Lovely...and very sentimental when the line "bless my homeland forever" is sung. As an American living abroad, I can relate to this song, as it is not an Austrian song but for all of us who are thinking about our homes no matter where they are. I know, right now, I am thinking about it more than usual and hoping I will have a homeland in a few months to think about and bless....and I vote! That's all.

The Sound of Music opened on Broadway in 1959 or 1960. Not 80 years ago.

Rogers & Hammerstein’s first musical was Oklahoma, and it premiered in 1943. Sound of Music was actually their eleventh and last musical.

I watched this broadcast and was concerned about Julian Ovenden’s severely drooping eyebrow. It has to be limiting his vision in his left eye. I hope his health is okay and he gets it taken care of

Aside from some really solid performances from the cast assembled for this tribute, I'll be the first to admit that structurally the show was a mess. Instead of cohesively presenting the songs in the context of the shows for which they were created, they were presented in no discernible order, often not matching the commentary that was presented before the performances. What were they thinking of? Also, if you're going to do "Shall We Dance?", stage it. Don't just throw some tired choreography out there with leads who can barely move gracefully, let alone dance. Also, don't give your best ballads to a cornball like Michael Ball, when you've got Patrick Wilson and Aaron Tveit on the bill.
