    Great review as always! Strangely, I didn't hear any rattling throughout your test. Anyways, this an awesome bike and even though the rest of the industry follows the mullet set up, this one looks pretty nimble for a 29er E-MTB! keep up the good work!

      Hey thanks! I wear a microphone while filming. I keep it very close to my face. It doesn’t pick up as much sound from the bike. That’s probably why you couldn’t hear it. That said it wasn’t as noticeable on this bike as it is on others.

      Thanks for the kind words.
      I wouldn’t run the 160 as a mullet. You wouldn’t get much benefit from it (the chainstays wouldn’t get shorter). I think the 160 is a bit more sturdy and it feels more grounded. The Heckler is more lively and fun.

      @@TeamCykelhold I personally have a Rise. It’s amazing. This Yeti is the closest to that bike in terms of handling that I’ve ridden so far. I do appreciate the extra travel, suspension design and slacker geo of the Yeti too.

    • @TeamCykelhold
      @TeamCykelhold 3 года назад

      @@bikersedge You should do the mullet conversion of the Rise then :) 216x63 coil shock (with progressive spring) with one offset bushing (reduce), a 160 fork and 27.5 wheel in the back. you end up with a lightweight 160/160 MX shredder and the BB isn't significantly higher and the HTA is also slacker. If you are into custom builds, this is a nice one to do :) If you are interested I can link you more detailed info.

      Now that almost all emtbs are up at that $10k mark, Im really between this 160e and the Rise. I was previously excited about the low weight rise for its maneuverability, handling, and jumping capability but everyone is praising the 160e even with its long travel is just as capable without feeling like a huge FF. Man I wish I could test both back to back. My trails in the midwest are somewhat similar to yours (albeit forest instead of open mtn) but similar climbs, decents, fast birms and switchbacks with mild doubles and drops. What would you take if you were between the rise and this 160e for that type of riding?

  • @TheDiablosix6six

    Only problem I see with this bike is the 630w battery might be too little now that the bigger companies are starting to put 725w batteries on their bikes now and I don't think yeti can make that change quick enough to keep up but it does look like a super bike!!

    How’s it handle compared to the Rise? I have been on a 3rd Gen Levo the last week and boy is it heavy (51lbs) compared to the Rise. Especially notice it on hard braking into a tight berm. You can feel the difference in weight and the 3rd Gen Levo is supposed to hide the weight but I guess you can never beat physics. Wondering how the Yeti handles compared to a lightweight.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  3 года назад +1

      It is very heavy compared to the Rise. That alone makes it ride differently. The handling on the Yeti is so good, though, you almost forget about the weight until you try to bunnyhop. Still, the Rise feels like a more natural ride experience.

    The EP8 is so clunky, that rattling noise would stop me from buying a bike with Shimano motor. Every bike with EP8 I rode so far was making that dreadful noise.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  3 года назад

      My Orbea rise with the EP8 RS is pretty noisy. I didn't notice the nose as much on this bike, though. Maybe it has a bit to do with Yeti's cable management or the fact that the motor is brand new. It didn't jump out at me as being noisy though.

Specialized and Yeti in particular seem to get singled out, with special mention to Santa Cruz but Trek, Scott, Pivot, Cannondale, BMC and several others all have £10k+ bikes on their roster (some have several) and that’s not even ebikes! Some MTB riders need to get it into their head, some things aren’t made for everyone… I can’t afford a Ferrari but I don’t cry about it. • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  3 года назад

      I think a lot of folks just assume Yeti costs 2-3k more than competing brands when they actually don't know. We recently did an all mountain bike showdown that included the Yeti SB130. If I'm not mistaken it was the second to least expensive bike out of the four in the test.

    • @Roaming50
      @Roaming50 3 года назад +1

      @@Mockle07 I think there is a general out-cry over how elevate bike prices are becoming. At least that is the perception. But expensive things have always been expensive. I worked out a while back that, inflation adjusted, I spent around $11,000 on a uber high-end titanium hard-time with all the most droll worthy boutique stuff of the day in the mid '90s. Today, that bike would probably be crap compared to modern offerings but it shows there has always been a high end. Today, my last bike was a $6,000 YT that had the spec of a $9,000 Yeti or Specialized. Those later bikes are probably better built than my YT, but is it really $3k worth of difference. I didn't see the advantage and my "poor mans" YT works well enough now. Today, I don't see the advantage to the super high end bikes but if someone has the means to get one, then good on them. It's nice to have nice stuff.
