I wouldn't say Shane is evil. The only two evil things he'd done was assault Lori when drunk and attempting to kill rick. Everything else was because he did it for survival and the tragic thing about his character is that he's the first one to figure out how the world works but can't handle the stress of doing everything that had to be done for example killing Otis was detrimental to Shane's mental health but even rick would have done it in S4 or S5. But the big thing that makes Shane not evil is the fact that he has remorse for killing Otis he has remorse for what happened at the CDC and most of all he feels remorse for being with Lori to begin with OFC he still loves her and tries to rekindle it when but he only ever becomes interested again when he finds out his baby is on the way. The scene where Shane tries to kill rick can be seen as him not being an evil person because Shanes body language is clearly screaming that he doesn't want to kill rick but he thinks he has to. The only reason Shane dies and not rick is because of that. If Shane wanted rick gone 100% and didn't give two shits he'd have shot rick without hesitation but he didn't. All together Shane is bad but redeemable

      @MagnusRobert  6 месяцев назад +3

@@trizard3940There's a difference between doing and saying my dude. Part of that conversation is a macho masculinity dick-measuring contest. I mean at the end of the day Otis was innocent. He could have made it to safety with the meds for Carl, I'm pretty confident Rick would sacrifice himself before he did Otis. Even in Season 6, where Rick tells Glenn and the others to leave the Alexandrians, he says you try to save them but if they slow you down keep going. He still says try to save them. Sure, he's saying put your lives ahead of theirs but Shane wasn't even about that. He gave no shits about looking for Sophia, Shane was only interested in keeping Lori and Carl safe. No one else.
Randall did run with rapists but did he do it too? He'd only recently joined that group and claimed he wasn't involved. Either way, even if he was a rapist Shane killed him in cold blood, that's evil imo.

The Reapers, the Wolves, the Whisperers, the Governor, Negan, and others did awful and sickening things. I’m not trying to downplay those things. 1:23:10 I disagree, heavily, with Shane's placement.
Yes, he tried to rape Lori, however he managed to redeem himself by saving Carl's life (atleast in Lori's eyes).
Of course, he had to sacrifice Otis for that to happen but there was literally no other way for either of them to get out of there without sacrificing the other. Not only did Shane have a sprained ankle but both him and Otis were pretty exhausted, so the horde of zombies was going to, inevitably, catch up to them unless something happened to distract them.
With Randall, it was obvious that this guy was bad news from the start. Not only did Randall try to kill Rick, Glenn and Hershel when he was first introduced, but he ran with a large group that had a few members in it who didn't have a problem with raping two girls in front of their father (yes, he said he didn't touch them but he could've been lying, and even if he wasn't, we have no reason to assume that he tried to stop it).
Also Randall knew where the farm was, and he knew that his people were only about five miles away from it. With Shane knowing this, it would've been stupid of him to let Randall live by that point.
Now, of course, Shane's worst crime was trying to kill Rick and there's no justifying it, but I don't think it's enough to label him as evil. I think Shane should be in "bad but redeemable".

And i don't think Governor deserves pure demon category either. Guy just lost everything he ever had.
First was his wife, even before apocalypse (tragic enough)
Second was his daughter (after he already found safest place possible in apocalypse- which is worse than unlucky)
3rd- was his daughter again- Even after getting bit she kept him holding onto the hope that he won't lost himself from all the things outside- he also had to keep heads in tanks to get used for horrors lurking outside, and was killed by someone who never had to right to do that (michonne)- nobody should be allowed to do that other than parrent
The fact he had to witness his daughter die before him is fucking sick/unimagenable pain... Esspecialy when you have no one else🙁
4th point: After he gone alone becouse he had to gun down his people.. he found another family (Tara's) and another daughter but he still couldn't stand idea that he would be responsible again.. in charge (becouse he knew what and how bad things he would do for that).
So he tried to get out and was stopped by plot..
5th time he found himself in a wrong place on a wrong time with his family, in the Martinez camp.. like if things can't go fucking worse.
6th: He sees that the camp isn't safe with leadership as it is so he tries to escape with tara's family for sake of that safety but he is once again stopped.
Like if the fate itself didn't let him choose anything...
    7th time:
When Martinez reveals himself as a weak leader by saying "Maybe we can share the crown a little" - true leader does never ever share or question his own leadership.. was last straw for Philip. He must do what has to be done.
When he tries to take the only choice he can have in this time (prison) and he can't get it diplomaticly, he looses it, then during the battle his "last" daughter dies again and he has nothing left.. he ultimately gets shot by the same girlfriend he tried to protect.
    (Pretty damn tragic man.)
Note: this doesn't take his deeds likely, some of them were certainly evil, some of them acceptable during time you never know and you have to protect/provide whole town..

