@@redwings13400 I mean so far warcraft fandom seems to be doing more fun warcraft lore than blizzard can currently do like with how playful Flying Buttress is with their warcraft videos. I think that if warcraft is a middle-point between goofy and serious then Blizzard went 90% goofy 10% serious while fans went 90% serious while 10% goofy which is why your jokes land so well. My heart was not prepared for 200 archers killing the dark portal and Danath killing Alleria in one run for being an archer but actually marrying her in another parallal universe for being the only alliance member alive in existence you legit accidently made adam and eve
Thank you! I've put in a lot of effort in to improving that aspect of my videos, and I'm glad its paying off! :D I love Warcraft 2 because it was my first exposure to blizzard RTS. However, it also doesn't hold up super well when compared to the rts games after it. The pathfinding makes this challenge SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT than it should be in certain places. However, its a double edged sword, because the AI follows the same pathfinding rules, which is the only thing that gives me any hope whatsoever in other moments.
You can actually beat tomb of sargaras without using your starting army. You can steal your opponents main with just 4 peons. You can kill the cannon tower guarding purples gold with the peons, build a hall and mine from it while purple is mining from it. After that you just build up. (The blue cannon tower will hit the hall, but luckily the hall has a bunch of hp.)
Can't say I was expecting Warcraft 2. Not complaining though The differences between Warcraft 2 and 3 are very interesting to see, between the pathing and lack of upkeep, as well as the fact that the units are just different to what I'm used to. I started with Warcraft 3 (I actually started with Frozen Throne to make it even weirder). Half the units are slightly unfamiliar to me (I've tried playing Warcraft 2 and managed a few missions, but while it's still playable enough for me, it's not as easy to get around to playing it as I thought it'd be) Footmen next? Well, that should be interesting. I'm expecting more of the same problems coupled with the fact that footmen are likely stats wise not as strong as grunts, but I'm also expecting something they have to make the campaign doable (maybe lower supply cost or certain upgrade, not sure) This was very fun to watch
Ooh, so one thing you should know for warcraft 2 is that it is actually much less advanced in game design than you're giving it credit for! In this game, humans and orcs are identical statistically, with only some very minor differences in upgrade costs and spellcasting. Footmen = grunt, archer = troll, dragon = gryphon, knight = ogre, battleship = juggernaut, etc. The two races aren't completely identical, as paladins and ogre magi get different spells, mages and death knights get some different spells, archers/trolls get some different upgrades, and the attack/armor upgrades cost slightly different for the two factions. However, the vast majority of the roster for the two factions is completely identical. In multiplayer, the orcs are generally considered stronger than humans because bloodlust for ogre magi is a significantly stronger ability than healing is for paladins, and those are by far the best units in the game. The original StarCraft was a huge step forward in asymmetrical balance in rts, but it wasn't actually originally a part of the genre! For the first two warcrafts, the main difference between humans and orcs was just cosmetics!
@@redwings13400 I did not know that. Or, I think it's more accurate to say I didn't fully remember that when I said that. I do have some experience in Warcraft 2, but evidently not enough to remember that So the only difference would be concerning units that aren't going to be used in these runs in regards to the factions. In that case, I'm guessing the difference ends up being having to face bloodlust on the magi rather than anything regarding the human units themselves
@@Undeath9087 Pretty much. The biggest difference is just the level design more than anything else. In general, I'd consider both Tides of Darkness campaigns to be pretty easy ones, while the Beyond the Dark Portal campaigns are pretty brutal in terms of difficulty. Like, if I were to rate both campaigns in terms of starcraft 2 difficulty, Tides starts at casual, quickly transitions to normal, has a couple of hard levels near the end, then has one brutal level at the very end of the human campaign. Beyond, meanwhile, starts at hard and goes to brutal pretty quickly, with several levels being among the most challenging blizzard has ever released.
Interesting thing. Can you elaborate on the part with "the units are just different to what I'm used to" and "Half the units are slightly unfamiliar" ? Because, other than the spells, the units, their function, is very similar to their Warcraft 3 counterparts. And visually, I'd say they're easy to recognize/understand. And their voices and quotes are even more memorable (though Warcraft 3 stands very tall on that order aswell). And man, are axe throwing trolls cool or what ?
@@Winnetou17 Mostly in terms of how they play compared to Warcraft 3 in terms of movement, speed, damage type, and all that. @@redwings13400 Yup, they did a lot of right indeed. Even though the mechanics of the game are way below par for today, they're still usable. And the aestethics of the game aged very well. I’m gonna guess that most levels are doable, but the levels involving naval landings on islands are probably impossible, and I feel like dalaran would be an absurd absolute nightmare.
