Playing through an entire year of GM Mode as Raw vs the computer and winning the General Manager of the year award.
17 years ago, I was visiting my friends house playing this on his PS2 and we played this so much that we both sang the song from the main menu before starting a tag team match.
I rekindled our friendship after not seeing him in years and started reminiscing. Bro didn't remember these days at all. Lowkey hurt me.

This is the best year, but 2007 had the option to cut off injuries, morale, & popularity requirements for trades(after winning a year of GM).

For some reason I enjoy 06 gm mode alot more than 07, and even 08 which is ironic because 08 is super updated. 06 is very challenging and also you don't need to set heels or faces so it's a bit more fun to fantasy book with. I find my self humming every song as well.

The fan support numbers didn’t reflect what was on the graph, people get 16 week injuries from managing a normal match, and the base roster doesn’t constitute 3 mandatory brands with an already downgraded roster. And you couldn’t even cut any injured superstars to save money, you just had to let him collect dust on your roster or let him leave to everlasting free agency because apparently when you’re not on a roster no doctors can help you recover from your injury so if you cut a guy with an 8 week injury he’s pretty much retired because if you come back in 8 weeks his injury status will still be stuck at 8 weeks. he’ll never recover from the injury unless the cpu pick him up (they won’t)

Facts svr 08 I think was the worse it had 0 real life matches for other shows I also didn’t like ecw add on one title cmon

I'm really disappointed he didn't notice jericho was available for summerslam. Could've added him to the ic title match and probably made even more of an impact. It was rough at the start but you really pulled through each week.

Love hearing some of the old strategies I didn't know about back in the day. I wonder if another one for RAW is trying to take Rey, Shawn, RVD, and Ric early so they struggle to build a Cruiserweight division?
Shawn, RVD, & Ric are guys who shouldn't be cruiserweight at all. Shawn & RVD definitely weren't cruiserweight in 2007, I don't remember Ric, & they definitely won't in SvR(original).
@@MrPledgeAllegiance I think they also added light heavyweights because otherwise the cruiserweghts alone stink, like what happened in 07 and 08 where Rey mysterio was the only one who was worthwhile and then it went to like 63 popularity Gregory helms

Otherwise it would be a battle to get the one viable cruiser weight first (Rey mysterio) like in 2007. If Smackdown didn’t get Rey mysterio with the first 2 picks, they’d be stuck with bozos like the Mexicools or Chavo leading that division

@@Cw1047 you say that until you realize that there was 2 other brands, and you needed a bunch of those guys for main events, you couldnt keep em around a cruiserweight division especially because 08 had that contender system like 07

Seeing as it is fitting to mention this on this video, if you ever want a SvR inspired scenario to play in Journey of Wrestling, I have made a 2001 scenario that is available right now to play and a scenario inspired by your Anthology mod that is still in progress. The available scenario is, "Invasion: Genesis of Ruthless Aggression!"
Dang I was probably one of the people would have played a full year. Thinking about it now if you did like 2-3 months every session it wouldn't take that long lol! And I loved making Universe modes and (still enjoy) managing in sports games.

Yeah, I could never beat this GM Mode (except with the 2 controller trick) even though I love it and consider it the best of all the GM Modes. The AI IS SO BROKEN in SVR2006's GM Mode. Even when you think you're doing well, the AI somehow manages to do better shows than you.
What the 2 controller trick
@@mrbonky1098 It's where you plug in 2 controllers and have 1 controller be for one brand and the 2nd controller for the other. Then when you've selected everything, you unplug the 2nd controller so that when you press L2 and R2, you can switch between brands and control both of them yourself
They never get tired no matter how many hell in a cell matches they do and nobody’s ever unhappy despite how many 10 loss streaks happen or titles change hands. But let me put my 2 week minorly injured guy as a manager to keep a rivalry going, that 2 weeks just turned into 16 buddy. Let one if my guys lose 3 times in a row they’re already taking offers to jump ship. And don’t get me started on having 2 upset guys in a title feud. My champ could be happy then I give his upset rival a title shot, then when the title changes hands, they guy who was just the champ a week ago will email me that they’ve apparently been demanding a title shot for over a month, despite being a champ a week ago. I’ll never forget rvd leaving my show immediately after losing the US title

