This was one of my favorite scary movies back when it came out. I always thought people didn’t give it enough credit for how scary it was and how good the performances were.
It was extra creepy because at first you think the spirit is trying to harm her. But then even when you realize the spirit wants her help, it’s still creepy because Claire is putting herself in danger to help.
This is one of my favorites. Michele Pfeiffer is amazing in it. She conveys so much without saying a word. The scene when she slips in and out of being Madison Frank is exceptional.
I happen to agree with you. Michelle Pfeiffer is really, really good. And I am not embarrassed to admit it. And it was interesting to see Harrison Ford make the transition from likeable to unlikeable in the movie. And Michelle Pfeiffer's best friend is pretty cool. The ending is really beautifully filmed. Yes, as one can see, I love this movie....with no embarrassment, just enjoyment.
Her character is also obnoxious. The movie succeeded in conveying how a spiteful woman will not accept a breakup and then gets killed because of her threats to ruin his career and marrige. Had she just accepted the breakup and walked away like an adult, she'd be alive. (Never mess with a man who has everything to lose, was a lesson she never learned until too late.) Then she haunts her former lover's wife and drives her insane to the point she is willing to ruin his life too. Ford is so great in this film that it's hard to feel hatred towards him. He is surrounded by women that are vengeful and full of spite. I rarely root for the "bad guy" but in this I did.
I agree as well. I am not embarrassed either. I enjoy all of the performances in the movie and really enjoy the movie overall...it is a great thriller. Yes, I said that, and it is my opinion, but I am happy to support that opinion as well.
I love this movie. That scene with Michelle Pfeiffer and her eyes colour changing is amazing! And the fusion of the past/present in this scene is well done. The fact that Harrison Ford becomes the surprise villain is well done too. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.
I’m so happy to see this film get some love that it definitely deserves. It’s one of my absolute favorites! There are some absolutely chilling moments in this movie, and I can’t believe it isn’t appreciated more!🙌❤️
@kathywhite9411-Totally agree with your comment. I saw What Lies Beneath as a kid when it came out, & i always thought it was a really good movie. It's a real shame not many people talk about it now. Some other scary movies from the late 90s/early 2000s that I think were also criminally underrated were The Gift & Stir Of Echoes.
This was the first movie I ever saw at a drive-in, and I’ve loved it ever since. Underrated doesn’t even begin to describe, this thing has basically been forgotten and it breaks my heart. Michelle Pfeiffer gives one of her best performances, and how daunting it just have been to be in virtually every scene of the movie.
I'll be damned. I've suggested people review this movie for years and you're the first one that's actually done it. It's a fun movie that's incredibly shot. Claire's car accident happened because she walked in on Madison and Norman. She ran off upset, crashed the car and got retrograde amnesia that made her forget what she saw. And after Madison possesses her in the "I think she's she's starting to suspect something" scene, Claire remembers after Norman pushes her off of him and she drops the braid. I always loved at the end, when Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer) is leaving the graveyard, as the camera pans out you see Madison's face in the snow. It was more noticeable on the VHS than it is on the DVD but if you know when and where to look you can see it I saw this movie at the drive in in 2000 with my dad, partly anyway. The projector broke during the final fight. The drive in did offer to let everyone come back the next night to finish it without paying again, but we were on vacation and were leaving the next day. I was 10 or 11 at the time. After it came out on VHS my dad bought it and we were able to see it from start to finish.
I was working at a Blockbuster Video when this came out. I was looking forward to seeing it SO MUCH. Robert Zemeckis was one of my favourite directors, and Harrison Ford was easily my favourite actor. Also, I was DYING to see a horror movie that wasn’t going to be another annoying teenage slasher flick. Well, my coworker at the time was starting to shape up to be a pretty decent guy to work with, so I asked him if he wanted to see it with me on opening weekend. Apparently, he somehow learned about the ending, AND SPOILED IT FOR ME RIGHT THERE! I remember being in absolute shock. I just stared at him for a couple of seconds, and walked away. Dude… you work in a video store… and you broke the #1 rule of movie watching… DON’T RUIN THE ENDING!! Even though we worked with each other almost every day, I didn’t speak to him for about two weeks. Anyway, I went to see the movie with an actual friend, and even though I already knew the ending, that didn’t stop me from gripping my armrest, and tensing up at a few scenes! I still love this movie! Not many horror/supernatural thrillers can give me the shivers like “What Lies Beneath”!
