Soapy Smith is a historical person, Jefferson Randolph Smith II. Wikipedia has an article. He ran a prize soap racket. Some of the soap would have large prize money and the soap was wrapped in paper; so, people would buy hoping to get a large bill
"I know yall dont have 5 hours" gurl I would eat up a 5+ hour video about a book I will never read. Seriously love the work will be on the look out for you next uploads!
That description of Ms. Janeel was so specific, but so hilarious and accurate. The female lead on the book looking like Ferrero Roche. Hilarious but accurate. A naive, blonde almost child alone? Yea... recipe for disaster
I love the way you recap these books. You make the characters real, you make us friends just shit talking about how stupid they are. These videos are gold!
The description the artist probably got for the cover was "takes place in Alaska during the klondike gold rush. Tall dark handsome dude, waiting little blonde woman" the the artist probably said "alright, ive read call of the wild. Theres gotta be dog sledding
I am SO here for part two. I haven't finished part one yet so I'm going to go do that first and then watch this video but I just wanted to comment for the algorithm because this series is so much fun. Thanks for the awesome content and for all your hard work in making it! 🙂
If we choose the bear was a person, it would be this book. A 30 yr old grown @$$ man with a teen hit a bit too close to home. Not a personal experience, but I've heard way too many stories recently. And he was so incredibly immature. I desperately want to read the other book. This one sounds completely horrid. But, again amazing story telling.
I will absolutely watch a 5 hour video giving every little detail of the story lol (all though I did appreciate how you kind of did a fade-to black thing with the “adult” scenes in your first vid).
Ya know, when I was watching part one I thought to myself “oh if you adjust one or two things here and there you got yourself a banger WEBTOON!” But this book feels like it needs a whole different platform to contain it!
Loved it! Can you do videos on Scottish Highlanders romances. Not Outlander, but there are some trashy ones on the market written in early 90s where there's romance between a city girl and Scottish Highlanders.
@@aykha7090 o yea I’ve seen so many, it’s quite the popular trope. I’ve got my September - December books picked but a Scottish one would be great for winter. It is definitely on my calendar!

Lol when you said "A Second & Charles in Shreveport" i knew immediately that the next book would be a wild ride. Those folks up there are realllll froggy over their 80s smut books 😂 can't wait to see your review of it! Also, rare louisiana mention!
me seeing this video pop up on my feed: huh never seen a video like this before. let's add it to the queue me 2 hours in as we wrap up: god what the hell. she shoulda left his ass behind. girl you deserve so much better
God this is one of the first book reviews where the book got me SO confused. This plot really is just insane. Especially for what you'd expect? I really just wanted her to be on her own, seriously
I think it’s so funny that I’ve been seeing so many young women reading these novels 😅. Back in the 80s and 90s (my 20s & 30s) I was all over these books 🤭 the only one that sticks in my mind is Taming Charlotte By Linda Lael Miller. For some reason this is the book I think of when I watch these types of videos. I’m waiting to open a video and see someone commenting about it 🤞🏻
We need to bring back Fabio on all these bodice rippers. These Disney-esque illustrations are SO misleading. If you’re going to read smut don’t be ashamed😂
I'm so grateful for this channel. I'm half-way through Desert Captive and Viking Flame. THEY ARE SO GOOD!! I can I wouldn’t like Golden Torment. The male love interest sounds really unlikable, unlike Sharif and Brander (he’s in the Viking book I’m reading).
I enjoyed this so much. I love 80s trashy novels.❤🎉 Please read/review two novels by Jude Devereux they are sold separately and as a one book collection. Twin of Fire 🔥 Twin of Ice 🧊 . I bet you would love this. It’s about twin sisters who live completely different lives in the same town and things get messy. 🎉🎉🎉
Soapy Smith is a real historical figure who used to sell prize soap (soap with a prize inside of it), but he would have people who worked with him buy the actual soap with the prize in it to trick people to keep buying this soap with a supposed prize inside.
More nuanced comment: I loved this video, you did so much work for this video, putting together all of it! This story was crazy! But also enjoyable, at least when narrated by you. 😂
@@laurie9041 thank you so much 🌸 and yea, I have a feeling not all of these books are gonna have the best cast of characters. Shariff really set the bar high lol
I dont know. Living in S. Korea the general consensus is that men shouldnt show emotions...ever. Confusious is a huge influence here and an angry outburst is a sign of weakness. That is why in dramas the father figures only lash out if someone is in danger. It is actually pretty toxic for men here.
I haven't finishes the video yet and I'm not familiar with internet slang, but this girl sounds a lot like a pickme to me. Hope she learns and grows up along the book. Although I'm not hopeful she'll end up with another character.
@@gailburnette awe thanks. I actually am working through a dye job mishap and am not too confident in this temporary dark auburn color, but I don’t feel too bad now.

My mom used to steal these from my Gramma as a teenager. Now she writes bodice rippers in the 80s style.
