As a person who was born in Jerusalem and lived his whole life in Jerusalem, I can say that this is an excellent view of the city. It answers beautifully why Jerusalem is so special. To see Paul (who is an authority for me in the field of baking) enjoys and appreciates the food in Jerusalem made me so happy. Thank you Paul.
I had heard that the food of Jerusalem was extraordinary but this episode showed a far more diverse food scene than I expected. Food is a blessing that crosses all borders and barriers.
Israeli food in general is extremely diverse and very fresh, fruits and veg especially literally only hours from the fields and orchards, and home-made. Processed foods are available, but nearly everyone cooks "from scratch" most of the time. Alas, in recent years a number of American chains like KFC and McDonalds have come here -- and generally don't do well. Starbucks, Wendy's, Carvel, all folded as we found them overpriced and not very good. Jewish immigrants from all over the world bring their ethnic foods with them, and some have become completely identified with Israel's own "cuisine".
shopping and eating in Machane Yehuda is amazing! the sounds, the smells, the people, the noise..., the TASTES! There's a fruit shake shop that is wicked awesome. All kinds of fruit and herb combinations blended :)

Thank you so much for adopting and loving and giving your sweet gorgeous and cute ginger cat a forever loving and a safe home and great loving parent...sending a big hug to you and your cutie cat
Loved this on one Jerusalem and loved all the food.Middle Eastern food is my favorite!!!!I am in LA and we have a good selection but not like there. I have traveled extensively and have always loved all the outdoor markets and hole in wall places where you see a lot of locals eating! I could smell from memory all the spices and flavors you featured.I also really liked you interacting with various cooks and chefs in their own homes.Good One.
One of my favorite LA restaurants with similar cuisine was the Moon of Tunis. Was in this hole in the wall, great bread, Bastilla better than my own, and perfect honey cakes with the mint tea. I still dream of it 35 years later.
Me too! Middle eastern foods hands down! The flavors are so amazing! I love it.
Where are the middle eastern market areas in LA? I will check it out on my next visit.
Paul is amazing... Simply a fantastic show..❤
ThankU… I surely enjoyed your food tour of Jerusalem.
Been in Isreal 2018…bagel with the seasoning’s I enjoyed.
I told my husband recently, “I am homesick…….for Isreal!”
That pasty at 9:00....get in my mouth! *drools*
Wow, what a great experience. I wish we had food like this where I live. Fascinating. And you, dear Paul, have such a wonderful, natural way of interacting with people and you are eye candy too.
Who lived in Israel before 1948, before the people poured in from 60 countries?
Who owned the lands? what was the culture? What was that place called?
Nothing. It never existed. Largely because the Arabs have lost every war they've fought against Israel. Maybe if you could win a war once in awhile that might help.🙄
@@davidkreiselman6786 nice try. its called Palestine, also eerything mentioned in this video belongs to Palestinian cuisine, but u do u ppl. Wonder what r u straling next
It was Caananite, then part of the Ancient Egyptian empire, then part of the Kingdom of Israel, then the Neo-Assyrian empire, then Macedonian, then Seleucid, then Roman, then Byzantine, then a series of caliphates, then Mamluk, Ottoman, British, and finally Israeli.
I have been to jerusalem but it was really nice to see this side of the city . Thanks Paul
"I've found breads I've never seen before...." = coming soon to a GBBO Technical Challenge
👍🏻
I absolutely loved living in jerusalem for a summer. I’ve been twice and the food is amazing. Friday shopping at the shuk mehane yehuda is like nothing I’ve experienced before. Tzfat also has amazing bread.
Paul , I'm a big fan .... Keep them coming ... Jim from Chicago ... I love the Brits ....
Gosh! I feel like traveling all the way to Jerusalem just to try those dishes.
Fantastic vídeo!loved it!What a beautiful city, Jerusalem 🙂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😚
I love seeing the humility shown by Paul Hollywood in the presence of all these great chefs. You don't get to see that in the Great British Baking Show. kudos to Paul.
P.s...I hope these cafes and bakeries are compensated for all the food he eats 😂😂
This video was a visual feast! I would love to make that pomegranate almond loaf! I am going to try to find the recipe! All of the food looked amazing!
I love this, and would love to see more like this of Paul traveling. This made me want to go to Jerusalem and taste the myriad flavors.