My flat-mate spoiled the ending of Sixth Sense for me when I was about to go and see it. Despite that it remains one of my favourite ever movies. He wasn't my flat-mate for much longer after that. Cos I killed him. 🙃🤣
You know what? I have to admit… I accidentally spoiled a surprise in a movie for someone once. 😓 It was spring 1999. “The Phantom Menace” was a few weeks away from hitting theatres. My girlfriend at the time told me that she had never seen a “Star Wars” movie before! She said that she already knew about Vader being Luke’s father, so we decided to binge the Original Trilogy to catch her up. 😁 She loved the first two, and had all kinds of questions while I was putting “Return of the Jedi” in the VCR. While I can’t remember what question she asked me, I do remember my answer, and her reaction. Part of my answer involved, “well, Luke and Leia are brother and sister…” and she went, “… wait, they are?!” 😱 I felt horrible. I can’t believe I did that. I mean, I thought that Luke & Leia being twins was common knowledge! Aw, man… how can I make up for such a blunder? 🤔 So, I told her that I may as well ruin the rest of the for her. “Luke, Leia, and Chewie get shot.” You see what I did there? I didn’t lie! 😉 You should have seen the look on her face! “They do?” 🥺 She was totally expecting them to be killed off! She was on edge for the entire movie, and LOVED IT! 😅 Now, that’s “pulling one out of the fire” for ya! 😎👍
OMG, THANK YOU Chris for giving one of my favorite thrillers of all time some shine! I rewatch this at least 2-4 times a year. When it’s storming outside and I’m home alone, this is my ultimate go-to movie. ❤️🍿
This is one of my favorite suspense thrillers. I saw it when I was in high school and it scared the ever loving shit out of me. I love this movie. I think it's good as is.
I'm so happy you reminded me of this film! I saw it in the theater back when I was 19 or 20, and as much as I truly loved this film with it's masterful writing and cinematography, it was a typical situation where I had a hard time identifying with the characters being that I was just barely not a child anymore and certainly not middle-aged and in a long term marriage. Flash forward to today, I'm a middle-aged man and in a long term and happy marriage. I need to rewatch this at my age now. I guarantee it will hit home in a profound way. Definitely watching it this weekend.
They cut a bath tub in half and re-made it with a transparent side to shoot the scene with Michelle and Ford. That after that terrific shot from above the rooms when Ford carries Michelle. Incredible
It is the kind of movie you have to watch several times to truly appreciate it. I loved that they hid Madisons face in several of the scenes and it is not until the scene ends that you are like, wait I just saw something. I think that really added to Michelle Pieffers character trying to figure out if she was going crazy or if she was really being haunted.
I think there were quite a lot of scary movies with twist endings in the late 90’s early 2000’s. “Sixth sense”, “The others” and “Shutter island” come to mind. At the time it started to really feel like an overused trope, but I guess when rewatching them individually so many years later lets you appreciate them more. I liked “what lies beneath” quite a bit at the time ☺️
Watched this tonight for the first time after seeing this review and was blown away. I think this film was severely underrated, especially when it comes to the camera-work, unrelenting suspense in the third act, and of course Michelle Pfeiffer's performance. Thank you for recommending this gem!
I’ll never forget renting the video as a kid and watching it with two mates. We started the film sitting in separate chairs; we finished it in the same chair hiding behind each other!
I remember watching and listening to the DVD's behind-the-scenes featurette and commentary. He refused to explain the shot where Michelle Pfeiffer was on the floor. Everything Robert Zemeckis was doing at the time was with innovative camera work and visual effects pioneering.
I feel like you are reviewing some of my all time favs that no one is talking about! I’m 34 and Stir of Echoes and What Lies Beneath came out while I was in my pre/teens. These movies stay with me because they were some of the first “scary movies” that I watched with just friends and not with family. Can’t wait for more reviews!
Fantastic movie!! As a female, I appreciated the ghost being helpful. Think the spirit was truly remorseful and saved the wife. Claire understood that Madison didn’t deserve any of that and keep in mind that Madison was probably in her late teens due to her being a college student . And with that, the wife brought the case to a close, Norman was exposed, gave the family closure, and gave the spirit a proper send off.
Amazing review. You put into words every single positive bit I've had in my mind for all these years. Even though What Lies Beneath is never going to make my top-10 horror movies, I'm still in awe every time I watch it about how well made it is. It's partially the reason I also love other horror movies from that era, like Jeepers Creepers and Joy Ride; the actors chemistry in normal character interactions is so good and realistic, makes you invested. And yes, Silvestri is always a master at replicating classic soundtracks vibe.
