What’s really odd, i play tuba in band, tried trumpet and could produce fairly low tuba range notes on it due to some wacky embouchure that I managed to do even with the smaller mouthpiece
@@TucsonDude Actually it doesn't take more breath control to hit the high notes. Just better embouchure. Guess your not a horn player huh? The fact that that highest note is a whole octave higher than I've ever played and hitting that double high G was enough to almost make me black out once... how
Trying a different mouth piece size or shape may help with comfort and air flow. More importantly is just the technique and to increase air speed. Playing super high alot with bad technique can leave lip scarring possibly, if you're not aware. In my opinion circular breathing and double tongue-ing are more useful.
@@honestreviews3351 consistent tonality is better than infrequent high notes. Also Extremely low notes are cooler 😎 with added bonus of not popping a blood vessel.
I haven't played in ages, but I remember squealing embouchure, especially when starting with a squeal was different from my normal range playing. My teacher kept telling me to roll my lips in, and something about breathing like I have burning hot pizza in my mouth, seriously lol 😅

I've been lucky enough to see Sandoval in concert twice and as good as his trumpet playing is it can't hold a candle to his piano playing. OH - MY - GAWD! He's a huge talent in any case and has been for a very long time. He (Sandoval) hosted the Gene Harris Jazz Festival in Boise, ID the year after Gene died and even though I knew of Arturo long before that, the rest of the people that I dragged along with me to the festival had not. Sounds and looks like they finished to me. The trumpet solo just gave me a case of contact hemorrhoids. TBH the best part of the solo were the incredible low notes.
As a former trumpet player, hitting those high notes and soloing is not easy. Was in a jazz band in college & had to do my own riffs at times. This player knows how to play the room. And he is good!

Only once you’ve played a trumpet and gone up the scale will you truly understand how much skill and constant dedication to the instrument it takes to come even close to playing those high notes.
I have a terrible cold, have to breathe through my mouth, and when I swallow food, the air forced through my sinuses... my nose hits that same high note.
it’s possible he was playing at 0:25 but it was out of the range of human hearing
No way
Is that real?

He was playing a very high C but you have to listen very closely with perfect pitch
The high notes are cool, but the low notes are actually insane
Agreed, extremely low notes are way more awesome than ear piercingly high ones.
@@naterbator I can confirm, that was an extremely note in my opinion.
He hit the lowest notes I can hit
On the bass trombone
But them high notes are soO hard ngl the tightness of the lips when hitting them, then after the song your lips are buzzing like a vibrator (pause) 😅

Nah, This man is built different. Those high notes are crazy, but going that low in the bass clef is just unheard of.
That's talent and dedication right here wonderful !
0:55, I love that the conga player and the drummer are synced
His trumpet is crying for help 💀
Pretty amazing, I've never heard a note that high on a brass instrument. Now those are some chops.
I got to meet him once, in Seattle, years ago at Jazz Alley. ❤❤❤
Sandoval is a monster every time he plays.
This is the funniest solo of all time
Honestly his pedals are more impressive. Insanely solid tone

Sometimes . . . band members are truly impressed by a member's solo. It happens.
I would have loved to hear this entire song. Man he can blow that horn!! :)
Arturo Sandoval truly is a range master on the trumpet. A range like his is what we should all strive for.
He does it more smoothly than I've ever seen before.
the pedal tones arae just eath shattering
This man just turned a trumpet into a trombone and back again like 3 times.
I passed out when I saw the scale
Very nice 👌
His talent is beautiful. 😮😮😮
love the sheet music at the end- "mega drum roll" "give sax a medal"
