    Hey there, rice lovers! 👋
Are you tired of ending up with mushy or undercooked brown rice? 😩 Don't worry, we've got you covered! In this video, we're going to show you the perfect way to cook brown rice in a rice cooker. 🍚👨‍🍳
First things first, make sure you have a good quality rice cooker. A cheap one may not be able to cook brown rice properly. Then, measure out your desired amount of brown rice and rinse it thoroughly in cold water. This helps to remove excess starch and debris. 💦
Next, add the rinsed rice to your rice cooker along with the appropriate amount of water. The ratio of water to rice is typically 2:1, but always check the instructions on your particular brand of rice. 🧐
Now comes the most important step: let the rice soak for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This step allows the rice to absorb some of the water and results in a much better texture. Trust us, it's worth the wait! ⏰
After the soaking time is up, turn on your rice cooker and let it do its magic. Once the rice is cooked, let it sit for a few minutes before fluffing it with a fork. This helps to release any excess steam and ensures that the rice is fluffy and not too sticky. 🍚🍴
And that's it! You now have perfectly cooked brown rice that is fluffy and full of flavor. 🎉👨‍🍳 So go ahead and pair it with your favorite protein, vegetables, or sauces for a healthy and delicious meal. 😋
Thanks for watching, and happy cooking! 🍚👨‍🍳🎉

Thank you for this clear presentation. I tried cooking brown rice in my rice cooker and it came out with the consistency of oatmeal. I should have watched this video first. 😄

Do you need to drain the water after you soak the rice for 30 min? Or is it completely absorbed by that time?

It's partially absorbed but I just guess how much is in the pan and subtract that amount from the two cups.

0:00 Step 1: Spill the rice all over the place.

What’s the salt and olive oil for?

      Hi,
Salt and olive oil/sesame oil are not must-have ingredients for cooking brown rice, but they are beneficial. Salt enhances the flavor, and oil improves the texture by preventing the grains from sticking together, adding richness to the dish. While optional, using them can elevate the overall quality of the rice.
I hope this is helpful for you.

I don't think a rice cooker would suit my needs. Soak time 30mins plus cook time 45mins makes 75mins, whereas I can cook brown rice stovetop for 50mins without soaking. I do wash it, though.

I never use salt and just a splash of olive oil.
