOA” rifles are actually sub MOA. FWIW, I have had to send back one (out of literally more than one hundred) rifle due to complete inoperability, and it was a KAC. They blamed it on a bad BCG which they then admitted was made by a subcontractor. We know they don’t make their barrels. So, you have the very heart of a rifle not being made by the company that sells it. Do they make cool looking handguards and receivers? Yeah, but they’re not even making the “working” parts of their rifles.

    • @OFFICIALUND
      @OFFICIALUND Год назад

      @@stevedavis1850 P.s. I have 4 Schmidt & Bender PMII 5-25. I really like them. They lack a locking ocular ring like Nightforce has (have 3 NFs, too), but to me (this can be subjective) their glass is better than NF. Tangent Theta is king of the rifle scope world, though, and sadly I don’t have any of those. As for LMT…LMT makes a lot of KAC’s stuff. I have had three QC issues with LMTs. They didn’t finish chambering a 300BLK barrel, so if you ever had to clear a chamber, you had to mortar the rifle because the bullets were stuck in the lands (and the cleared round would be partially pulled from the case). Then I had a bad bolt catch: there was this weird textured “nipple” left on it that would prevent you from being able to release the bolt. 3) I had a receiver set that was so poorly finished that it wouldn’t close. So I’m not real positive on LMT, but I once had a piston AR of theirs that was awesome. Sold it to justify buying the aforementioned KAC.

    I have both barrels in 762 NATO and 6.5 CM and swapping barrels is straight forward. I have swapped barrels to see just how off my vortex razor 6-36 scope would be about 10x shooting 3 round each time and for my 20s, the 7.62 barrel was 2.7 mils high at 100 yards on average above center. I usually use the 762 barrel since 6.5 is just way too easy and more forgiving at 700-1000 yards. It possibly might promote bad habits because there’s a margin of error that .308 doesn’t have at that distance as you know. But I need to be on point with .308 at that distance. I haven’t take it out to 1100+ yards. My local range doesn’t go out that far. It’s nice but expensive.

    This is my first time viewing your video on the MK 20.
    If I'm correct, this is a gas operated system, if so, none of us shooters have ever been fans of these systems without a pston. Technology has improved to incorporate the Piston, which eliminates gas blowback. A $5000. dollar rifle and no piston...that my friend is a Dealbreaker in ourcircle, and for good reason(s). Still, a fun video to watch, which proves my point. 😊

    I have a Ruger American hunter 6.5 creedmoor , of course I opened for the long bull barrel . I top it off with a vortex 5-25x56 1/4 moa diamond back tactical . My hope is that I could possibly get my scope matched to the rifle like you did in this video .

    The gun seemed amazingly quiet from the video, even without the suppressor. I was incredibly impressed with how quickly it could be used at different range once set up, and how accurate it was. I have spent twice as much on a camera body, and two and a half times as much on professional video camera, so it's a matter of perspective I guess.

    Which G&G? Gould &Goldrich? The holster maker?
    Warranty voided in one trigger pull.
    Its not a suppressed setting, read the manual. If you fire with a suppressor, you void the warranty. I have asked FN LEO, FN Retail and their warranty department just to verify. They say that the gas block is not set up for suppressed use. It is set for the same as the military regular use setting in its lower setting, the other is larger than the military setting. This is because they didnt want to deal with stoppages.
    I originally rejetted my scar 20, i then went to the scarburator. I use a Silencerco Saker and a surefire socom. Im currently waiting for my hux worx 7.62 can to clear.
    Does the kestrel bluetooth burn batteries that bad? I never had it on my military kestrel. I have one i bought through the unit that is rf disabled. It also has the ir suppressed screen.

    My next Scar. I put in a 6.5 CM DSB 5R 20” barrel on my 17 before the 20s was made mainly to use as a dmr. It’s fitted with a Schmidt Bender 3-20 x 50 PMII Ultra short in a 34mm Spuhr qd mount with a 6 mil cant. The 20s will be the NRCH in 6.5 CM and will have the Schmidt Bender PMII 6-36 x 56 scope in Ral8000 on another 34mm Spuhr 6 mil cant qd mount.

    #Question Hmm .. I doubt I'm the only one that can HEAR that bullet flying through the air and hitting!? Maybe the sound stage he has going in this video with the microphone but I cant usually hear the bullet flying through the air. @MK20 pretty good mid-tier gun. I'd give it a solid C+!!😉
