    Great build! I just finished a very similar one - figuring out the angle for the magnet blocks was the fun part for me. When the magnets grab the chisels, it’s such a satisfying feeling.

    Incredible presentation. Very educational with enough detail so I can go out and build one myself.

    This looks great~!! I've been futzing around with drawing up a chisel rack similar to the one you were previously using, but no more...I'm going with the design you just built. I've got some Black Walnut just begging to be used and this looks like the perfect project for it. Thanks for sharing it, Mike~!!

    Great video again Mike. I really like your style. You're an inspiration to me and make me wanna get on with building my woodworking company.
    I've heard your doubt about how to continue this channel. I hope you keep doing this the way you are now. Like i said i really like watching your video's and i know it takes up a lott of your time and maybe now it doesnt seem worth it, but concistency is key here brother. I think if you just keep it up, it will pay off eventually.

    Nice little cabinet for your chisels. Rather recently, FIne Woodworking did a review on hard wax oils if you’re interested.

      I saw that. Haven't read it yet. I think that everyone should find the finish that works best for their needs though. There really isn't one bomb proof option. But those reviews are a great way to get steered in the right direction.

    Beautiful cabinet 🔥so good having chisels within easy reach👏
    Curious whether you flattened the backs of the Richters, or were they flat enough from the factory ?

      I flattened them. They were pretty good tbh but I still did it.

    Super impressive build! And now you've got me thinking about hide glue, something I've never considered before, but it looks like I should.

      For tight joinery it's amazing. For panels it's advantages are inconsequential. It's amazing for traditional joints and for small pieces. It doesn't clog the wood pores like pva glue. In fact it can be a good sealer. It's really cool stuff.

    Is that a Sjobergs workbench?

    • @CoffeyCustomBuilds
      @CoffeyCustomBuilds  Месяц назад +1

      It's an Armor Tool workbench. It's served me well but I'll be building a more traditional workbench in the coming months.

    when I looked into making a magnetic chisel holder of my own I found people saying that they would magnetize over time and that it would make it harder to sharpen them. Curious to see what your experience will be because it's way more convenient to store them this way!

      I have done the same with rules I used for metalworking. Expensive ones, old and new. I got a plug powered degausser from a garage sale. Complete with the odd color from the 60’s. It works great. Hold the button and scan over it. No longer magnetized at all.

    Really nice video, thank you. How do you like that Laguna drift master fence? I was thinking about getting one for my 1412. Also, I know it goes against your hand tool passion but I’ve been been making a lot of dovetail boxes with my Shaper Origin. Pretty easy and effective way to make dead accurate dovetails.

    • @CoffeyCustomBuilds
      @CoffeyCustomBuilds  Месяц назад

      I've been VERY impressed with the Driftmaster. It's a solid addition to the bandsaw.
      And I am all for using the Origin for dovetails. I love doing them on there. And my Pantorouter. I'm just in a deep undying love with hand tools. It's brings me more joy. But when I need to do production work or repeatability is an absolute must, the Origin is the go to.

    Hide glue as lubricant? 🤔 Mike, does that bottle occasionally go missing and you find it by your night stand?

    how do you keep the dust out?

    • @CoffeyCustomBuilds
      @CoffeyCustomBuilds  Месяц назад +1

      That side of my shop is primarily hand tool. Mostly it's shaving and not dust. A quick hit with compressed air and it's clean.
