    We have a problem with getting comfortable in games and then not being able to deal with momentum shifts. The same thing happened at Leicester and it has me worried about our away games. Hopefully this is a learning curve

    I fully believe and agree…Ange wanted to teach the team a lesson…and took the opinion of….this totally is due to your (players)lack of will and desire…so you guys are going to burn down with the house. Ange would be happy to wear the consequences of his actions…he’s thick skinned….but he’s trying to instil a new culture of never give up till final whistle regardless of score.

    Thanks for the discussion, guys, excellent as always. On the subs question you came back to at the end, I agree with Stu we need to use the subs near to the max (leaving one for a late injury/GC change). Ange did this to great effect with Celtic - an average of three subs on about the 60 minute mark and one a bit later. I think Ange has got into the habit at Spurs of using subs less as he's had his preferred first team and a weaker squad - but with the talent now on the bench, as well as Sarr and Bissouma we could have put Dragusin and Spence on. This doesn't deal with the the attack, but we are missing Son and Odobert (and Richie if he were ever to return fit) so our options were fewer there.

    • @OhSoSpurs
      @OhSoSpurs  Месяц назад +1

      Yep, missing Son and Odobert has been underplayed. It really limited our options in the second half

    Basically we're bang on par with last year in the EPL so far, based on who we've played and the home/away mix. So we're doing ok overall but hopefully the team can push on and improve on last year's effort, in addition to making some good cup runs.

    • @dutchgrass

    I’m in the Stu camp, too. Romero is an issue for me. I’m not one for ranting or emotional decisions. But I would like Romero gone. Yes, gone. Sell him to Madrid and buy a left back, a left CB, and play Radu. A real defender. Leave space for Phillips, Dorrington, or Vuskovic, to come through.
    If all possible, we need a top drawer keeper to push Vic too. It’s obvious Ange doesn’t fancy Austin & Whiteman. And Forster is now too old, IMO.
    Also, it’s imperative, IMO, that we get a TRUE LEADER in the 6 role, in the middle of the park. For me, Sonny, Madders, & Romero aren’t leaders. I’m sorry, they’re just not. They’ve, consistently, proved that at the end of last season into this.
    We need a driving, demanding, tough, professional, captain at our club. And none of the aforementioned meet that profile, sadly. Who that is, I don’t know. But, surely Ange & Lange do?
    The reason I’m sick to death of Romero are his continual mind farts 💨 and his prioritising his international career above club. To quote Ange, “UNACCEPTABLE”. Just my opinions, which have no bearing on anything.
    Great show gents, love the balanced views 😊

  • @barneyhall2753
    @barneyhall2753 Месяц назад +3

    On the subs.
    Ange has talked about the players finding solutions on the pitch.
    By delaying the subs, I think Ange was looking to see who would stand up and take responsibility.
    In the past Romero has been the one, but few others have. Against Brighton it is was basically no one.
    p.s. Ha, ha. Early question for discussion.

    I always defend Ange from undue criticism but the second half was on him as far as not making subs to help change the game. The ONLY logical thing for keeping them on was he was either hoping they would turn it around or he wanted them to learn a lesson. Same as how he used the crazy Chelsea game. But lets hire that Sports Psychologist please!

  • @davidallan6893
    @davidallan6893 Месяц назад +1

    I believe another valid point with the team….spurs are filled with so many youngsters….they individually don’t have the experience to “stand up” under pressure and fight…when it’s obvious the team is sliding backwards during a game. Players aren’t robots….so they need to be taught and trained what to do in situations like the Brighton game ….early on when the signs are looking bad.

    • @OhSoSpurs
      @OhSoSpurs  Месяц назад

      We had some senior players in there like Vicario, Romero, Porro, Bentancur, Maddison and Solanke too. I think it was more a lack of natural leaders than it was experience per se

    Just out of curiosity, I wonder what constitutes a 'late' sub? While I don't disagree that the subs probably should have come earlier in this particular game, Ange does not always wait that late, or? Mostly, subs come on at the 70th minute or so, sometimes earlier, and sometimes later. With that said, the stats show that our pressing intensity usually dips at around 60 minutes (credit to Nathan A. Clark of the The Extra Inch, btw). For me, the second half debacle smelled of complacency, then not having the energy to turn it on again when required as Brighton stepped up their game in second half. I've said this elsewhere, but for all his limitations, a player like Hojbjerg would have helped in this regard, for his leader qualities alone. Hopefully, someone can step up and become that (but I don't really know who!).

    Brighton made adjustments at half time, Notably in the left wing position. Ange didnt see this or adjust his tactics to counter act this. This has been highlighted by Danny Murphy and other tactics show.
    This is a big problem with ange, he dosent seem proactive enough during a game. He sets up the team and thats it, Even when the other teams manager makes adjustments. That will be his downfall unless ( doubtfully) he changes

    • @OhSoSpurs

      Brightons second half game plan was spot on. They got it right. However I do agree with Ange that it wasn't tactics that cost us the game. It was pathetic and complacent defending. None of those goals were due to a high line