I love this new culture where literally everybody calls literally every movie, game, piece of music or book "underrated". I guess everything ever created is underrated then by you guys' logic.
@@The_OstrichI do think people get carried away calling well-reviewed movies underrated. Underwatched or underappreciated would be more appropriate in most cases. This movie actually has pretty mixed reviews though, so underrated is a good way to describe it.
I remember this being a craze back in the day, and was a hush-hush movie as well. No one wanted to be spoiled by it, and didn't want to spoil it to anyone else. And even talking about it - no one really talked about it openly out of fear someone would over hear. It was that much of a thriller - and reminds me a little of Sixth Sense. You are spot on for the cinematography as well - so many brilliant shots in the movie - was part of what made it spectacular.
Reminds me of what happened when Psycho came out. I think they had a sign waiting outside the theater asking the audience not to spoil it for other people when they were done.
Great to hear about this movie again; I watched it at the Venice Film Festival, and I had no idea of what kind of movie it was - seeing Ford, Pfeiffer, and Zemeckis on the poster I assumed it was going to be either a drama, a comedy, or maybe an action thriller... so I spent two hours in absolute terror. I often thought it was odd that it was kinda of forgotten by time, happy to see you bringing it back.
omg i love this movie! at the end, the final shot in the cemetery, when it fades to black and you see the subtle face on the ground as it fades... it gives me chills every time!
I remember watching this in cinemas as a teenager in love with everyone in this film and being so shocked and upset that Ford was the baddie. When u see it now it blows my mind how good his acting is that my shock pays tribute to his brilliance. Also, Zemeckis’ directing is ❤ thanks Chris. I LOVE when you deep dive into camera work!
This movie started a lifelong love of Michelle Pfeiffer, what a smokeshow and incredible actress. It always stuck with me but I havent seen it in years, so time for a rewatch.
Thanks for bringing this back. Saw this on the big screen and it deliciously scared me half to death. Great intensity. I didn't want to believe who the villain turned out to be. That eye opener at the end is THE great jump scare. I love good scares like that. It was a great finisher to all the other intense stuff in this film. Loved it.
THIS! THIS right here is why I love being subscribed to your channel! I totally forgot about this film. I remeber watching it when it came out and liked it - but maybe i forgot it only because we have millions of other movies that continue to come out.. whatever the reason I love that you did this review and I'm definitely going to rewatch this movie -- thank you!!!
@@jp3813me and my mom watch this movie back in 2001 when I was in third grade and the both of us got scared in the dark movie theater and also we both enjoyed it.
I remember watching this movie on my night off from work and having all the feelings of a perfect thriller/suspense movie. I own this movie and to this day still one of my favorite films of all time!
dude you are by far the best movie critic on youtube. I love hearing your thoughts on the technical aspects of these films. you hit on all the interesting points
My husband was so excited to show me this movie and I remember thinking after it was over..”no wonder I love this man..he has impeccable taste”. It’s such a great film
I’m so happy to see, you’ve picked this movie for The Halloween Special review. I’ve seen it few times over the years and always enjoyed it. The suspense kept me at the edge of my seat. Harrison and Michelle are such a great duo. I would love to see them together on screen in similar genre 🤩
I remember thinking Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer were over the hill and how weird it was for a 14 yr old girl to see this at the movie theater with her dad - so I never revisited it. Now that I’m 38, they both look amazing! I’m looking forward to watching it again with fresh eyes.
One of the things I appreciate most about this channel is how the commentary and insight, and as a result the quality of the content he produces, has noticeably increased as Chris gets more practical experience as a filmmaker
You saved Signs from its misguided detractors with an amazing review that made me, a lifelong fan, appreciate it even more. And now you have done the same with this unappreciated gem, which I just finished watching for perhaps the hundredth time tonight.
Thank you, Chris, for reviewing this amazing movie and for giving it the respect it so deserves. One of my all-time favourites. Another proof of how INCREDIBLY gifted Zemeckis was as a director for such a long, near flawless, series of movies. Go watch this movie if you haven't, people. You're missing out.
Mr. Stuckmann, I’m not very much a movie buff myself, but seeing your passion about film is so inspiring. I love your approach to taking about all the shots & behind the scenes details, it genuinely makes me think about all of that whenever I go to the movies now. Keep up the good work, you’re really great, & good luck on your movie!!!!
