If the premise of your video is how to professionally paint a motorcycle with a can, perhaps it would have been instructive to actually show the painting with a can.
Yes, the problem is that over spray kills my camera lenses. I can afford to buy a new o e every time I want to film painting a part. If you are willing to lend me your camera for that purpose I'd be more than happy to film the whole process.
Overspray kills my camera lense...benn there done that and needed new camera. Can't afford to buy new camera everytime I spray... Unless you willing to lend me one, then I can fil it :)
budget doesn't always mean rattle cans, I have found that rattle cans are actually more expensive than buying paint by the quart and spraying with a gun. For that same amount of money you can buy paint by the quarts and spray more than one project with it, Sand paper and masking tape are your actual biggest expenses!
My paint keeps doing the wrinkle thing every time I put clear on it. Maby you can help please. I'm using all same brand paint. I use water and soap to sand and then all looks good. I put the clear on when it dry and then it all starts to wrinkle and shrink. I put hard work in my job and it gets ruined by clear. Again all paint and clear is the same brand.
You don't let it cure completely, so the solvent in the clear attacking the paint and reaction happens. Either leave it for couple of weeks, or use 2k clear
Not quite sure what else I could show? How to shoot with a spray can? I guess that was missed out...but I never show it as overspray ruins my camera lens... Done it before :(

leather is good so you don't get your skin de-gloved if you crash, I don't wear a jacket only cuz I can't afford one cuz there like $400- $500 bucks but if I could afford one I'd wear one.
Great looking job Mackie. A couple additional tips for those wanting to do this 1.) Be careful to ensure the primer, guide coat, and top coat are compatible. You can't for instance use a lacquer top coat over an alkyd resin (enamel) guide coat. The lacquer may bubble the guide coat in that case. 2.) There are 2-pack rattle cans available. They have two compartments. Press a button on the can and the catalyst mixes with the paint. The can then has a pot life.

It may have been acceptable to display that flag and deny its origins but i think that time has past. when you spray in the garage right there with all the other gear, bikes, tools etc, what steps do you take to minimise problems from over spray? I caught a glimpse of some covers on bikes in the background there a bit, but is there anything else you do? Oh, and what about ventilation?
Yeah I cover everything up. Overspray is a killer! I've got an extractor fan kicking in the backgroung for the small jobs. For teh bigger ones I got a use of a spray booth - not mine, but I can use it :)
The best clear coat that you can use is the "OH MY" 2k clear from BuyCustomPaint.com . Great video, you gave me the confidence to give it a shot with my Yamaha RS Warrior. Only thing is, it has a dent right on the front right corner. I'm not sure how I can match the roundness with filler 🤔
Its not a good idea to just fill dents with filler. Your best bet is to borrow or rent a stud gun and weld some studs in the dent and use a slide hammer to pull as much of the dent as possible. Then you apply a nice thin coat of filler. That is how the professionals do it.
Very nice job.. I’ve got pretty good with spray paint over the years. Plan to try the two part 2k clear in the can. Looks like a great product, just cost $20 a can.
Thanks Mackie. More or less what I want to do with my Bandit tank. There might be two problems though. The bike is an import so it's not a UK colour but Hammerite smooth dark green is a match. Sorry tp hear that man, prep is the key.
I did prep, it was the last coat from a different brand and it wrinkled. Had to sand it down again and do over but it was never right.
Yes, different kind of paint most likely...or the underlayer wasn't cured enough - patience is the key here. If you're not in any rush leave the paint to cure of a few days if unsure. I've done the same mistake again - heartbreaking.
Looks good thank you !
No problem!
Do you use semi gloss or flat?
What's that? Paint or clear? Both gloss.
That answers that haha... rusto has flat, semi gloss, and gloss paint
Nice job