I kinda agree about the rivalries, it doesn't really let you play the way you want. A friend you're playing with could in theory start to do a boring rivalry and all the tricks and beat you because you're messing around and having fun. And in real life people get bored of really long rivalries depending on who it is 😂

The things you dislike about GM Mode are specifically WHY it's so popular. Its kinda like your own little world where you have to manage things. Some things are going to be out of your hands which is really how working as a manager is! Take when Austin took his ball and went home for example. Raw has to adjust that night. Look at how much of a diva HBK was in the 90s, Vince had to deal with that. Look at how many tikes Jeff Hardy dropped the ball with his drug problems. All that random BS along with dealing with injury is what makes it so great. Lots mightve forgotten than HHH missed out on the entire invasion angle due to his quad. You seem to only want to play if it's easy! No one gets hurt, everyone's always happy, the game just lets you skate right through dilemma free. I think the game lets you play that way but only after you beat it fair and square 1st. Im the same way about playing NBA 2K, I love to draft my teams and deal with all that comes with it. Some things are going to feel out of your contol but thats exactly the point.
The thing I learned from SmackDown! 1 & 2's "Create a PPV" is that skipping matches is a horrible idea and will not boost ratings. Doing CPU vs CPU and watching it play out will do better.
I found this mode much easier as smackdown because you don't need any divas and you get a extra title for men. I'd always take trish and stacy for 5 weeks and trade for 2 guys of around same popularity that had 13 week contracts. I used to turn on legends after the draft and sign them to 5 weeks and trade them for raw's high contract main eventers. It used to break their bank and sometimes i could steal them from free agency. I used mostly preset cards and simmed most matches too. Barely got any injuries. Used to release champions and put vacant belt on those guys mad about no title shots.

Tbf your injury problems was because you never let people with minor injuries rest. You’re not supposed to use wrestlers with minor injuries until they’re healed or else you’ll aggravate the injury.
For it’s time, GM mode was unbelievable. For a long time people had been wanting something like it. WWE had tried PPV mode and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one trying to run a full schedule through PPV mode. Season mode hasn’t had events with more than 3 matches and a lot of the time you could only vaguely tell what the other storylines were supposed to be. The other show was almost non existent aside from commentary here and there until your character got to the other brand or near the Royal Rumble. Now you could see the full year’s schedule and each city you’d be in, the other show had ratings, you could play as your CAW and try to become a popular name in WWE while also booking a successful show. It took a while to realize that the match quality was based on the popularity of the wrestlers. 2007 added the B shows Heat and Velocities so you could have newer guys gain OVR experience on those shows before having an OVR decent enough to compete on the main roster. You could get certain superstars merch deals and by 2008 you could basically generate new talent through the week training them and boosting their popularity, managing their health to avoid injuries and there were then 3 brands. I feel if there were a decent amount of CAW spots, the universe could’ve almost sustained itself if the CPU was geared toward it. It would be nice to be able to watch the other shows matches. That’s why I feel that style of GM mode would fit better than what they had recently, because the gameplay is more simulation style these days and the matches are actually watchable. There’s actually match ratings based on the action in the ring and they have a ton of cutscenes they could’ve integrated into the the mode that they’ve been using for universe mode. Universe mode is almost like a cousin to GM mode because that’s what it supplemented when it appeared in 2011. It was a mix of Storyline Designer, Season Mode and GM Mode.

I love when legends are added but you were being unfair, you should have let Smackdown have some others you had 3 Hogan's Rock Austin Bret Bulldog and SD only had Mankind
The ai is unfair anyway so it’s fair game. They never get tired/injured or have any superstars try to leave the show. The least he can do is balance the game to where he gets some advantage

Hi but to put legends in GM mode do I have to unlock them first?
You need to do a full season mode, then you buy the legends with the points you get.

Have all 30 caws and leave out the legends and top guys at draft sign 20 caws for a year or 6 months then trade to other brand once other brand is filled with CAWs or lower card talent then being back top guys and legends then sign em