Chris, you have been my go-to for movie reviews and horror recommendations specifically for many many years now. Nothing much to add, just thank you and I will check out What Lies Beneath next!
Thank You for reviewing this movie...one of my all time faves. Very suspenseful, even little humor thrown in, jump scares that make sense etc...love this movie.
Thanks for reviewing this this movie. I remember seeing it in the theater and really enjoying it. I too agree that it is highly underrated. The end is both terrifying and satisfying - a hard combo to achieve!
Always caught this one on TNT back in the day and always stayed on it, Robert Zemeckis is a very versatile and engaging director! Who framed Roger rabbit and Flight?! Forget about it!
I'm glad you reviewed this, Chris. I think it is super underrated. I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out and I just couldn't believe that Harrison Ford was the villain. It fooled me SO much because he is always the hero. Like you said, those bathtub scenes are iconic in my mind. Tense movie.
I’m glad you’re covering this. I loved it as a kid and was shocked to find out that it got horrible reviews at the time. It was hit, has a great cast and a notable director. Yet I hear no one talk about it. I’m excited to revisit now.
Love that you did both What Lies Beneath & Stir of Echoes. My wife for the most part refuses to sit & watch movies & those two are two of three she will sit & watch and truly enjoys. For some reason Frequency is the third. Great reviews as always!
During the summer months while growing up, ABC would always have an 8 pm Saturday night movie. One Saturday, they showed this and I absolutely loved it! Thanks for reviewing it!
I still remember the unease I felt when she's floating up the water to then quickly turn and grabs Norman. When it fades to credits you can see Madison's face before it does. Loved that bit too.
Yes Chris I agree with you totally regarding this film. It blew me away when it was first released and Michelle and Harrison were outstanding. Very scary moments that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. 😮 I appreciate your comments on the construction of the movie as someone who has made a film yourself, pointing out the special camera techniques which are often overlooked by the layman.
I love love LOVE this movie and I'm frustrated it doesn't get more respect. Both Pfeiffer and Ford are freaking phenomenal in it. The final act is so tense, it's masterclass film making. Thank you for highlighting this movie. It is definitely worth watching even knowing "the twist".
Dude. Chris. You’re starting to scare me! You’re pulling out all my personal favorites from growing up! You’re doing great man! The 11th annual might go down in history! I’ve always had a love for this movie to the point that I made my parents, who were going to buy a dog, a beautiful Golden Retriever, and I made them name it Cooper! 😂 ❤
I didn't think about it until you mentioned it but you're right in that this movie is rarely talked about. I absolutely love this movie and i even went to the theater to see it with my mom. We've watched it a lot since it came out and we all love it and whenever a friend comes over, and I will suggest this movie, they enjoy it too. I love the reveal. I didn't think this movie was that long at all; maybe because I enjoyed it so much it went so fast.I do get what you mean about some of the scenes that could have been cut out though. The acting was great! I wish they'd make movies like this today. It had just the right amount of suspense to keep you guessing without it being over the top with the acting. Great review!
It's been a while since this movie was released, and you just reminded me how good this movie is. I was so amazed by the third act. This movie ages like a fine wine.
I actually went to the cinema to watch this when it came out with my university housemates. We were all freaked out. From what I remember, great acting, amazing camera work and a great plot with a satisfying ending. Need to watch it again now
Funny you mention that restaurant scene, because that's the scene from this movie I always remember. It's very funny and creative. I love how they talk just to their friends, and then in the middle of that conversation, Michelle's character speaks about the mystery, and the attention goes to her. It's so cool, and that's why it's a great movie. It's constantly creative.
Dismissing a movie or disliking a movie is not a bad thing. Just because you like the movie, it doesn't mean everyone has to. It's like forcing people to like a movie. Secondly, whether the movie is good or bad, a film is already a success upon creation, from its conception and birth to its completion. When it is critiqued by anyone, it's only their perception of the movie.
I'm so so happy you covered this movie. I've always loved it and seeing you point out the things you appreciate about it is making me want to watch it again. I'm going to introduce it to my husband since he's never seen it!
I’m someone that primarily watches horror movies. I remember seeing this in theaters when I was 13. This is the only movie I’ve ever seen to make me yell an audible “ahhh”. It was during the scene when the truck drives through the ghost. I adore this movie.
