If you watch closely, you can see the Benfica fans stop singing their song as they are hit with 40k fans singing at once. Although we lost, this goes down as one of my favourite games because of the atmosphere before the game.

I'd argue the atomesphere is always like this. Difference is we don't usually light flares on Premiership games, nor do we get much time to start the real chanting. Whatever happens always a great atomesphere.;)

Personally, as a chelsea fan living in LIverpool, if the alcohol is allowed to still flow, the new stadium will be just as noisy as the current one. It will be very hard at first, but i'm sure the fans will find their feet after a season or two.
We have the best atmosphere for european cup games, compared to anyone else. League games, like many other grounds it is poor atmosphere, but RTK has been put in place and hopefully it will start to turn and it will become louder and louder. As far as I am concerned I would like it to be really loud for european games and a few homes a season rather than never a good atmosphere like some clubs.
in my opinion, conference and lower league fans, who travel to macclesfield away (for example) on a friday night are the best fans. Come on how difficult is it to go to a game and watch players like gerrard, rooney, ronaldo, teves, michael owen, emre, fabregas etc ??????
