Tarot Junk /art journal “Wheel of Fortune”
She is approximately 24 x 16,5 x 5,5 cm. (9,5 x 6.5 x 1.8 inch)
If you are just like me fascinated by Tarot, this journal is perfect for creating your own guide book, to record and reflect upon the cards you pull.
The journal has a trifold fabric softcover. On the outside colorful velvet and upholstery fabric and on the inside black cotton fabric. A black cotton strap that wraps around the journal as a closure is attached to the front cover with a metal filigree piece on upholstery fabric. I added some filigree metal embellishments on the corners and on the strap of the closure, hand stitched with embroidery floss, a metal nameplate, and a metal button (the strap of the closure wraps around the button). On the spine is attached a removable metal “Wheel of Fortune card” charm dangle.
It has in total 110 pages (5 signatures). 2 signatures have a linen sheet as a signature cover which is left blank on the inside for you to create your artwork of for example one of your favorite cards, which helps you even better to understand the meaning of that card. The pages are coffee dyed paper, vellum, coloring book pages and vintage glassine dyed with coffee, rust water and inks. Fabric tabs with an eyelet and a letter charm (P, C, S, W) on a bulb pin to make it easy to find the sections of the four suits.
For the first 3 signatures I used my Tarot digitals. You will find a short explanation of the Tarot (Major Arcana and Minor Arcana), and a quick and easier way of beginning to understand the meaning of the cards by the energies they represent according to their numerology link, element, and astrological energy. I added cheat sheets with key words of the meanings of each card. Each card has its own page with the card number, corresponding element, astrological association, keywords for the upright and reversed meaning and lots of space to write down your own unique interpretations of the card. Also each page has a sticker with the image of the Rider Waite Smith tarot card. The other 2 signatures have lined pages for journaling.
The journal has a large pocket on the inside of the front and the back cover. There is lots of space for journaling. Throughout the journal there are many belly bands, pockets, flip up envelope pockets with journaling cards for extra writing space and vintage ephemera. The vintage glassine pages, pockets and belly bands are embellished with book pages from an antique German poetry book. The edges of the pages are distressed with coffee and inks. Hand stamping and stenciling throughout the journal.
