Monduran barra fishing: My first impoundment barra

  • Spent the weekend up at Monduran dam chasing impoundment barra for the first time, was a really hard bite but we did manage a couple legal fish over the weekend. I land my first impoundment barra on the last morning of fishing which was a nice little achievement. Definitely would like to go back up for the challenge and hopefully land a swamp donkey some time. Enjoy the vid!
    Gear used
    Rod : Samaki Skitch X 10-20lb
    Reel : Daiwa Z Deps edition 2020
    Line : 50lb leader, 30lb braid
    Lures : Zman 4 inch minnowz got the fish in Bad shad 4/0 snake lockz jig head
    Conditions
    Boat traffic : Low
    Wind : 15knots North east/east
    Moon : Waning cresent

    Hey Matty, did you go on the charter to learn the right technique to target impoundment. If so, it sounds like it was worth the investment. I have caught salt water Barre before but where you are looks very relaxed, I will have to try it some day. Great video, thanks.

      Yeah the charter was worth the money we got put on the fish and learnt all the go for targeting monduran barra. Rob who runs the park does the charters and he's a great guy. It's a lot harder then saltwater Barra but we had a slow bite...
