- Our smallest home tour yet - a 210-square-foot airstream trailer. See how Sean Swayze and Kent Worth transformed a retro airstream trailer from the 1980s into a perfect weekend getaway. By replacing the floor, painting the walls and adding modern decor, the owners created a stylish, bright interior.
In addition to renovating the inside space, Sean and Kent created an outdoor deck that’s the ideal spot to entertain. Complete with a shed that functions as a guest bedroom, an outdoor living room that overlooks the river, as well as a dining area, the small space has everything they need and more.

This is my idea of living. I may never want to drive or pull something this big down a road but a little holiday house by lake, or pond would be Heaven. That deck and shed cottage are fantastic! I would grow Rosemary an Bay Laurel every where!
I just came across your video and I have to say that this is exactly what I want. I love the brightness and no dark wood and it is so spacious without all the things you do not need, taken out. I have been wanting a tiny house, but at my age now, it is not going to happen, but needed to let you two know how lovely this is and what a great job. The little bunk house is something out of a magazine.
A resourceful use of space and original thinking making for a unique and beautiful living and entertaining space, guys,,,,, I like!!!

We completely renovated our '85 Airstream ourselves as well - inside and out. We tow ours to National parks around the desert southwest since we live in Los Angeles. We absolutely love it! You guys did a great job on yours, and love the setting and space you've created.

Great project! One of the best I've seen so far. Way to use an Airstream, land and a shed structure to create a non-traditional living space that would probably break the bank if built through traditional construction approaches! How did you ensure that restrictive zoning/land use codes, etc. would not get in the way?
yeah, my thought too!
they talk about coming "up" to their retreat so I would assume they are from the GTA (greater Toronto area). Rural codes can be entirely different from city/town codes. Most people in Ontario who go to their "cottages" or retreats do so from the Canadian long weekend in May to Thanksgiving in October. I used to work in real estate in this kind of market. That being said there are probably no restrictions on the Airstream as it is just for seasonal use...accessory buildings (the bunk house) would be restricted in size determined by the district that their property was located in. On my property in Muskoka it was 10'x14'
Guessing, I'd say the land they must own under it conveys the necessary rights to do what you want, regarding municipal codes. They probably spent $5k on a septic tank and tile field, and that much again on a water well. (Drilled) Then they'd need an electrical connection to the grid etc., the decisions about how much to spend, limited by the volumes needed are difficult. Someone has to cut the grass....
Toilettes are what no one wants to talk about. The options are water flush, or compost, or incinerator. The incinerators are probably the best being far more 'hygenic' than people imagine and requiring only a 120 volt, 15 Amp circuit to "incinerate". The units are free standing (easy to install) at about $3000. You'd still have a grey water system but that's a lot easier to deal with, there are more options. For water supply, they should be collecting rain, unless they have a well and pump.
If it was me, I'd also dig a big hole and drop in a pre-cast concrete hurricane shelter, on the highest ground available. That can be used for other things that have to be locked up or weather protected and doesn't have to be underground. Depends on frost.

What do you do during the winter months? Storage & protection from the elements for your outdoor furniture? Also you didn't show the bathroom. What is it like? Do you shower outdoors or have an outhouse?