I love this movie so much. It's one of my favorite haunting/ thriller movies along with The Sixth Sense and the Others. The tension it creates is unreal, and I only wish I could erase it from my memory and see it for the first time again.
I have a fond memory of seeing this on VHS at my grandparent's house as a teen, thinking "ooo, I like these actors, this movie looks fun!" and being blown away by it. I really felt like I was trying to solve the mystery with Michelle Pfeiffer.
I own a copy via DVD a past purchase prior to all the digital streaming options & I immediately noticed the Hitchcock hat tipping style. I saw this back in the day when it began airing on cable uncut it's definitely an underrated movie, got excited upon notice that this film was chosen as one of you're reviews, Michelle Pfeiffer & Harrison Ford did a fantastic and of course Robert Zemeckis is amazing at what he does, it always confused me that this film didn't get more notice, & perhaps this is an odd detail to focus on but I also loved the house/set design, the house the couple lived in is beautiful I thought wow what a lovely house, haha. the movie has such a compelling tone about it apart from the great suspenseful quality, twist & turns of the story it has a great tone :)
This is such a great film. I saw it opening weekend. The suspense the film built was palpable in the theater! Michelle Pfeiffer’s acting, especially the minute facial changes during the immobilization scene, silently speak volumes. Harrison Ford’s character shift is out of left field! Amazing! I remember a debate about the last scene and a possible optical illusion.
Thanks for reviewing this movie. One of the most underrated Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer performances. If you guys like this movie, check out the 70s TV movie called "You lie so deep, my love", starring Don Galloway and Barbara Anderson (both famous for the TV show "Ironside"), which shares a very similar plot and husband and wife dynamic to this movie.
I agree with you completely that this is a great movie, it is definitely "Hitchcock" like....one of the best that I have seen. I am always surprised that people say they did not like any part of it, because you are right it looks fantastic. Michelle Pfeiffer is not only great to look at, but she is amazing in this movie! Was not expecting the ending to be what it was.....And to know it was written by Clark Gregg....mind blowing! Thank you for the honest and excellent review of this movie.
I re-watched this about a year ago and I was surprised that it isn't talked about more. It's a pretty damn good movie. Great atmosphere, great looking film, and isolating.
I am so glad to see you talk about this movie! I have always loved it so very much. I watch it every year around Halloween. I completely agree with you on your feelings in regards to it. Thank you for recognizing one of my favorites.
So so happy to see you talking about this movie! I have loved this since it first came out and it was tradition to watch it on vacation with one of my friends. It definitely deserves more hype
This movie is AMAZING! Love this movie. It was so eerie, so creepy with amazing acting. I would not cut a single scene, it just all works so well. I had to actually track this one down on Blu-Ray.
I was ready for this to be about not liking What Lies Beneath- so I'm quite relieved. So much about it is amazing! It's a once a year watch- along with "Wilsonnn!" Cast Away.
Dude this is your best halloween special up to date. I already commented under your videos about frailty and one hour photo to thank you for the reviews and now I gotta say thank you again! I just saw the movie and it was absolutely masterful and I never even heard of it! Suffice to say I'm really excited for your next recommendation! :D
Thanks for this review, Chris! You're right, no one seems to talk about this one, and when you talk about Zemeckis, most think Forrest Gump or Back to the Future, but he has many other gems out there! This one legitimately got me really good with some if its jump scares in the theater, and yes, maybe I'm an idiot, but credit due to the casting because I never saw the twist coming, mostly because my brain was trained to never believe Indiana Jones could be the villian, lol.
This was one of my favorite scary movies back when it came out. I always thought people didn’t give it enough credit for how scary it was and how good the performances were.

Oh my god yes! One of the first horror/thrillers I remember watching as a kid!! This movie has a very underrated performance from Harrison Ford.
The first and only time he played a villian.
@anubusx kind of wish he played more villains. He was really good.
Yessssss 🙌🏼
Chilling performance
Well Thunderbolt Ross is a sort of villian.
I liked “what lies beneath” quite a bit at the time ☺️
This is my mom's favorite movie, we watch it almost every Halloween!
Watched this tonight for the first time after seeing this review and was blown away. I think this film was severely underrated, especially when it comes to the camera-work, unrelenting suspense in the third act, and of course Michelle Pfeiffer's performance. Thank you for recommending this gem!
So you got it spoiled for you by this video before you watched it?
@@jp3813 I only watched the first part of him praising it and then finished it after the movie. I prefer to go into movies as blind as possible.
