I got 3 blue oil ferns about a month ago. I put one in moss, one in pon and left the other one in the chunky soil mix it came in. They’re all in self-watering in regular household conditions, probably 50% humidity, nothing special. The one in pon lost a lot of roots so it’s a little slower catching up but the other two are popping out new growth faster than I expected. Recovery time after shipping was minimal. I’m beyond happy I went for the plunge. It turned out to be much easier than I expected and I hope it continues to do this well for me.
I bought one as Microsorum steerei in May, 15€ for about 5 leaves, kept it about a meter from a north facing window, room humidity (right now about 40%) it has grown 1 leaf, is half way through the next one and until I knocked of a leaf a couple of days ago there were no losses. Not much growth, but I was pleasantly surprised by how uncomplicated it has been, especially for a fern. Moved it closer to the window today to see if it will grow faster.
@@thatonedog819 bright indirect. I heard they get bluer in lower light but I have yet to see a difference. The lighting is slightly different for each one so I’m testing which works best
@@monat2993 I read that a lot of growers have been mislabeling and confusing the two names and that there was probably a reclassification at some point. I’m quite sure it’s the same plant. I kept hearing how super slow growing they are so maybe I went in with very low expectations, but I’ve definitely been pleasantly surprised
I'm so glad your shop is OK after the hose coming off the tap! The clip of you walking through it is perfect ASMR 🤭 The photos of a mature majesty are so pretty, thanks for adding to my wishlist ☺️
Yeeees i have blue oil fern. I grow him all winter inside in the house, in temperature like 18-24 degrees Celsius and 40-45 humidity - it was good and put new leaves all winter, now he is outside in the garden (in total shade all day from tree, sun will probably kill him) and for shure he like it outside more. Some time i forgot water him, but he is such a tough boy, so is no problem. Like you very much Keylee! Greetings from Bulgaria!
I feel like letting the pastazanum root into a new pot and cut after would be good! Maybe it will not disturb the plant as immensly as cutting him and then root him. Looove the oily blue boi Jesus. To die for
It always makes me happy to see stuff like this. I saved a long time for a plant, tried to propagate it, I lost all of it. So to see great success awesome 👍😎
Honestly this is one of VERY few channels I watch videos all the way through organically. Lil bit shite about the water but at least humidity is probably monstrous! Thanks for being a place where I can hang, decompress, and indulge in planty biz. 🫂💚
hi, i have the blue oil fern. needs well-draining potting mix, so perlite with soil. you can leave a layer of peat on top as it needs to be kept a bit moist, but for the soil not to be soggy. bright indirect light. slow grower.
Hi Kaylee, I have a Microsorum thailandicum (got it right after your other video on it, actually!) and I can tell you that it seems to do just fine in a home setting. My apartment's insulation is a bit shit but I have it caddy corner to a grow light and next to a humidifier and it hasn't complained. As for the growth, it really does just grow that slowly. I have three adorable new fronds opening at a snail's pace and the rest of the plant has just stayed good with no change. If you're wondering whether you can sell them viably, I would totally buy more just because it's so pretty, don't care how slow it grows (my husband might appreciate plants that stay small lol). Also, I don't know about yours but mine did not complain about shipping at all. Hope that helps, thanks for the awesome video!
You are so right about naming a plant differently to raise the price... it's a scam! Beautiful plants as always Kaylee!! I enjoy every minute of your videos!
Hey Kaylee, I got the 💙Blue Oily Boy💙 (microform thailandicum) immediately after you first showed him on yt, fell in love instantly. 😍 I kept him in my room at 35-50% humitidy in lack of alternatives, with no additional lights in an southfacing window in Germany. And then neglectet him severely because (I got sick for almost 6 months), so now he's still sitting in spaghnum moss in his tiny nursery pot i first got him with, had several months without fertilizer and sometimes couldn't water for 2-3 weeks (also running radiatior an whole lot). And guess what he looks like today!?! Hasn't lost a singe leaf to this day, now has almost doubled in size since i startet to care better for him this summer (water more often and fertilize), got sooo many new leaves and thb is much fuller than yours now. His new leaves are not that dark and blue like yours but thats due to lack of direct light i'd say because i was always afraid of sunburn so i often pulled him back from the window when sun was harsh (unnecessary i guess). I'll start giving him a growlight in same conditions to see if it gives that super hardy plant the massive nice and blue shine full on all leaves (atm its only the older ones). So there's no need to be concerned if he'll survive that change. Its more to check if new foliage will also be the same blue. 💙 Also love you content, wish you all the best 🙏🏻🌿👋
Hi Kaylee! When I repotted my p. warscewiczii, it kept losing every leaf as the next one grew in (and they were tiny). But when it finally decided to stop pouting, the newest leaf is probably 4 times the size of the last leaf. It may take a while, but yours should bounce back and size up fast.
