Jews that were exiled from Spain.
Some went to Turkey, Greece, some went to North Africa, and some to the Arab countries.
      My family went to Turkey.

And from Portugal as well as Spain came many sephardi refugees. My ancestors though most refugees from Spain other relatives were sephardi refugees from Portugal.Sepharad means Iberia in Hebrew. This music is mostly of our people that fled to north africa and the middle east by the sound of it.I grew up in Salonika/Thessaloniki , greece. It had for hundreds of years untill 1912 been part of the Ottoman Empire , I was born in 1949.
