    Being handicapped I was very happy to get a warning about how long the walk is to B gate.

    I use to work at the old airport. I remember it was always the people who showed up 10 minutes before their flight left that complained the most. Like maybe show up earlier so you wouldn't be in such a rush. Don't blame the employee because you couldn't see your alarm.

      I've flown out of the new SLC Airport many times and I always make plans to arrive at the airport 2 hours before my flight time. Sometimes I get through security quick and have to wait in the terminals for an hour, but it's better than having to run to the gate. I also take Trax, so I leave my house an extra hour early (3 hours before flight departure).

      Dude yes!! I used to work as wheelchair assistance at the SLC airport and the amount of people who would get mad at us bc they were running late to their plane and that they had to wait for someone to come and pick them up was absurd. Luckily i was used to the walk so I was able to wheel her in under 5 mins thru the tunnel. Still though it could've been avoided.

    Typical, Americans complaining about walking, nothing new. Also, why do people expect big airports to be short walks?? Like you have to park 100 tonnes machines that flies into the sky, one next to the other, will obviously need a lot of space

    I don't get all the complaining about the new airport - it's nice, designed to run efficiently (old layout had dead-ends for jets, meaning it took longer to get in/out) and it has nice amenities. There are some odd items in this one, specifically how international flights arrive/check/customs but it's not a major international stop so leave that to LAX and JFK.

    People like to complain. People need to walk more anyway.

  • @henryalvarez4146
    @henryalvarez4146 2 года назад +2

    Honestly, the older design was more efficient for the paying customers. The road followed along the length of the terminals putting the work on cars and not on our legs. But even at that, I don't remember any gate being more than a 5 minute walk from the end of security check points.

    I heard a rumor that the airport is 2' shorter than the required distance to have a train. They fell short on purpose $$$. Love how they try to compare so as to try and make it seem easier. Lousy.

    • @JuanWayTrips
      @JuanWayTrips 2 года назад +1

      There's no legal requirement for any airport to have a train, so your rumor is false. There's no reason fo them to build the train until a 3rd Concourse C is built, and even then the walk between the A and B gates is comparable to most airports. The people of Salt Lake City are just lazy.

      maybe .25 miles (short)
      typically start to see trams when a tunnel is a half a mile.

    Other airports have trams. The lack of signs and trying to catch Lyft or Uber is tough when you're trying to figure out which bridge to take to get outside. It's a struggle for the elderly. It needs work and more signs.

    Really the report could have focused less on comparison and more on what SLC has received for it's money. After all that has been spent and will be spent, Utahans don't care about other airports, we want ours to be wise, frugal and designed well. Maybe you could have shown a video of Grandma trying to drag her carry on and her purse all that way. Or how about the guy I saw with a cane trying to make his flight? The family dragging 4 kids and the carseat! This is an airport not a gym membership!