Dude laughed while litteraly smashing someone's head and mocked it.. even for Governor it would be damn disgusting to do, Negan was flaming psychopath as ever.

very good analysis. Contrary to what most think, Governor did not attack the prison out of envy or revenge, but rather because he thought that place was the safest to take care of his new family. He would actually let Rick go, probably.

Id say Carl is arguably a saint. Yes he was pretty heartless in the earlier seasons, but i feel like his emotions were all over the place since hes so young, his mother had recently died and i understand him not trusting that guy he shot in the woods. after season 4 he saw his father being brutal, as in the neck biting scene etc, i honestly think hes grown to a saint in s6+ but also considering what hes done in the past id bump him down to innocent maybe mostly good.

Thank you for making the video
but why Glen as Saint if it wasn't for the outpost attack? Glen also wanted to attack Woodbury multiple times without anyone agreeing with him and recklessly wanted to go alone and did a lot of reckless stuff ..... Glen is defo not a saint 😂
Also Eugene is ranked lower for stuff like lying , but Lori lied as well - keeping it secret that she was together with Shane - keeping it a secret that she is preggo and wanted to abort her baby without telling her husband first.. She lied a lot.
Also Mika I see as a saint. Because she is basically the definition of it - she couldn't even shoot the deer 😞
Morgan is mentally ill I think... after what happened to his wife and his son...not evil...

