Thank you! 🥰
As always, fantastic content!
Great video! Congrats on the awards ... they're so well deserved. Looking forward to the new arrivals.
I really enjoy your videos, they are so entertaining and informative. Maxine is so passionate about the zoo, and these videos are great and a breathe of fresh air. Well done on the awards, thoroughly deserved and great to see you leading the way in sustainability. This is something every company should be doing. Well Done.
Wow!! Congratulations 🎉 You deserve the awards - huge pat on the back for everyone. It's so encouraging to see all the thought put into the work you do.
Thank you for sharing about the sea otters - they're so cute.
It's always interesting to go to other collections and see different species and ideas for enclosures etc!! Zoo tours have been a thing for me - surprisingly!!!
I'm sorry to hear about the cricket problem. I hope you can resolve it soon.
Very excited to visit the zoo and see all the changes and developments sometime before too long 😊❤
Bloody WELL DONE to you and your zooies 👏👏👏 i can't believe how quick this came around. Most well deserved to a great team... things like this don't just happen, you work really hard 🫶
Well done and very well deserved
Huge congratulations 🎉
Congratulations to you all I am so excited to see the new additions x
I love a long video so no problems here! Congratulations on the awards and the new arrivals…!
Congratulations on your awards. Very well deserved 👏👏👏 Those Sea Otters are the cutest, they melt your heart. Really excited about the new species ❤
Congratulations on your well-deserved awards! And as a book lover myself, being able to hold a first edition of The Origin of Species must have been so cool! (PS - I'm a book sniffer too, LOL).
Haha yes, that was pretty epic. A good one for World Book Day 😎
Well done winning and getting the bronze
I thought the cricket noise in there was a 🔊 speaker hahaha x
Hi Maxine,
Congratulations to all at the Zoo on the Bronze and the big win. You all deserve these awards for all of the hard work that you put into your Zoo.
The vlog was very interesting this week. . Not only telling us about the new species you will be getting but explaining the differences between various species. I do hope you have the new section open by the time we visit in May. It was also interesting to see the sea otters
when you visited Sealife Birmingham. Though I do think it would be more than a big ask to have them at the Zoo. Perhaps if you were nearer to the sea...............but never mind you still have lots to see . Good luck with sorting out the problem with the crickets.
Looking forward to ext week's vlog.
Congratulations to you all all the hard work paid off brilliant video this week will u be doing an arrival video when the new species arrive that would be great 👍
I remember the first few times I went in the hot house I thought you had a surround sound until I was told lol!
I did notice last few visits the sound was in the curious creatures but I just assumed you fed them out to different species.
Hope it gets sorted soon!
Massive congratulations again, well deserved!
Sea otters still possible then! 😂
Wow some of the pictures/drawings in the early books are kinda scary!
Wow there is so many terms in zoo life!
At least you can have the breed and learn more about them and gain experience before you hopefully get to breed them.
Can't wait to see the new species when it's open :)
Will have to look at zoo life events :)
Haha that was the most realistic surround sound. Thanks so much for the congrats, I got your emails too. We were so surprised! 🫣
@@NorthumberlandZoo I was going to post saying congratulations but I wanted to give you chance to announce it first so decided to email instead!
I'm so proud for you all! You so deserve it! Here's to many more awards🥂

Thank you so much simon! 🙌🏻
Been looking forword to this video all week. ☺. Do u think the old parrot house will be open by 15th April? We're coming over from Lancashire just to see your zoo. Booked a travelogue the night before so can have max time. ☺
Congratulations on the awards. When I saw 'Cricket Mayhem' I thought you'd taught the Raccoons to play cricket. Sorry, I'll get my coat.
Don’t forget your hat as well…
😂👍🏻
Fantastic news about the awards! Well done everyone it’s completely deserved.
Just wondering, which collections are the new monkeys coming from?
Congratulations that's fab...
Ooohhh can't wait to see the new animals...
Is the raven okay when we visited on monday the raven wasnt in the enclosure so i hope its okay????
I imagine that the species you're allowed to breed is based partly on its conservation status and partly on how rare they are within zoos (at least locally). Then again you guys bred Livingstone's fruit bats and they're not only Critically Endangered but also only found in 2 other zoos. That said, I'm definitely not on the EAZA board (I'm going to uni to study zoology next year)
Very excited to see who will be joining the pygmy marmosets and Goeldi's monkeys!
It is a weird one! I forgot to mention the bats in my video as they are an exception as well!! Zoo world is weird at times 🤷🏻♀️
I don't think having the crickets outside in the cold, would be good enough to kill them. Here in Canada we get crickets as well. Our winter temperatures go well below freezing every year, and they're back every year
Are Pygmys and Goeldi's often exhibited together in zoos? Since they are both small monkeys do they get enrichment from each others company or are they more "live and let live" sort of interspecies interaction- which are you expecting is more likely to occur? Also would it be safe to assume the ground dwelling species is also from South America?
That’s a great question! So much thought, consideration and consultation has taken place pulling on past experiences as well as the current callatrichid species committee and the individual studbook keepers who know their species best!
The mix we have chosen has been success in numerous zoos and they are known for their calmer and less dominating natures. For example, there is no way we would mix in squirrel monkeys, capuchins or cotton-top tamarins - they do not mix with other species due to their natural behaviours.
As with all animals, it’s down to individuals, so we do have alternative holding and the ability to change the species mix in this building if it isn’t working. The indoor space is huge, so we are hoping that they interact with each other but also glad they have the space to get away from each other too if they choose! Yes you are correct, all these species are South American 🤓
Will the common marmosets from the hot house be joining in the monkey business in the parrot House?
Great question - those 3 boys moved away from us when were developing Curious Creatures last year, they have moved onto a new home at Hobbledown, down south and they are doing well. As we move forward, we are looking to keep more species that are involved in studbooks for breeding programmes 😊
Fantastic video and updates. You give an amazing insight behind the scenes 🫶
Congrats on your awards. Amazing❤
Never say never…. 🦦🦦🦦🥰
Can’t wait for the hothouse development to be open!!! 😃
