Unanswered Questions in The Walking Dead

  • Now that The Walking Dead is officially over and we got a pretty satisfactory conclusion for the most part, I couldn’t help but think about all the questions we’re still left with. There’s quite a few things even from just season 11 that weren’t answered, but across multiple different seasons that we just never got any on-screen answers to.

      Did he though? I mean, that arc took basically seasons to complete as opposed to other characters whose arcs began and ended in 3 or less in the early seasons. Gabriel didn't even really have anything to do until season 8 and he didn't become a badass until season 10. And if they hadn't done that coming full circle thing with him opening the gates to let people in, would you still say it was the most complete character arc? So many side characters in TWD don't even have arcs, they reach a certain point and then just plateau

    Carol hands down had the best ark of the entire series. She went from a defenseless DV victim to one of if not the most capable characters in the entire show. Having to kill one of her daughters was soooooo crazy and a huge defining moment for her. She was my favorite for a most of the middle of the series when she was cutthroat. But later on they started to regress her character a little and it kind of bothered me. But overall she was incredible.

    • @Katastrophe9009
      @Katastrophe9009 8 месяцев назад +13

      I don't think it was regression, it was growth. She was still just as ruthless and capable of handling shit if she needed to, but she had learned restraint from her past experiences pursuing vengeance always ending in more people getting hurt/killed. She'd still shoot/stab/kill anyone who was a threat to her or her group without hesitation if need be, but she learned that killing should ultimately be a last ditch effort. She actively tries to prevent other characters in the show from going down a similar path after she nearly gets Connie killed. Yet still, a badass. Easily the best arc in the show.

Stuff like this kinda makes civilization collapsing after a few months Rick woke up makes sense because of how threatening they were.
      But yeah to explain why the main group was shocked seeing those variant walkers could just be because they never went to certain areas like the city in Atlanta. Everyone in the group that went to the city besides Rick and Daryl died. The Walking Dead is not really "over" they are just doing the 12th season split into spin offs, because of streaming rights. Netflix owns the rights to each season, now they would have to renew contracts if they want to stream the 3 spin off series. It's brilliant, really. That scene was really good. I like that they took time to develop his arc separately from Maggie and when they’re finally in each others lives you have to sit with the complexity of the relationship as a viewer. You went negan dead for Maggie’s sake but you know more about him now which makes him harder to unanimously hate. When Maggie finally comes up to him to address forgiving him, her final monologue holds the dynamism that the viewer has been forced to for a few seasons now. It was brilliantly said as well. My theory on the variants:
    The virus that reanimates the dead works alot like the flood from halo and also like a fungus. I say flood from halo because we've really only seen the variant walkers in big groups. The more walkers lumped together, the more virus is concentrated. Allowing it to communicate with itself and slowly get smarter. Like how in Halo, small out break of flood is bad but what ever, it can be dealt with. A big one however? They've made a graveminde and are now coordinating strikes and tactics. I say fungus as well because that could explain why gutting up allows you to walk with the dead. The sent from the rotted or dead flesh, blood and bile is emiting the "spors" or just super soaks you with the virus the hoard mind can't tell them apart.

    For the variant zombie reasoning why we didn’t see it most seasons : the virus is fighting itself , although it was innate inside our bodies as soon as it woke up it started to try and change itself , but the “variant” wasn’t strong enough to take over (and the original strain won) until season 10 again where it might fail to take hold again .
    This is how real viruses operate and as long as we aren’t assuming the zombie disease is supernatural , we could easily assume the variant virus isn’t strong enough to present itself in a lot of infected , so in the beginning at Atlanta we see a small surge of variants but that strain of virus was wiped out by the original strain , until now (again).
    So if the variant can take hold and mutate the original virus into creating all zombies into tool using climbing zombies , it would likely never regress to the original virus unless we vaccinated the hell out of it .

    • @lxb4280
      @lxb4280 Год назад +4

      To add to this. The variants might be among the huge hordes. And are most likely the ones "spared" when human survivors leave cuz the horde is to big.
      They are suppose to be "intellegent" with the use of tools and grabbing weapons to survive. And with all the clearing out of random zombie stranglers. We see them more an more.
      We dont get more variants per say. They are just the ones left. If that makes sense.
      I also think they degrade slower than the normal walkers. So we will end up with regular walkers decaying and the variants staying "fresher"

      Nah Dave and Tony had nothing to do with the Death of Morales family.
      I got a much more plausible Headcanon for Randall's group through.
      Randall said that his group was about 30-is men strong, heavily armed, rap8nf and murdering.....what if: Randall original was a member of the group that later attacked Terminus?
      You know, the group that attacked Terminus (the one we saw in the flashbacks in S5) that later got put in the Containers..
      That group exactly was what Randall was talking about.
      We possibly never get an answer to that but I like to believe that this group was Randall's group, found their way to Terminus, took the place over and than the Terminus People fought back

The story in the comics and since season 1 has always been about Rick and his family, like the silent narrator of the show. For all 11 seasons and incoming spin offs, for everything Rick has been through, he deserves to find his family again, Judith and RJ deserve it and we the viewers who have stayed with this show for 11 seasons, with all the great and stupid parts, we deserve that resolution at the end, however we get there and if only its for the final few minutes of the final episode........we need it........

    My guess for the sudden appearance of the Variants, is that they are regional Variants, which explains how the were known by the the researchers in france but not to the cdc, and their "sudden" appearance is explained through the migration of walker hordes, which drove Variants away from their point of origin and slowly diffused them into the larger walker population but also spread them to new locations.

    I don't think they meant ALL the zombies in ATL were variants. I took that to mean the ones we saw bashing windows with rocks or climbing fences or turning doorknobs even. They did see a few but again, with respect to the story and lore they didn't think much of it cuz it was all new back then. Anyway I hope we see a few characters again, Aaron for one, they could do a lot more with that character I think, he's one of the better characters that got the shaft there a bit in the end.

    No theory, but I would absolutely adore some moment in the Rick and Michonne spin-off where Michonne tells him about how much Judith has grown and matured despite still being young. My second hope is far fetched but I hope nonetheless that at some point they find Judith again, possibly when she's older, maybe a teenager, and it's this light shining behind her as she's seen after all this time moment. While dramatic and far fetched, I like the idea of a moment like that for Rick and Michonne to share.

    "Fear the walking dead is still years behind the walking dead in universe time" I actually think that's the perfect reasoning to have Georgie to show back up. We know that season 4 of fear is at the same time as the first half of season 9 of the walking dead as Morgan leaves right after Negan is defeated. And fear jumps ahead in time a lot more than the walking dead does so while I don't think we'll see her again it definitely is possible given the timelines.

    'how did they shut down EVERY path, so completely?'
    You can't allocate those kinds of resources, on a 'hunch'.
    SOMEONE told the Saviors when and where the Survivors were going.
    It's kind of insulting that they never revealed that.
    It's a glaring loose end.

And put them in an impossible situation forced to work together to survive, using each unique skill. The infighting and philosophy difference of each "villian" group would be interesting specially on that they are random members.

It all happened within the same day/night most likely since the next day is when Carl is shot and they find the farm not knowing that Sophia was already a walker inside the barn next door, and that’s why everyone was so defeated when they found her already dead because they all wasted their time finding a little girl somewhere in the woods when she was right next to where they were staying the whole time