  • @theruiner4272
    @theruiner4272 5 месяцев назад

im going to address the main characters within the show:
Rick is a good person. he's done bad things, made cold and ruthless decisions. and although alot of it was bad, he sorta had to do alot of those things in order to fight for who he loved and his people. the same could be said about many other characters like Abraham, Daryl, Michonne, Carol, and Maggie in the earlier seasons.
Maggie started off as a good character though later on she became more willing to kill, like when she killed a few residents in the Woodbury. but considering what was done to her and Glenn and Daryl being captured by The Governor, it's very understandable that she did that. however from what I've seen in the the spinoff, she seems like a complete cunt sometimes and is too dead set on killing Negan to the point where it seems to get in the way of her finding her son. so not only is she not a very good person, she's also a bit of a moron, or a nutjob.
Abraham is one of the morally best characters in the group. i'm surprised you put him on that rank. i mean yeah, the guy is aggressive, enjoys violence, and has killed people but he's almost always killed people who deserved to die. he's never killed an innocent life just for the hell of it. Rick is far more morally ambiguous than Abraham.
Carol, of course, starts off as a decent person who minds her own business. but loosing her daughter kind of drove her a bit crazy. she's also made alot of ruthless decisions like killing Lizzie. but you also have to understand that Lizzie was completely nuts (likely a schizophrenic) and having her around would surely end up in Judith's death, and maybe even her and Tyreese's deaths. though as time went on she became more comfortable with killing. I'm not too sure as to what happened to her after she kinda went a bit crazy in late season 6 since i sort of tuned out of the show, but from what i can tell, she's a good person in her core, but she's made alot of questionable decision that many people just couldn't make, which speaks both to her strength, but also maybe having a deranged mind due to trauma, but not really moral ambiguity since we know why she's doing what she's doing.
Glenn is, morally, one of the few characters who can both be a very good person, but also not a cowardly piece of shit. He is brave, and had made some reckless decisions. But he's hardly ever made any evil, or even ruthless decisions. He does, however, kill two saviors in their sleep. and even though that's presented as an important moment for his character as well as for the whole group, i think that whole sequence was a bit poorly executed and out of character for both Rick and Glenn, and maybe even Daryl. at that point, the saviors hardly messed with Rick and they are presented by Jesus. the only interaction Rick's group and the saviors had was when Daryl, Abe, and Sasha met a few saviors on motorcycle. But Daryl killed them all and left no survivors to tell the story. Negan would maybe find out they've been killed but that would be the moment where the saviors get involved with Rick and the group. Rick wouldn't realistically risk getting into a war with a new faction (which would result in the deaths of many Alexandrians and possibly his people, including his son and infant daughter) by murdering people in their sleep, which is probably the most evil thing Rick and his group has ever done. so, due to how out-of-character that whole event was, and how poorly written it is, I'm not counting it. so removing that, Glenn hasn't done almost anything evil, to the point where he even lets people he should've killed live, like Nicholas.
Hershel is another character who is completely good. He was a bit of a stubborn ass sometimes in early season 2. but the guy saved the son a man he didn't know, accepted Glenn as his son in law, provided a home for a group of people he didn't even know, often checked on Lori when she was pregnant, helped cure a whole group of people with ebola despite being an old man with a weaker immune system due to his age, and has advised Rick to made good decisions, but still be a leader. if you think about it, he's one of the most admirable characters in the entire show.
Dale was also a good man to the point of being a bit foolish and naive. he has a certain wisdom about him, due to being an old man. but he fails to realize how dangerous it could be to let a guy like Randall survive. but despite this, he's a good man who finds it almost impossible to do a bad thing. Hershel on the other hand, could kill someone or make a tough decision if it's for a good reason, or if it's the right choice. Despite his delusional beliefs of zombies in the first half of S2, Hershel is a more logical thinker, whereas Dale is a bit illogical and emotional.
Shane starts off as a seemingly good person, but of course, he's a man driven by his rage and his passions to the point where he is driven completely insane. so he slowly becomes more and more to a slave of his wrath, which of course makes him a pretty bad person.
The Governor is an evil person, thru-and-thru. he isn't as evil as Gareth or even Joe, but he seems like he is because he probably the most intelligent character on the show if you really think about it. so despite having some morals and not being a full-on psychopath (more like a sociopath), he's still seemingly more evil than these characters because his high level of intelligence and lack of optimism makes him a far more effective characters. the same could even be said for Negan. i know his character is further explored later. But Negan's charisma and his social intelligence (and this is combined with his scary looks in the comics) and his intimidation methods (although poorly executed in the show) is what makes him so effective as a villain. or at least it's what's supposed to make him as effective.
characters like Joe and Gareth run purely on evil juice. there is almost nothing redeemable about these characters to the point where it's almost comical. but at the same time, both are pretty charismatic and are clearly psychopaths. i have a strong feeling that Joe as always been this way, even before the apocalypse. and i think Gareth is one of those people who sort of figures out he's a psycho or sociopath after doing horrific things and not really being emotionally effected by it.
other characters like T-Dog, Bob, and Beth are just good people.
Eugene is a complete coward, and to be honest, on some level, that's a morally bad thing. but later on he sorta goes against Negan after siding with him. And i THINK that sort of solidified him as brave in his own way. he's a cowardly guy, but still has the potential to have balls of steel. much like Saul Goodman from BB/BCS or Samwell Tarly from GOT/ASOIAF.

How does Maggie let her hatred for Negan get in the way of finding Hershel?
I wouldn’t say Gareth is as morally corrupt as most rank him. And he does have redeeming qualities-Terminus was once a genuine sanctuary for all. They went out of their way to save people, which eventually attracted raping brutalists. Their villain origin story is extremely tragic and actually provides sufficient explanation for how they turned out, unlike characters like Negan who simply lost his spouse then turns into a sadistic raping enslaving dictator. And although it’s disgusting, they kill for a purpose, unlike most of the other villains
