Samara Elán Huggins is a poet and fiber artist who explores how text interacts and reacts with the body. She examines how we read, don’t read, and misread language; and how we dissolve, disseminate, and dissipate stories. Samara embeds language into hidden or undisclosed parts of handmade quilts, tapestries, and garments constructed from fabric objects from the women in her family. She and her family collectively weave, knit, embroider, dye, and stitch stories of ancestry, ecology, grief, and healing.
