3:10 Tip: If you get a pipe wrench and weld a piece of rebar to the top of it, it will give you two handles for much better control and a lot easier to twist cable.

If you want the look but need a better edge once you have hammered out the cable flat fold it length ways in to a long U and insert a 1/16" bar of your favorite edge steel in the U and fordge flat . This works particularly nice with s.s.cable and a carbon edge .

Thanks for this very instructive video! Some of the questions you answered hadn't even occurred to me yet, but I do believe the way you handled the untwisting prior to forge welding is the way to go. I think the etch came out beautifully, and I wonder what a coffee etch would have looked like after the ferric.

You can also just weld both ends, heat it up and then pounded on the floor endfirst and it'll open itself up and all the crap will come flying out. Then flux and retwist.🔥🛠🔪👍✌

Their abrasives are pretty great. I hadn't heard of them either until I got a belt grinder that came with an assortment of their belts. Ive been using the same belt for what seems like forever. Maybe a year or more now. However I dont make knives but I use it to sharpen different blades and general uses.