I’ll never forget renting the video as a kid and watching it with two mates. We started the film sitting in separate chairs; we finished it in the same chair hiding behind each other!
Hahahah..
I think she was a graduate student
Based on the actress they cast for her I'd say Madison was in her 20s. She definitely couldn't pass for a teen.
He went to film school and can analyze it better than us!
This is such an underrated film, I loved Harrison Fords acting in it
I love this new culture where literally everybody calls literally every movie, game, piece of music or book "underrated".
@@shadowfired I had no idea it had mixed reviews. Definitely underrated qualifies in that case.
@@The_OstrichChris literally talked for about 5 minutes about how nobody talks about this movie and people don’t think its very good…
His casting was another great asset. I was not expecting Harrison Ford to be the villain. Has he ever been a villain in anything else?
What a Classic! My favorite horror movie as a teenager. Michelle Pfeiffer kills this role Chris.
omg i love this movie! at the end, the final shot in the cemetery, when it fades to black and you see the subtle face on the ground as it fades... it gives me chills every time!
Would be nice to states that spoilers are coming before you comment ✋
This movie started a lifelong love of Michelle Pfeiffer, what a smokeshow and incredible actress. It always stuck with me but I havent seen it in years, so time for a rewatch.
Such an underrated horror film and even with Harrison Ford in it its just absolutely magical
What do you mean "even with Harrison Ford"? Not being nasty here, but Ford is one of the most legendary actors we know today!
Loved it.
I LOOOOOOVED this movie so much! I had a vivid memory of us watching it during Halloween in Middle School the year it came out. So so fun and awesome
What Lies Beneath is a horror masterpiece. Glad Chris gave it some shine.
Although he specifically said that it isn't a masterpiece.
@@jp3813 with all respect to his opinion.....
@@jp3813me and my mom watch this movie back in 2001 when I was in third grade and the both of us got scared in the dark movie theater and also we both enjoyed it.
Thanks for bringing this movie back Chris ! I saw it in theatre and it stuck with me. For me it has the most memorable jump scare of any movies.
Yes! I'm so glad I'm not alone loving this movie.
So glad you reviewed this, Chris! I’ve been doing a Robert Zemeckis marathon this year.
Ending scene always scarred me as a kid. Good early 2000s horror flick
This is a yearly watch for me and I’m so glad you covered it
1 of Robert Zemeckis’ more underrated movies
My husband was so excited to show me this movie and I remember thinking after it was over..”no wonder I love this man..he has impeccable taste”. It’s such a great film
This is by far my favorite horror movie. This and “Others”.
I agree. I'd love to see Harrison and Michelle act together again. They were so good in this.
I'm am loving all your choices this Halloween!!! Really great reviews, thanks
How odd! I watched this movie last night, after finishing, searched for your review, and was surprised not to find one and you post one today!
Chris, you have been my go-to for movie reviews and horror recommendations specifically for many many years now. Nothing much to add, just thank you and I will check out What Lies Beneath next!
Chris you’ve been putting in WORK for this 11th yr Halloween special! Everyday is a video and im grateful
I love this movie too! I rewatch it regularly and I find it entertaining every time. Also, Michelle Pfeiffer is mesmerizing.
One of my favs! Great analysis. And yes, the camera work in this film is next level.
It's been a while since this movie was released, and you just reminded me how good this movie is. I was so amazed by the third act. This movie ages like a fine wine.
It’s been too long, since you’ve Stuckmannized us, Chris. Welcome back!
Loving how busy you are this Halloween Special! Thank you Chris
I actually went to the cinema to watch this when it came out with my university housemates. We were all freaked out. From what I remember, great acting, amazing camera work and a great plot with a satisfying ending. Need to watch it again now
Great pick!!! I remember going to the theater to see this by myself just based on that trailer. Did NOT disappoint!
This is the movie where I discovered that I am a cinephile. Chris listed my fav shot of all time. The transition to the mirror floor.
this review was so spot on, I think you gave me a black eye. I loved this movie and it's been years since I've seen it - now I want to rewatch!
This movie did inspire a Bollywood movie in India called Raaz which was a blockbuster in the early 2000.
Man, that last bathtub scene is f* amazing. So well directed!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I never get tired of it, same for Castaway. Now I know why.
3:51 Chris’ bisexual panic. I love it☺️
Wow, I JUST rented this. I was just really wanted to rewatch it. I can’t believe you reviewed it so recently! Great video! Great movie!
