    it's so funny to see eurovision fans finding out about ralli-english. it's a thing. and it has a very simple explanation, finnish is always pronounced exactly how you spell it, meanwhile english is not. therefore, finns speaking english have trouble pronouncing english words "properly" cuz it goes against our natural instincs of how words should be pronounced.
    and yes, käärijä is very cute and i am very proud of him for trying his best at english even tho he knows he's not the best at it.

    • @raapyna8544

      I speak excellent English but somehow I'm proud when we send people who don't speak English much at all like Patrik Laine and Käärijä to represent us abroad. It feels good, like how Japanese and French people don't need to speak English. It feels like a privilege to only need to speak your own language while being a world champion in something. Finnish rally drivers are famously bad at English and it's an example of this too, although they actually often speak very good English, just the pronounciation is very Finnish. I also know many university researchers whose pronounciation is horrible... I almost feel proud of it. They're still excellent in their field and speak professional academic English, just with very Finnish accent. I almost feel like a simp for speaking English so good.

    • @juniperp8650
      @juniperp8650 Год назад +18

      I am not sure if this is the case. I mean if the reason behind the difficulty is that finnish is pronounced exactly how you spell it. Greeks also pronounce words the way they are spelled but they don't do the same mistakes.

      Does it also have something to do with English stress patterns? As a native English speaker there are some words that I've known all my life and still if you asked me to say them out loud I'd stumble over which syllables to stress. Is that an added challenge because Finnish stress patterns follow much stricter rules?

      He understands the language quite well, from what I've seen he fairly rarely asks for translation. He just doesn't speak well, because he never had to. He said so in interviews, his only use of English before this were English speakers asking for kitchen equipment. This is common, but unlike most people in his position, Jere is not afraid to try anyway 💕

      @@evamuhlbauer4575 I think he pronounced it like that because he knew he couldn't pronounce it right. That way you could at least recognise the word and understand it. (Längvits would be the alternative)

    I just love, love, love him 😄💚
    I'm originally from Finland, and I remember so many Finns being afraid to speak English, in case they make a mistake.. Even native speakers make mistakes, so there's no reason to be afraid!
    Käärijä is perfect, for doing his best, communicating, and being understood! 💚 Who cares, if there are mistakes, and mispronounced words - in fact, that even adds to his charm 🙂✨
    And, he's encouraging so many people with his example!
    I just love everything about him. He brings joy 💚
