It's an overgeneralization to say weight and conditioning was the primary cause of Shaq's injuries in his Lakers years. He was 300+ pounds and played with a lot of force and power, and that takes a toll on your body, regardless of how good of shape you're in

People can get butthurt over Riley’s demands all they’d like, but a lot of these players seem to forget that they’re paid athletes, and love this sport. It requires some sacrifice for the millions of dollars these people are paying you to do your job.

Then we're adding on that these are PAT RILEY workouts which are notoriously grueling, even by pro-standards.