The microsorum is actually called Blue Oil Fern 😂😂 Regarding how they do in a house: I have one in my living room on the window sill. Humidity is anywhere between 40-65%, so not great all the time 😅 He gets some direct sunlight in the morning all year round, more during summer. He hasn‘t grown a ton, I‘ve had him since February and he‘s made one new leaf so far 🙈 But the colour is amazing!! I actually got him from a garden center in Switzerland and he wasn‘t that expensive, I think 35.- if I remember correctly. Considerably smaller than yours though, and I haven‘t seen them anywhere since.
Oh and temperature in here is anywhere between 20 and 24 degrees. He‘s obviously warmer in the window sill during summer, but I guess colder in winter.
Kaylee, I have a beautiful oil fern in my house. In ambient humidity. I live in South Florida to be specific, and it lives in a self watering plant as I belive they cannot dry out and it is in soil and topped off with moss. It is doing splendid. I got this plant last year.
They got me with the name game they play, I got a syngonium chiapense and loved it then the frosted heart came out so of course I had to get that. They look pretty much identical, last thing I need is doubles . Love your videos and all your beautiful plants
I believe they are different plants though. Frosted heart is a Syngonium macrophyllum, which is pretty much impossible to tell apart from chiapense unless they flower. (Could be wrong, but it’s what I’ve heard in syngonium groups)
Hiya Kaylee! Thanks for continual education in re plants to lust after. 😂 Best of luck with all - shop, house, garden, litigation. You are a young woman who has it going on! Braids are so damn cute. Farmer's daughter fantasy. 🤣
Did Ben say, "Fuckin cold isn't it?" 🤣 Glad to hear the shop was not washed away by all the extra water. That PPP is such a nice one. I'm hoping my little two-inch baby will reach that point one day. My vote is to let that Silver Pasta keep growing! It just looks brilliant.
You nailed it Kaylee! Many sellers tend to add catchy names to same plants just to sell, its not even registered as such in the RHS! It's everywhere in the plant community! Some to the point of bastardizing registered name /id of plants!
Hey Kaylee! Did you ever figure out what plant you got when we thought it looked very similar to syngonium Lance Leaf but it seemed to be more viney? So in love with your Microsorum thailandicum looks so exquisite!! I hope I can get mine to look that beautiful. Mine did seem not as happy in normal household environment. Originally the room it was kept in was warm and average humidity. Seemed happy. We moved and I put her in a bedroom with nothing extra. Definitely didn't seem that happy. So I moved her into basement where I have lighting, humidity and warmth... She's putting out a new leaf being in the brighter, warmer, and more humid condition. Love your videos!
Congratulations on your house babe I’m positive it’s going to be so beautiful! I have two pink princesses highly variegated and one looks just like yours! They don’t grow that well but they are quick and they are pink so I’m rockin with them. So sad no mint monstera in this vid. Absolutely bring pasta to your house he will be amazing and he’s mature enough to just push through! I definitely thing the last one is mamei hybrid or just a unique mamei. Looks like mine in every way except my leaves are a little longer. The crawling the ribbons and the markings and ribs in the leaf are same same. All my love! 💚👏 Good work on the clean up girl! Kicking ass as always!
I like the PPP for how much of a surprise it is when you get your next leaf, if it comes out mostly green it’s whatever then you get your nice pink leaf and it’s sooo exciting! I don’t think I wait for new leaves in any of my other plants like this one. I also chopped the top off of mine and it loved it I have 2 growth points now putting out leaves
I really want to know about your containers, how you grow your plants, the type of containers you use :) looks so much easier instead of refilling so many in leca.
