    Instead of optimizing my guns for small shells fired quickly or big shells fired rarely, I simply spend 75% of my materials budget on firepower and die before I can use any of it.

    I think a great name for it would be "Rain Storm" since it spits out such an unholy amount of shells
    Shrapnel maybe? Again, it spits out metal like mad and it does use frag stuff.

    Hmm - since there's empty spacein the middle.. How about jet engines? - use the empty space for clearance and armor them from sides. Could work agains the nose up and balance the propulsion.. Or are those horribly inefficient compared to custom props?
    A laser system or two in the middle might be cool.. Maybe two systems both feeding to three masts o there'd be redundancy and also while hawing them mainly for damaging but also double as lams set to really short range just in case something get's through the APS CWIZ..
    Cram mortars on the sides - because they'd look cool and could help to finish ships that go slow or are mobility killed bit faster.

    I doubt it would be a good idea, or necessarily even effective. But, could you make fuel pods? Like under the water water balloons where if the fuel explodes it would cut itself from the rest of the ship to stop any burning? Like the fuel tank, surrounded by 3x3 metal, with a soft block that would disconnect it from the main ship if the fuel explodes. My thought is to have the angle to hit them with them under the hull of this ship being their primary defense. Of course, that may not even slightly be effective.
    It would just be nifty if we could make section of a ship that auto detach if the payload gets hit, limiting fire damage. Which seems like a very real threat now.

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  Месяц назад

      Interesting idea, I should try that! :D

    • @alenvire
      @alenvire Месяц назад

      @@BorderWise12 I assume it depends on whether the fire damage immediately transfers to the next viable block or if the disconnect would end the fire.
      I would love if it works like it realistically should but there is always game limitations.

    For a name suggestion, how about the Ribit or Ribbit? Ri(sky)-Bi(g)-T(hing)? XD
    So, if you find that you want to use batteries, the fastest way to fill them is by using Steam generators. Large steam generators, most specifically, double sided. Upsides: Most power generation possible. Not very block-dense. Downsides: Only puts energy into batteries- doesn't produce non-battery energy. Large, so generally big target.
    Also just checking- is your shell and frag amount maxed out? I mean in settings. If not, I'd definately suggest putting them to max to allow as many shells (and fragments) as possible before they'll despawn. Another potentially weird suggestion- if you need to problem-solve the amount of shells without wanting to lower the rate of fire, it -might- be possible to add a timed fuse to the shells (the kinetic ones too) which is set for a time-to-distance beyond reasonable expected engagement, but far before the natural despawn range of the shell. It means that misses- which are major culprits in active shell numbers, aren't clogging up the shell numbers for as long as they otherwise would. Downside, of course, is that it weakens the shell. So it's a solution for only if the shell limit is being grossly exceeded in a manner where shell number reduction is an implausible solution.

    Btw the Firepower/1000 Materials for your Cram Turret seems to be about 1.3, Ive made one that got to about 1.7 though its armor is light, but 1.6 should be possible for your gun. I know, cram tetris is a headache, but learning it downright makes your crams better.

    • @cheezebagz729
      @cheezebagz729 Месяц назад

      Underestimated a bit, your guns more likley to be around 1.45-1.5

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  29 дней назад +1

      I literally make tutorials on CRAM tetris and I was using the most material-efficient form already. XD
      Problem is, CRAM is better in a more boxy shape and those turrets are too tall: too many connectors for their volume.

    i personaly prefere to keep my guns at around 60rpm to not have to deal with the problem with projectile limit. but in the end it shouldnt really matter. except for you big rapid fire guns they defenitly are to much i think. with 8 miniguns. the game cant really handle that i guess

    15:00 did you word it the wrong way? Ie, ships tend to be better than thrustercraft?

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  Месяц назад +3

      Nope. Airships/thrustercraft are generally better than surface ships in FtD, because:
      - They're easier to make fast-moving and maneuverable due to the lack of water drag. This therefore makes them more evasive, survivable and tactically responsive.
      - Naturally torpedo-proof, because they fly.
      - They never beach themselves, 'cos they fly over the beach. They might drive into a mountain, though.
      - It's easier to absolutely cover them in weapons: top, bottom and sides.
      - Buoyancy isn't a worry, since they just use MORE POWER to fly. Even weight isn't usually an issue because of CJEs.
      - Because of the aforementioned CJEs making weight a non-issue, it's ironically easier to make airships more heavily armored than surface ships (especially frontsiders).
      I kind of touched on this in the video, but the only real advantages that surface-displacement ships (not hydrofoils) have over airships is:
      - Ships can be cheaper to keep running, because they don't have to burn materials to maintain their altitude.
      - They can keep flammable blocks below the waterline so they don't go up like a torch when their steam engines or fuel tanks get hit.
      Hope that clears things up. :)

    why not pitch up the props on v7? it could have the same effect at the rear prop on the v8

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  Месяц назад

      That would use too much power to correct pitch rather than go forward. The problem is also drag, not just prop location.
