Even as a person he was cheerful and best known for the vividness of his expressions. To know more about one of the top scorers of his era, watch Mid Wicket tales With Naseeruddin Shah.

My first cricketing hero. Started watching cricket just to watch him bat. I still remember my desperation as a 6 year old kid when he was dismissed on 99 off Mike Gatting in a cuttack one dayer in 1984,couldn't sleep for days after that. Another lingering memory is how bad I felt when he was hit on the face by Wasim Akram. I was devastated to know that he wouldn't be playing for next few months.

His exceptional fielding needs to be mentioned. Also, for perhaps a decade he was the only Indian bowler to take 5 wickets twice in ODIs. How terrific and frustrating it was to watch him bat. Either murdering the bowlers or out in 2-3 balls. Sehwag added consistency to Srikanth’s approach.
