All this reminds me of the absolute injustice of giving Edelgard the exact same paralouge as Cyril and Hilda. Like, what?! Claude and Dimitri get good, original paralouges that suit them while Edelgard gets a timeskip version of someone else's?! Who thought that was a good idea, huh?
Honestly, they did Edelgard dirty in the Black Eagle route. What with Claude and Dimitri getting reunion cinematic, better paralouges, the story just ending after Rhea with no mention of TWSITD or Nemesis edit: Plus the amount of characters you cant obtain: Catherine (One of my faves), Hilda, Cyril, GilbertFlayn, Seteth. The only route exclusives we get for Crimson Flower are Hubert and Jeritza. Blue Lions and Golden Deer can get all the others.
Crimson flower is quite literally the only route o have yet to take.... And I can't motivate myself to play it. My roomate and I started three houses together. I chose golden deer and he chose the black eagles. And we were going back amd forth on why we shouldnt have killed a character. I learned thst he killed claude and i just looked at him and said,"Dude. You mightve started a war with another country just by doing that alone." I killed Bernie during the battle scene and he then proceeded to tell me her back story and o was dad afterwards.
I'm kind of surprised no one has done a comic series about the toll any one of the four Routes take on Byleth's psyche. I always pictured Byleth being happiest and actually feeling something when they where teaching before the War, and that deep down... all she wanted was to bring Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard together so she didn't have to watch all some/all her beloved students die. Unfortunately, Fate was never gonna let that happen, so every death takes its toll
I saw one where byleth repeatedly uses divine pulse so save Claude from dying, but every time she does either someone else dies or he just dies in a different way. She's going crazy trying to find a way to keep everyone alive, but I'd alone in her efforts because she's the only one who remembers.
Dammit, Hilda! Claude told you to RETREAT! Hilda, you could've joined like Lysithea did, or been spared like Claude, but noooooo, the one time you choose to energetically rush into battle... (And for no good reason, too, considering there was a CF ending for Hilda written, but removed from the game)
Because, in the end, Hilda was ready to die for his friends. Hilda is an hypocrite, she says to other that is useless to die for the others but she could never turn back and flee. She could never join CF, because she could not turn his back to Claude, and she is not gonna let you arrive to Claude without killing her(except, of course, fliers and warp shenanigans)
All these comments about avoiding Hilda with overly complicated warp, rescue, and/or dancing strats. Meanwhile there's me literally walking past her and staying out of her range.

I feel like the existence of this paralogue is the game slapping you in the face for not avoiding Hilda. The game sets the goals for the Alliance chapters so that you don't have to fight any Deer except Claude, and you can spare him. In theory, all Deer can survive in CF.
That's what happened in my route. I managed to not have to kill Leonie by avoiding her and since I was playing on casual I was fine with sacrificing a few units against Hilda, not that it would have helped Linhardt as he freaking critted against him. I recruited everyone else but Raphael but he didn't show up.
And this is why I stick with Blue Lions, it's the only Route where two lords survived and almost everyone with the exception of Hubert and Edelgard die, though Edelgard was given a chance to live when Dimitri offered his hand out to her and she decided to try to kill, though I don't know why since should she have managed to kill him, Byleth would have been the one to finish her off.
CF can have two lords survive, too, technically. Claude can be spared if defeated with Byleth or Edelgard; of course, AM does have the advantage here in that Claude survives by default. And also, you can recruit almost everyone in CF to keep them alive, just like with the other routes. Hilda and the Church (sans Shamir and Alois) are the only exceptions, and even then, their deaths aren’t mandatory (granted, Seteth and Flayn both have to be spared by Byleth, and as much as I’ll defend Crimson Flower, it really drops the ball on making that clear and you have to already know to do that, but still).
@@SuperJimmy978 I know most of these facts, it's just that every time I do CF, feel like a monster for joining the wrong side and not being able to recruit everyone due to doing it on Maddening no new games plus.
I mean this sincerely, not to be mean: At least part of that is self-inflicted 😕 I always play on Normal New Game+ and I can recruit everyone I want to recruit by Chapter 7 or 8.

I remember playing this CF chapter where I spared Claude and did everything I could to avoid killing Hilda and Marianne... it took a few resets but I did it
I thought I could get Hilda after Lysithea joined my team. Nope. Fortunately I was willing to time-wheel back to whenever necessary to blitz Claude without having to defeat Hilda. Woosh.
I honestly believe this was more logical than mushrooms, and finally, we get a dub on CF (the best route) I even said something in the lines of this 4 videos ago.

Edelgard would've been perfectly fine with the Nabateans living in seclusion so long as they kept hands off of human affairs, but because Rhea was so obsessed with control to prevent a Red Canyon (Part 2), a mercy kill was the only play on the table, and non-CF routes made her keep Rhea alive because of the threat TWSitD presented and how ingrained into Enbarr's system they were. The whole point of starting the war and destroying the Crest system was because TWSitD gamed the system so heavily to the point that they can keep Enbarr at gunpoint.

What exactly did Edelgard get wrong? Most of the arguments against her are subjective at best and terribly flawed at worst. The only legit issue is with her killing Claude and that’s a choice that can be made or not. Almost every other argument pertaining to her starting the war can be explained by “She’s the Emperor of Adrestia.”

Depending on how you play you can actually avoid killing Hilda or Dedue, also if you have Byleth defeat Claude, Seteth, or Flayn then you can choose to spare them

Eh its hard to try playing CF especially having played the route where you had to take care of the main lord the entire time (Dimitri). I don't have the guts to actually kill him considering how sad and broken his life is without me-I mean Byleth.

I mean I like Silver Snow and Verdant Wind too, but I also kind of wanted an ending where Fodlan unites as one of the countries introduced to us in the beginning of the game and not just be named “United Kingdom of Fodlan.” Crimson Flower fits that category, but f*** that route. Azure Moon ends with all of Fodlan becoming the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, so for me in terms of story and ending, it’s my favorite. If Verdant Wind ended with Fodlan uniting as the Leicester Alliance, then I would like that too.

But even without hapi, they kill cornelia *(something that SS/VW doesn't dowince she flees. There's crimson flower but the bad outweighs the good)* the only real arguement would be nemesis but again if that's your only argument 🤷🏿♂️

You can really feel the regret and guilt from byleth. I'd also feel like this is far more canon than "mushrooms"
