Hiyooooo boyos! In case you're not following us on Facebook (facebook.com/oswreview/) or Twitter (twitter.com/OSWreview) the new episode went up on the website! The episode is taking a bit longer to clear on RUclips (sure WWE themselves have been turned upside down by global events) so I put it up now so you can see it, we could all use a laugh! HOW MUCH DOES THIS PODCAST WEIGH? OSW 89 King of the Ring 1994: oswreview.com/media/oswreview89/ 👑
I'm watching this and playing my NES Classic right now. One of my favorite pastimes is to queue up an OSW review and play some oldschool games, and of course, a few brews or smokes enhances it for me as well. Today's game? Fester's Quest. I'm gonna finally beat that bastard.
"Is he another wrestler?" I don't know, Art. He's wearing wrestling tights, walking down a wrestling ramp, to a wrestling ring, during a wrestling event, with a wrestling theme playing, and about to do wrestling moves. So no, he isn't. He's a sports entertainer.
I always found Art's commentary to be endearing. He clearly has no idea what's going on, but he's clearly getting into it, even if it must have been driving Gorilla and Mach up the wall. It's like watching wrestling with your grandparents or something.
I was 10 for KOTR 94 and I can vividly remember being baffled by Art Donovan. It was also very clear that Gorilla and Macho were getting more pissed off as the Mr. Magoo routine dragged on. Bret left with the belt though so 10 year old me was delighted 😂
Why do I have a feeling that Vince either FED Art that line, or at the very least, collapsed backstage in a fit of laughter after hearing Art call Jeff that.
@@mrmusickhimself Vince was actually at home watching it with the undertaker. He'd just had neck surgery so he wasn't there. God knows what he thought of Art's commentary.
Without doubt some of the (unintentionally) funniest WWF moments ever! "Yeah, he hit him with a rock!" "He looks like a businessman!" "Who's the fella with the American flag?" "How much does this guy weigh?" "How much does that guy weigh?" "How much does this fella weigh?" But "to your point", it's better than most commentary these days.
@@rodycaz8984 Hmm, well let's see. Tom Phillips and Vic Joseph are woeful cookie-cutter corporate shills. Byron Saxton has always been truly awful. Michael Cole has always been second rate. Beth Phoenix is useless. So there are at least FIVE announcers who are worse. If I hear "right one the back of his neck" or "to your point" one more time, I'll freaking kill myself. But Corey Graves, Nigel McGuinness and Wade Barrett are fine, while Mauro Ranallo was great.
This ppv is quite literally what started my wrestling binge of the last 2 years. Art on commentary had me fucking DYING. I had no idea so many people hated it, lol. I can fully see why. He is clearly lost as fuck. But that's what makes it so great. "Hell I thought he was dead."
Never seen this before, he seems like a classic example of the old sports legend who does "An evening with..." tours and can go through the old war stories and make everyone laugh, but the second you try and get him to talk about something he doesnt understand he flounders.

lol it's the same with my dad now. I stayed with him for a little while last summer and I decided to check out WWE after Hunter took over. It was funny to hear his reactions to some of the moves from the cruiserweights. He'd be like "Whaa! 😮 Jeez! Doesn't he get hurt doing that?! 😂" and every time he saw Rhea Ripley he'd say "Oh, it's that girl that looks like Marilyn Manson." It was even funnier when he found out AEW existed. "Oh, so wait, there's another one? 🤨"
And what's his name? And where is he from? I sure wish before the match someone would introduce them to the ring and give us some information like their weight and home town.
there's a point at the finals where Randy says "I don't know" where I honestly I think he was going to walk. Art sort of broke the golden rule (even if he didn't know the actual result) you never say if a wrestler is going to win or lose and if it is said, it's said with VERY careful words without the words "win" or "lose" in the statement.
If I had been at the booth that night, there is no way on Earth I could have kept from laughing my ass off. I'm sure Mach and Gorilla were pissed, but I would have had a hard time keeping myself from giggling myself to death.
1:15 - what i find the most hilarious is that Art couldve waited about five seconds to LISTEN to the announcer's introduction, "from Alberta, Canada, weighing Two Hundred and-- " ('so how much does THIS fella weigh?') " --Twenty-Seven pounds....."

And the Lads at OSW even said he was charming as hell when he went on Letterman. He just seemed to have forgotten to pack his caristma this day.