Kaylee, can you do a video on plants with leaves that are different color on the back? like how the back of the leaves on a philo lupinum are red. i would love a video like that.
I am so excited because you introduced me to that thailandicum fern and I found one online (the same size as yours! I love in Australia) immediately for about 50 pounds. I can't wait for it to arrive
I have microsorum thailandocum and I’m growing some from spores too. I find they’re not too fussy on light, they tolerate very bright light and fairly low light, they NEED to be warm, above 17c at all times or they stop growing and their leaves yellow and fall off, though they will recover if they are warmed up, and they cannot be allowed to dry out so they thrive in self watering pots UPADTE A YEAR LATER- after 10 months, they started to grow at a really slow rate, literally nothing until 10 months, then I got bored of the spored taking room 😆
Just to throw it out there. I think you should make a video or videos about the monstera obliqua. There is definetly a need for more information about what there actual care and soil/nutrient needs are and then even more so a video talking about all the different forms and everything there is to know about them
Might want to see if you can add a master solenoid valve on a timer which you could set to your normal business hours so if there ever is a leak it would only occur during business hours that you're normally there
Aloha from Maui Kaylee, two thumbs up for your gothic majesty!!! I’m probably a variegated guy, but after getting a free Dark Lord cutting from a friend last fall, I went on a gothic bing after doing a search to ID the Dark Loard, I saw my first majesty. The two I ordered were quite small, and not near as nice as yours. Unfortunately you’re a couple ponds away, so Imostly order from the US mainland…….. Aloha………
The Majesty is actually my NUMBER ONE wishlist plant, I’ve been in love with it for a while, I would love to own one, but I haven’t been able to find one. ❤ You’re not alone, i think they are super sexxxxy & i wish they were more accessible.
Kaylee, I got my blue oil fern around the same time as you got yours and mine has also barely grown. I’m surprised with how hardy she is but yes, she takes her time lol. I get asked by friends and family “if you could only keep one of your plants, which would it be?”. And hands down, it’s my oily blue boi. 💙
Loved the plants in this video but I have to ask, is that a hoya in the white plastic hanging pot next to you? Do you still have hoyas and if so it would be great to see an update on them. Great content as always.
The fern is beautiful, unfortunately, I live in the Sonoran desert in the US and our "rainy season" humidity is 40% max, our normal humidity is around 15%. My humidifier is able to get my bedroom up to 50% but runs almost 24/7. I really enjoy watching your channel even though I'll never be able to spend that much $$$$ on plants.
It took me a while to be able to afford a Blue Oil Fern. I was so mad at myself for a long time because right at the beginning of Covid I had a chance to get a really decently sized one for $80. I told myself "next time!" Luckily, about 5 months ago I was able to trade for one and she's absolutely one of my top favorite plants. Slow grower though! Mine is in ambient room conditions; humidity around 60-70%. I have her in an open glass cloche with rocks at the bottom. I leave water in the rocks for humidity and she's very happy. She gave me a new leaf about a month and a half ago, too!
my PPP's new leaf got broken off for reasons, but its second newest leaf has a nice amount of varigation on it! the rest of the leaves before that are all just speckled white but there's some streaks of light pink on the stem. so sad about that newest leaf because it didn't even unfurl enough for me to see how it looked :(
The majesty is definitely a sexy sexy plant! And you’re right it is completely underrated but there is some thing that is so sexy about the way that it almost looks bluish teal when the light hits it right that she’s so pretty
This might help- when my dad passed away, his house was an hour away. Worried about bursts in pipes in the basement, I was able to buy a sensor that would send me a distress message if it sensed water. I would try Amazon
I absolutely love watching your videos and seeing all the progress of your business and your personal self. You are very inspiring and we need more people like you in the plant world. 💚 I also think that the last Philodendron might be a cross of Pastazanum with Mamei. 🙂
I love my blue oil fern . Iv had him in 60% humidity and around 27,° . He was one of my first " rarer " plants . He is almost 2 years now . He is a bit of a slow grow ...but we'll worth it 👌 ✨️.
