Yamato has the greatest caliber in history yes, but still not the best Armor Battleship yet, the 410mm hard armor only useful for Torpedoes protection, but not effective on 15 or 16 inch AP Shell. If you want to talk about survivability then Yamato probably are the worst one, Bismarck and Tirpitz has much better double hull construction than hard armor design. If you doubt it i can tell you why double hull construction design way more better than Hard armor design.