There’s nothing wrong with pink princesses in my opinion, they’re lovely if you get a nice bubblegum pink plant/cutting. I bought a chonk cutting a year/2years ago & now I have 7 heavily variegated plants from that cutting ♥️
Hello there! I have to ask, will your plant feed be available in the US after it is released on the market? I want my P. pastazanum silver to look like yours! Thank you for the update, it is always fun seeing your plants and hearing what you have to say.
Yea the Thailandicum seems to need a terrarium environment. From what I understand, it wouldnt really thrive as a normal houseplant unless the house always has a high humidity. Heard that this is a very slow grower
The heat wave stunted a lot of plants, nothing seems to have been growing for anyone since it started. But a lot of stuff are flowering (probably because of the heat wave?)
I have a plant that looks just like the Majesty. It was sold to me as a Dark Lord though. So I'm not sure if it is a Dark Lord but just a juvenile?? Its about the same size as the Majesty you have.
I got 3 blue oil ferns about a month ago. I put one in moss, one in pon and left the other one in the chunky soil mix it came in. Forgot to say, I think it's so wholesome that you asked your mom if she would want that PPP. If you read this, Kaylee's mom: hello 👋
Right lol I'm just watching and thought that was super adorable 🥰 Hi Howdy Kaylee's mom!

I'M GLAD YOU COULD MAKE IT!
This might help- when my dad passed away, his house was an hour away. Worried about bursts in pipes in the basement, I was able to buy a sensor that would send me a distress message if it sensed water. I would try Amazon
I watched all your video I sometime watch a couple day later I love your vidos. Be safe.
I absolutely love watching your videos and seeing all the progress of your business and your personal self. You are very inspiring and we need more people like you in the plant world. 💚
I also think that the last Philodendron might be a cross of Pastazanum with Mamei. 🙂
I bet Ben had some funny things to say while you were cleaning up all the water.
im digging the braids on u kaylee ur videos are always good to watch
I love my blue oil fern . Iv had him in 60% humidity and around 27,° . He was one of my first " rarer " plants . He is almost 2 years now . He is a bit of a slow grow ...but we'll worth it 👌 ✨️.
There’s nothing wrong with pink princesses in my opinion, they’re lovely if you get a nice bubblegum pink plant/cutting. I bought a chonk cutting a year/2years ago & now I have 7 heavily variegated plants from that cutting ♥️
Tell me your secrets, I have 7 and they're giving me nothing. I dream of variegation.
Hello there! I have to ask, will your plant feed be available in the US after it is released on the market? I want my P. pastazanum silver to look like yours! Thank you for the update, it is always fun seeing your plants and hearing what you have to say.
Kaylee I am intrested 8n one of the philodendron longilobatum.i love watching u.
that red crystal ughhhh! i need one.😩
Yea the Thailandicum seems to need a terrarium environment. From what I understand, it wouldnt really thrive as a normal houseplant unless the house always has a high humidity. Heard that this is a very slow grower
Im in a fb group and someone was selling thailandicum for ≈30£ ish for a similar size in ur video, never knew they were hard to find...
That P Silver is gorg!!
I think that a less variegated Princess, looks a bit like the Majesty. So I guess you can say it's a good cheap option for the other one. 😉
I know I'm late but I want a majesty so baaaaad! I can't find one here in the US for some reason!
On my plant group people say PPP in marble type. Ir monstera variegated in marble type. That's ok
The heat wave stunted a lot of plants, nothing seems to have been growing for anyone since it started. But a lot of stuff are flowering (probably because of the heat wave?)
Is the Majesty different than the Bloody Mary? My Bloody Mary is one of my favorite common plants. Your Majesty is wonderful!
I'm so loving the pastazanum silver...I'm kinda confused right now if they are the same with silver cloud because they almost look the same 😅
You philodendron mamei (at 29min) looks like a plowmanii to me! Mine are crawlers and have that random small splashing on the leaves.
Now that I look at it, it isnt red on the petioles, so likely not a plowmanii. The mystery continues!
I have a plant that looks just like the Majesty. It was sold to me as a Dark Lord though. So I'm not sure if it is a Dark Lord but just a juvenile?? Its about the same size as the Majesty you have.
Defo love the majesty😍
Your videos popping up in my sub feed remind me I need to go water my plants 😂
